AC Means nothing
# Jul 24 2002 at 1:43 PM Rating: Default
The only stats you really should want are HP and STA. STA = HP, HP > AC. So um, stop complaining about the AC being so low and look at some of the peices with 5-8 sta.

Completely and totally wrong.

Misinformation is so widespread =/

Of course everyone has heard HP > AC ... BUT that refers to someone with substanial AC to begin with. AC should definately not be neglected. For warriors, HP > AC is true, but not really till you can hit the softcap at least. All your hps dont do you much good if you dont have at least enough AC to take some hits.

After softcap, pure HP > STA > AC as it isn't all that hard to max STA out.

I have a beastlord as an alt and know a few 60+ beastlords. As far as I can tell a high end bst is useful for their nifty buffs, considerable DPS, and in exp groups (PoV at least) make decent slowers.

Basically, just don't neglect AC, it is in fact important to all melee classes, just some more than others.

I dont know why all you beastlords are complaining about your AC being to low, i mean, sure, theres some nice stats, and low AC, but, i mean, on a raid situation, its highly unlikely that you will WANT agro, so therefor you wont WANT to be hit, and on another note, you guys solo better than druids and necros for the longest, and to top it all off, you can recast your pet buff on your pet for a CH on the pet, which has the wicked pet-proc-buffs, so you can just sit back and let it kill everything for you. and you complain about ac, heck, beastlords are at present probably one of the, if not THE strongest class out there. So the next BL that tells me that they think they are UNDERPOWERED, get real, your not, you are quite awesome, heck, i almost broke down and made one...... almost.

By reading your statement, Beastlords are to be played A) on raids only, B) solo, or C) as Clerics for their pets.

It is obvious you know very little about Beastlords. So I wonder why you would comment on a class you know absolutely nothing about? Hmmm, maybe you had a bad day at school being beaten out of your lunch money?

AC is everything especially at higher levels, I play a Beastlord on Cazic Thule, and rarely solo with it because it is so hard to get AC up as well as other stats. Beastlords are awesome group support, and in the situation where a shaman is not available can dot and slow for the MA, lowering mobs damage output. Our slows and dots are no where near as powerful as the shamans or the druids, and are often just enough to gain major agro (oh boy wouldn't decent AC be nice here?)

Yes, our pets do proc and taunt, but they are low level taunts and as soon as a PC steps with in agro range the pet is no longer the target of the mobs hostilities. (Gee, wouldn't ac be nice here?)

And on the subject of letting the pet fight all our battles for us, you can tell that statement was written by a non melee class who gets full xp with out ever having to lay a weapon on the mob. If our pets do more damage to the mob than we do, they take the most experience. So, as a beastlord we must step in and take damage (Praying for AC now), and hope to out damage our pets.

We are not underpowered, nor are we over powered, we are just a new class to everquest, that people such as yourself have taken no time to get to know, yet wish to tell how best to play our character.

I would have flamed you, but your entry was flame enough.

Well on thing I have to say is no they are not overpowerd and you are right that they are not under powerd. But there is one thing I have to say about the AA and spells need to be redone.

lvl 34th (Iksar) beastlord
blah

give me a break.

beastlords have rocking pets, so far in the lowbie levels, i've had no trouble killing yellows and the occasional low red .. . all with the pet. we are not a true melee class and have other benefits and so must pay the price with less AC
yes.. it is

The planar beastlord armor seems to have some decent stats on it... but... why is the armor class so low? Even though they're restricted to leather and cloth armors, with a few exceptions, the beastlord is still a melee class.

I mean, this is truely pitiful... low level Iksar beastlords (technically, any beastlord can wear the item, regardless of race, but most will be forever KOS) can quest for the Patriarch's Leggings in Cabilis at level 4. Patriarch's Leggings have the exact same armor class as these planar pants: 5AC. You don't even have to kill anything to do the quest, usually: the quest requires you to hand in four of the goblin watcher signal torches, and if a server has been up for more than a day, you can just buy those from random merchants in and around Cabilis for roughly 1 silver each.

It's a sad day when a melee class gets planar armor with the exact same AC as armor you can quest for at level four. It's basically just leather, with stats. I sure hope they figure out what they're doing, and actually *finish* the beastlord class soon. =(
