Why is the headline spelled Transvergance but the spell name next to "effect" is spelled Transvergence with an e?
The name of the spell scroll in the game is currently misspelled with an 'a', while the spell it casts is spelled correctly with an 'e'. The item listings on Zam reflect what's in the game.

There's so much misinformation in this thread I feel compelled to correct it.
1. The "Rod of Mystical Transvergance" is summoned with a level 56 magician spell. I can find a link to the spell, but not the actual item. hmm 2. The item is expendable with 3 charges. 3. You will not be able to activate it if your base hp is less than 450. 4. There are two versions of the spell to summon a rod of mystical transvergance (T rod, some call it). Mass mystical convergence will summon one for everyone in a certain radius around the magician. Great for raids. The other version requires the magician to target the person for whom the rod is being summoned. It will appear on their cursor. 5. The rods can be used as a 1hb weapon. 6. The lower level version of this item called https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/spell.html?spell=1503. Summoned at level 44.
If I find that any of my information here is innacurate I will update this post.
2/4/04: I tend to use the term "mod rod" to both versions of the rod (level 44 & 56.) I edited to specify which I was talking about. Sorry for being inexact.
I have gotten this twice once with my troll and it worked fine for her at Lvl 9. Then I jumped to lvl 10 and died. When I retrieved my body I did not have the rod anymore.
Then I signed on with my lvl 3 human cleric and I went to the bazaar to twink myself and ended up walking out with one of these things again.
The rod works like a weapon in your H1 slot and hits about 18 each slash. It is a complete godsend to low level characters.
I have no idea why other people had problems. SO far I have not died with my rod and so I cannot tell you when it might disappear, I will update when I finally lose it.
You're right, Cenenye, a mod rod does work as a 1hb weapon. Here's some more info about it.
It is a summoned item. It will vanish from your character 30 minutes after you log off. Each one has 3 charges and will poof when the last charge is used. A high level magician can summon a fresh one for you.
The real use of the mod rod is to convert your HP to Mana. It will take 450 HP and convert it to 300 mana. You will not be able to activate the mod rod if your base HP is less than 450.
Take note though, I've read you can activate it if you have enough base HP regardless of your current hp. So don't activate it if you're beat up and have less than 450hp left or it will kill you.
I've never tested this so I can't confirm the truth of it.
This morning, when I looked at my trader, she had a Rod of Mystical Transvergence (1Hblunt, dmg/delay around 8/30) on her cursor. This is the second time she has had one. The first time, I clicked on it and she died. So I figured I had used it wrong; this time I went to Paludal, targeted Yellow Eyes, clicked on it and.... died. Okay, maybe YE killed me. So, I retrieved my corpse, went back to PC, targeted the shroom, clicked on it and ... you guessed it, died.
It seems there is a mage spell that casts this thing onto the cursor of everyone in range. I guess it's an AoE spell? and that is why she keeps dying? because she's too low a level to sustain the hit?
Or is it Verant`s idea of a joke? ha ha i am laughing all the way to retrieve my corpse!
hehe It's not a Joke the Item you are getting that keeps killing you. It's for higher level casters it trades hp's for mana, But it will kill you if you have less then 650 hp's.
I just foraged one of these rods in crushbone it was no rent and I went linkdead like 10 minutes after foraging it. I think this is an odd item to forage, my char is only a lvl 19 druid.
More likely someone cast the Rod spell near you right as you foraged. The spell has been changed so that it summons a rod on the mouse pointer of everybody within a certain radius of the caster. (As long as they have enough max hp to use the rod without dying.)
Nope, it goes on everyone's cursor...as I just found out, because my lvl 3 vendor in the Bazaar had one suddenly. I had heard something about them before, so I was going to just destroy it, but I didn't know if what I'd heard was true or not, so I came on here. Now I find that it IS true...the thing kills you if you are too low. I'm just glad I didn't try it for kicks cause I'da been really, really pissed to have to schlup back to the bazaar from my bind point (I'm like ten times overweight).
Guess it's just like that saying to beware of "Greeks" bearing gifts. If you don't know what it is, watch your hiney!
Actually, no this was a bug. For a while you could end up randomly getting items and/or money (getting some huge number of copper when you used the bank was common), but if you tried to do anything with the item or money, you would crash.
The tip-off is the "and then went linkdead" part of the original poster's comments.
This spell is being "reworked" by Verant. In other words no infinite mana loops for raid partyies. Good I'm glad.
The "rich get richer, strong get stronger" thing is just frustrating to new players and makes the game less fun for veterans. Unless, of course, you like just hitting auto attack and then leave to get a snack while your party kills the deity (or whatever).
I paid 2500pp for this spell, banishment, and aegis of ro. I think this spell was 1k by itself, worth every PP. As long as i have a chloroplast, or a cleric around, i can summon one of these, use all 3 charges (-300hp a shot) and gain about 1/3 a blue bubble of mana. No, that isn't an absurd amount, but celestial healing is only 225 mana and it heals all the damage done to you in a matter of seconds. Very awsome spell. you all will soon be addicted.
