46 Pal can solo this
# Aug 02 2007 at 3:38 PM Rating: Decent
Confirmed today thurs, Aug 2, 2007. 46 supertwink pally: magnetic bp, helm, legs, armguards of repentance, boots of slaughter, silver chitin handwraps (22% haste), centaur plate wrist guard and deepwater bracer (never clicked it during the fight), earrings: fiercely hooked claw, tear of the rainmaker, dragon touched mask, neck/back/shoulders: di`zok warrior emblem, nestor's cloak, bloody mantle of agony, benevolent girdle, rings: dragorn commoner's ring and terror chain ring, range slot was ceramic totem of the rathe (req L46, imp heal 4), pri/sec: blade of disruption and brilliant shield of integrity.

Revenant hit 160 max double attacks at regular/slow speed and missed often. Did not hit max too often. Ran at low health. Red to me at 46, spook the dead worked VS him, when he ran away spooked i used that time to chain greater heal myself. Bottom to top, spell lineup was, greater healing, ethereal cleansing (never used during), root, spook the dead, flash of light, stun, holy might, dismiss undead. Hardly used root, flash, dismiss. Save mana for fear and heals. Make sure valor (or potion or enc/sham haste) and diving purpose are up and get MAX buffed for L46, that means ALL L60 buffs. Virtue, brells mountainous barrier, focus of soul, KEI, dodge, sp haste, melee guard, shammy stats. Dmg shield potion is a must! (Use your lay hands (1800ish) when you are near oom)

I finished the fight with 60% hp and 10% mana. (buffed stat totals were 5213hp/3148mana, 1106AC, 1025ac) Good challenge for an eq pro, but with everything mentioned here should be a cinch. spell: instrument of nife was the fricking BOMB on this fight!

Ideas for more of an advantage, heal potions (used one once, HOT potions are better than dd heal pots since they heal more total), corrupted sunshard undead clicky slow quest (like 10% slow vs undead i hear), regen potion or spell, Ghoulbane did not work so well, its sort of low damage and kind of slow too. Resist buffs and stat foods would help also. That ubertwink RCOD shield would have been nice too, the one with 10atk and 2 regen and 45ac 110hp/mana and what not. I forget the name. edit: it just came to me, Brightstar Buckler.

Hey, I am on the Maeline Starpyre (Vazaelle) server and I have this spell. I pretty much know all the locations for the bones and I can solo the skeleton. If any one wants to buy this from me my email is 32ones@gmail.com

I took the Tortured Revenant yesterday night solo.

I am a 55th Knight, 1030 AC, 3100 HP with Focus of the seventh and KEI, 37 aa, and it was easier that what i was thinking...
Just chain stun him (Stun and Holy might were what i was using), and fear kite him, one spell over two will stick on it...
He ran at 15% health for me, and took 80% of my mana pool... so prepare for a good fight, but don't be affraid to solo him if you are used to solo fights with undeads!

Hope this help

not a solo if you're under 50+

I took on the tortured revant at lvl 49 and it wiped the floor with me. Got all the items again and a group of friends that are gonna help me wipe out the hard hitting skellie. From personal exp. Make sure you have a group with ya. The revant was hitting me for anything from 150+ dmg a strike. plus hes a caster and uses divine might on you so you get to see what it does first hand. Good luck fellow pallys.

Any Ideas what one should price these at? I was thinking of putting it at 5k and seeing what happens. Will post back here when it sells with the info.

Edit:
Jan 24, 2004 - Sold the spell today at 5k. Buyer seemed more than happy to pay that amount.

Just Finished it

Just finished this quest a few days ago. Now days its fairly easy. Back before kunark this sucker was fairly equal to an Epic quest i'm sure.
Great spell. Love it.

I owe Hairey of tallonzek greatly for his assistance =)

2 Questions:

1. Can I solo this quest at level 63?

2. How long does this quest take?

Did you look at the time stamps and see that they are almost 2 years apart?
Got it :-)

Got this spell the other day, long *** quest the hardest thing to get was the finger bones from phinny. The shield was a pain in the **** to find though. The spell lasts for a nice long time and procs like crazy with a 22 delay weapon and 160 dex
Got a second copy of spell... for free!!!

After turning in the ashes and getting the spell, the Tortured Revenant respawned right where he had spawned before! He didn't attack, so I worked up my nerve, and tried to solo him (my party had left after an easy kill--- me, 62 shammy and 52 wizzy).
After a few minutes of futile battle and using my LoH, I tucked my pride between my legs and and ran for the Kithicor zone.
I healed myself up (I was down to 35% health, while A Tortured Revenant was still at 80%) and zoned back in, expecting the Tortured Revenant to have despawned.... he hadn't. I gave up and ran to East Commons, then decided to double back and try again, realizing that the spell was NOT no-drop, and was no doubt worth a FORTUNE if I could get it.
I zoned back in, and again to my surprise, he was STILL up!!! I ran back over, and a curious 48 ranger was making a stab at him. He was giving up after a minute and running for the zone when I sent him a tell, asking him to snare the Tortured Revenant, and I'd beat on his back while the ranger medded up to continue. We worked out a deal for the loot, and the battle commenced. It took about 10 minutes (with a 51 pally and a 48 ranger only), but we killed him, and Simon gave me a SECOND copy of the spell!!! My guess is that this was a game bug, but what do I know???
I'm now selling it on Morrell-Thule for 4k. Send a tell if you're interested!
Anyone selling this?

If you cast Instrument of Nife and then cast Divine Might, you will get the message "Your spell did not take hold." You must first cancel Instrument of Nife before you cast Divine Might.

If you first cast Divine Might, and then cast Instrument of Nife, the latter will overwrite the former. The Divine Might is automatically canceled and the Insturment of Nife takes precedence.

Both Divine Might and Instrument of Nife stack with Valor of Marr. Since Instrument of Nife procs vs. undead for more damage than the proc for Divine Might, you should use Instrument of Nife vs. undead and Divine Might vs. normal mobs.

COST

Dang man this spell is way too freakin expensive. The quest itself costs about 2k and to buy it from someone is like 5k. AH man that sucks for a 49 spell. quest is hard also

The quest is long and involved. But it *IS* a holy quest given to you by the temple. Well worth the effort IMHO. I managed to assemble a Guild
raid tonight to cut down the fishman (Phin). The
bards got their items and I got my fingerbone :)

Tomorrow - I pay the skelly a visit *G*

FWIW : The spell should be nodrop, Buying a holy quest item is just plain wrong IMHO

Aye, that is true, ye should be FORCED to do it. Same with PPl Trying to MQ Epics and such. The ******* of a Druid that thought of selling PFC for 50k should be drug out in the street and shot...........

Relax!

1) it's a freaking GAME.
2) if the Game allows it and had no written rules against it then what is the big deal? You sound like someone just attacked your relatives.

It's so expensive from players BECAUSE the quest is pretty long. To be perfectly honest, the quest isn't too ridiculously hard. It just requires some travel and a little luck (Phinagel being dead when you get to Kedge is a REAL time saver). Admittedly, the revenant is supposed to be pretty mean (he's all I have left to complete), but he doesn't sound like anything a group couldn't handle. The gems' prices aren't too bad, really, either, since the price of diamonds has come down so much.

All in all, a few well-spent hours and 1.5kpp should see most paladins able to cast the spell completing the quest.
