No More Debate!
# Aug 22 2003 at 7:04 PM Rating: Default
Ok, I have a way to end this debate once and for all.

Lucy says Haste (the spell) is 2-50% haste, based on CAST level.

Lucy also says the "Effect Level" on FRSS is 5.

Put these together, and you get 6%.

FBSS is 21%.
SCHW is 22%.
6% Haste
# Mar 13 2003 at 11:34 PM Rating: Default
According to Magelo and Lucy, who use raw spell data, this is listed as 6% haste. Those sites use the spdat? files, which from my understanding are taken directly from the raw game files, so the info is just about 100% accurate.

Try lucy for items you're curious about -
lucy.fnord.net

Using lucy, for haste items, just add 1% to the "effect lvl" to get an items haste %

Aye...no longer drops... camp was in tims deep...

I was first there the morning after the patch.. my druid killing spirocs... tracked a ton of stuff i had not seen before. killed this guy and got the sash... put it on my druid and swung around at things... was slow if just slightly noticable... i held onto it for a while... everyone claiming big haste... (prob just to sell the loot their guild farmed for 3 days)...

I saw a guy looking for one month or so later in ec. I said i hadd one... he offered me 1200 for it.

I told him flat out that the haste on it sucked. but would sell it to him for that if he wanted it... adding for consolation that it was the first looted on brell...

but the haste was not comparable whatsoever to the fbss. so i still side with the 5%ish estimate and always will.

Worn haste has nothing to do with levels retards.
RE: uhh
# Mar 13 2003 at 11:30 PM Rating: Default
Actually......

I'm about 99.9% certain worn haste works at the (lvl + 1 = %haste) up to the max haste on the item. With my Rogue, at lvl 21 with SCHW (22% haste), assuming 22% haste, compared to lvl 10, assuming 11% haste, my backstab button refreshes about a second, or noticeably faster (used a stopwatch). And plus under the "haste" effect, it lists it as lvl + 1 = haste% for the spell data, I believe this applies to item haste too, each item is just given a cap. I'm almost positive this is how it works.

You can test this with most any special attack, like kick, bash, or backstab.

well sence the haste on an item dont make a skill faster u must have just thought that huh haste is for the damn delay on an weapon not on a skill refresh duh so u better take that stop watch back to the store

Monkly Business has a well done haste chart, one I have found to be most accurate. The haste is listed 16%. With the FBSS selling for 3-4k I say that 1.5k is a most appropriate price.

I might sell it again. not sure tho.
Hopefully not a stupid question
# May 14 2002 at 6:24 AM Rating: Default
I being a Ranger with a Wurmslayer and a Sarnak Skullsplitter have really started to drool over haste items. I have scoured Allakhazam looking for a haste item that I might be able to obtain. (I am constantly poor so I have to be able to hunt it down myself.) On all the comments for all the haste items there seems to be a lot of debate over how much haste is on the items and how haste is caculated. I have clicked on the haste link by spell effect and it shows to be a varying percentage based on level. So my questions are. Is the actual effect on these items different from the usual haste spell effect? Is there some different sort of cap on the percentage associated with each item with the haste spell effect? Or the third possibility, does the effect work just like the spell describes it with a percentage that changes as you level and no one notices?
RE: Hopefully not a stupid question
# Feb 03 2003 at 1:15 PM Rating: Default
I haven't found an answer to your question. Did u get any response? I would like to find out why the description of haste items say, for example, haste 2% lvl 1 - 50% lvl 49. I read that as meaning the item increases attack speed as u advance in levels. So I bought a flowing red sash and now I see peeps saying it only gives 6% haste- which is about worthless I would say.

Magelo lists this as 6%, so I'm inclined to believe that. I had one of the early ones on the Karana server, but eventually stopped using it because the small amount of haste wasn't worth the loss of AC.

Rather than parsing logs and whatnot, there is a very easy way to test the haste percentage on any item, provided you have the proper character. In my case, I have post 30 monk with the flying kick ability. Here is how I tested the haste on my recently acquired FRSS:

Without FRSS equipped, I hit flying kick and timed how long it took to reset. Every time it took between 8.89 and 8.91 seconds. Allowing for my reaction time on hitting the start and stop buttons on my stopwatch, you can pretty much figure the recycle time is 8.90 seconds.

Then I equipped the FRSS and did the same test. The results from multiple tests were a reset time on flying kick of 8.39 to 8.41 seconds, so I used 8.40 as the hasted number.

Now, divide 8.40 by 8.90 and you get 0.94.

8.40 is 0.94 or 94% of 8.90.

Subtract 0.94 from 1.00 and you get 0.06.

0.06 is 6%. Haste on the FRSS is 6%.

I know this works on a monk with flying kick. If any classes out there with the kick ability will try the same test and let us know the results, then we all will have a very quick and easy way of calculating haste without having to parse through combat logs removing double attacks and dual wield hits. That's way too much trouble for me to go to when I can do it all in-game with a stopwatch and a calculator.

Now if I can just talk someone into letting me borrow their FBSS or SCH...

actually, the proper equation is:

the answer is till 6%, but i just had to comment on your method ;oP

I use a bow with a delay of 50. As long as you have some long delay weapon you can tell the recycle time ( IE a weighted axe, Delay 120 ;)

I bought mine on brell for 500pp The guy who advertised it was saying 16% but for only 5 less than FBSS selling for 500pp i didnt believe it but none the less it was a haste item and i was low on cash so i bought it. I noticed a slight diffrence, but i think FBSS is much faster IMHO. The graphic is black, maybe black is post nerf? who knows. Would be interested in seeing a test btwn the Red FRSS *if it exhists* and the Black FRSS. Just a thought

I just got one and tested it out imediately. Although people claim it to be a 6% haste item, I realized an immediate increase to my attacks.

I normally wield a wurmslayer (aka Staminaslayer or Wurmslower). My stamina is high enough that it never becomes a problem unless I'm fighting for over 6 minutes straight. Once I put this thing on, my stamina went down in like 2 minutes and it seemed that I was hitting almost 20% more.

I did not parse the logs or anything, so this is just a gut feeling, but it *really* did seem to make a noticable difference.

I have heard from several sources that Magelo gets their info right from Verant. If this is true - and based on on several posts here from people that have tested it's haste - this thing is only 4%

4%...

If so I fail to see how anyone in their right mind would pay 1500pp for this thing. I would give you 1500cp and hang it off the garage work bench as a grease rag.

Magelo uses a packet sniffer progam that, when it runs, it copies down the informaion on what you're wielding wearing andhave in the bank, as well as information on any effects procs etc. etc.
thus, magelo has a source that's almost as good as direct from the horses' mouth.

Saw a guy selling this in Gbay last night, though I didn't ask how much. However he was marketing it as 15%.

From these boards I see a lot saying it's under 15%. Some say a bit higher but too many are saying as low as 4%. But regradless, thanx anyway because after reviewing these boards I at least didn't get suckered into buying it just in case the guy was lying.

Anyway, I wouldn't mind trying to get one and testing it out myself. Can someone please share some info of who, what and where this First Mate Morgan guy is?

RE: Well...
# Feb 02 2002 at 6:55 PM Rating: Good
Well, right now you arent going to get one without buying one as they only dropped for about 3 days as that was as long as the camp was there.

There were 3 named mobs that were dropping items, First Mate Morgan's big thing was this Sash, Captain Crag held the other main item highly sought in the Fishgill Sash which was a neck/waist item that is unlimited Enduring Breath and Chartsman Tallbones main item was the Sharkskin Boots. There was also a named Spiroc named Squally who spawned just after the Capt. did and was casting 24th level Druid Spells but dropping nothing. All but Squally also dropped "Blood Cursed" items that are obviously quest items. Factions were down with Pirates of Gunthak and up with Firiona Vie.

The above level to obtain is way off. The Mobs are not close enough together to aggro and the highest level was around 30.

Capt. Crag was Level 30ish (Blue @ 37/Lblue @ 42)
Squally was level 24-25 (LBlue at 37)
First Mate Morgan was level 24-25 (LBlue at 37)
Chartsman Tallbones was level 24-25 (LBlue at 37)

This camp was a field day and I knew it wouldnt last long. The spawn rate was around 6 minutes and the drop rate was very high. The first time I was in the camp I was there for about 90 minutes before heading to work and in that time 4 of these FRSS's dropped and 8 of the Fishgill Sashes dropped. That was Thursday 1/24/02. Friday (1/25/02)I got in to finish getting all the items and was there for about the same amount of time and saw 6 Fishgills and 5 FRSS (2 of them on back to back kills).

At around Midnight PST they announced in game that TD would be coming down for about 30 minutes at 2am PST Saturday Morning (1/26/02) and I knew it was over. Either the Camp would be gone or they were going to modify the spawn/drop rate. I was in the zone for about 40 minutes about 3am PST and there were only 3 others in the zone and one was AFK. A friend of mine wanting the Fishgill Sash went to check it out and there was no sign of the camp.

Rumor has it that Verant is talking about doing these types of camps more often. Just sliding them in for short periods of time in out of the way places. We shall see.

Hmm ok, this sounds a bit like the Halloween events that took place in EK, WC, Nro and RM. They were only up about 4 days. The difference being was that every item that dropped was class specific and was no drop. I did good there, got 3 items for myself off mobs that conned blue to me at 30th level that I was able to easily solo, and I'm still wearing those pieces today.

Only prob with events like these is that it really brings out the worst in people. Everyone was ninja looting everything. I remember killing a mob and trying to hold it while our druids randomed for the item that dropped. Soon enough we had 10 people around us asking a dozen question on what dropped also someone yelling at me for taking their camp (which there were no camps as there were 200 people in zone and we killed the thing in the open) and as soon I let go to let my friend take it, someone ninja looted it.

These type of events are a great opportunity for some nice equipment, it's just too bad they tend to bring out the worst in everyone.
RE: Well...
# Feb 07 2002 at 12:33 PM Rating: Default
those type of events suck *** cause they dont give any warning and you can miss out.... wish i had been able to take my warrior to TD and got some of those items (frss sounded way easier to get than fbss and i need haste item for my monk) I hope verant does to much of this... cause it does bring out the worst cause people get pist when they hear it was goin on and was over... they should have warning on the patching message like somthing is amiss in suchandsuchzones(might bring hoards of people tho) but better then "hey man just got this great item" "where at" "askdha" "ok" "dont bother it was an event and is over" "F**K!" and i think theyll slow down events like that on normal servers and do them on the legends one....

BUT it begs the question what use is the Identify spell if it can't give one some perspective as to its haste ratio to a FBSS.

I parsed a log of FRSS vs. FBSS the night I got the FRSS. I also ran another test the following night after the zone was reset and these where nerfed.

First, let's be sure that everyone understands that haste is calculated by the number of additional swing in a given time frame. To calculate haste:

A = # of swings without haste
B = # of swings with haste

Haste % = (B - A)/A * 100

Here is how I tested:

Test 1 - night it dropped
Frostbringer mainhand 22 delay
shield offhand
45 warrior with maxed melee skills for level

Target soul binder in FP (is immune to attacks) and turned on attack for 3 minutes apporimately then removed attacks with duplicate time stamps to accound for double attack.

no haste item - 180 seconds 80 attacks
calculated delay of weapon = 22.5 - pretty close to advertised

FRSS - 180 seconds 84 attacks
additional attacks over no haste = 4
calculated haste = 5% = (4/80)*100

FBSS - 181 seconds 96 attacks
additional attacks over no haste = 16
calculated haste = 20% = (16/80)*100 - pretty close to advertised 21%

The testing the next night was virtually identical to the previous night with the number of swings in a 180 second period being within 1 of the previous nights test. At best I would put this item as 6% (second test resulted in 1 more swing for FRSS, 6.25%). Anyone who says this is as fast as an FBSS or a Hangman's Noose has not done a controlled test and parsed the logs.

I'd just like to confirm that Wandor Killbringer is absolutely correct.
I went to the camp the second day it was up with my druid friend, and as soon as we got one I had her attack me in the back. This solved any issues with offhand or double attacks as druids do not gain any of the skills.
Got roughly 5-6% haste on this badboy here, and just for fun we tested my Silver Chitin Handwraps aswell.. clocked in at 20-21% haste, same as FBSS.
I'm currently using the FRSS on my lowbie chars, nice little haste boost for the low levels :)

Ok, ive tried both types of haste, teh Frss, and teh Fbss, (borrowed from friend), and from what i could tell, the Fbss was faster, but not by much, im guessing, yes, guessing, 12%, maybe 14%, still not sure, but i can promise you it aint no 4%, and yes, it no longer drops.

Tested with a level 27 beastlord, so no double attack, and using a shield in the offhand so no duel wield..

Parsed over a 5 minute period, the increase in the number of swings was around 4%.

Anyone claiming thats it's equal to a FBSS most likely has one to sell, or has only fought for 30 secs and judged the haste by "gut feel"

Tested at level 31 and still 4% haste.

So I don't think it gains any haste based on players level.
formula
# Jan 29 2002 at 1:02 PM Rating: Decent
Calculate haste, NOT by the number of HITS/minute, but rather, by the number of SWINGS/minute. You can do this by simply counting/logging the number of SWINGS you have per minute with and then without the sash.

Haste simply enhances your chances of swinging your weapon more, thereby increasing the chances of hitting your target more.

My 51 druid easily took first mate with 2 160 roots and drifting death and finished off with drones of doom... green con. Unsure of positive lvl, but captain crag in same camp was lvl 30 sk with high resist on snare root and had sow. and all the deckhands standing around aggroed on my lvl 51 druid and hit for max 40pts damage.

Is a nice belt... and am glad to have finally looted a haste item... heh.
