Convergence is a level 53 Necromancer spell. You require an Essence Emerald to cast it, however, which is obtained by having an Emerald in your inventory and casting the spell "Sacrifice" on a player over level 45. This results in experience loss (as though the person died to an NPC) and makes their corpse un-rezzable.

After having an Essence Emerald, the Necromancer can cast Convergence which is a 93% experience rez.

Why kill someone and steal their experience for a rez spell?

You're a 53+ Necromancer going on a Plane of Growth raid. The bard makes a bad pull and there's a complete wipeout (except for a few SKs/Monks/Necros that Feigned Death). Instead of spending hours on a raid corpse retrieval, the Necromancer happens to have an Essence Emerald and Ressurects a Cleric.

The Essence Emerald is also used for the level 59 Necromancer Spectre pet, which has massive amounts of hitpoints and a high damage output, and a 1,000 Mana instant-regen spell similar to that of a Wizard's.

what is the use

If you have to sacrifice someone to use the gem it defeats the purpose .. Maybe verant should re think this and come up with another optionto crate the essence Gem !!!!
Courage is NOT the absence of Fear but the Will to persevere past it.

Defeats the purpose? This spell is incredibly powerful, it makes Necromancers the ONLY other class besides Clerics that can ressurect. Sure there is a cost, but that cost is a controlled loss of 10% of a level for a 46th level character at the benefit of having a Necromancer who just feigned death on a big raid that went bad rez the Epic Cleric so the he can save 10, 20, 30 people 96% of their XP loss. Not to mention all the time it takes to get a party like that back to their corpses on a total wipeout. Again, think about that, an hour's worth of XP for a level 46 member of a guild in order to save a couple of dozen people hours and hours of corpse recovery/xp time. There is no need to rethink this spell, Necromancers are not meant to be a rezzing class, the cost for this has to be steep, but thinking ahead and using this correctly makes it an extremely powerful group recovery spell.

You don't have to be sacrificed YOURSELF to get rezzed with an essance gem, someone else can be sacrificed instead. And a few hours of grinding can get back the lost exp. Some people will even let themselves be sacrificed for platinum.

Also, even if you were the one to be sacrificed, think of it this way: Would you rather die in a safe spot where you can easily retreive your body, or deep in the bowels of some god-awful dungeon where you MIGHT be able to get your stuff back in a week before all your precious gear rotted? If given the choice between one death's worth of exp loss, and losing all their gear, everyone would chose the former.

And come on, you expect a Necromancer not to have some horrible dark price for saving your butt?

Edit: Oh, Pallys can rez too. I wish there was a lvl 60 Shaman rez or something, but there isn't. Smiley: frown

It is the 93 percent xp rezz but to do you you need a essence emerald which you get by casting sacrifice (Lvl 51 necro spell) on someone (you need a emerald) that person looses his lvl (must be 40 or higher) and your emerald turns into a essense emerald which is xpelled when you cast convergance (a 93 percent xp rezz on someone)
