This is how it IS!!
# Aug 23 2002 at 11:53 AM Rating: Good
Dex (for melee)= Helps ALL offensive skills and abilities: how much you hit, proc, weapon skills going up, critical hits, etc.
Dex (for casting) = Helps regain concentration to keep casting while being hit.

Str= Increase how hard you hit, and normal weight issues everyone has.

Agi= Helps ALL defensive skills and abilities: parry, dodge, riposte, block, defensive skills going up, etc.

Int/Wis= More mana, spell casting skills go up faster, trade skills go up faster (will take the higher of the 2 into account when working on a trade)

Sta= More hit points (not much), wear down less when fighting, running, swimming, etc.

Cha= How much NPC's like you, the higher it is the more you can sell to merchants for and the lower you can buy for, the lower the charisma the less money you get from merchants and the more you have to pay for items.

NO arguing this! this is directly from verants nice little books they call players guides where they explain what each stat attributes itself to. Have a nice day and stop arguing about stupid stuff :o)

Wrong. Dex does not effect concentration for casters. That's right from the dev's. Only channeling skill is checked on that...

Have you ever PLAYED a caster past level 20? Not meaning to be rude (or flame), but we tryin to help ya out! I can verify (51 druid) that Dex DOES effect concentration in the following way:

Higher Dex = Less Interrupts when HIT

BUT...

Dex is NOT checked when you accidently move while casting. Only channeling is. So in a way, you are both right.

What this means is if you forget to count to 3 before casting when you come to a stop, you will still be interrupted.

I can be hit for 400+ and still get my spell off.

But Dex is VERY important to soloing casters of all classes, and also important to any druid, so they can root agros in groups, and let the MT take back over.

I used to wonder about this, too, so I tested. I bought and quested all kinds of Dex gear, and tried in fights, and out of fights in every scenario I could think up. You could do the same, but hopefully I save you the time 8)

Let me also add that Channeling has nothing to do with interrupts... Channeling is a check against fizzles, just like the casting skill itself (IE evocation, conjuration, etc)

If you need this verified, take a walk through your AA abilities... There's a channeling improvement in there that sums it up for ya, but I won't spoil al the info for ya.

Name: Channeling Focus
Level Requirement: 55

Description: This ability reduces the chances that a player will have their spell casting interrupted due to damage or movement.

If I didn't think I needed to quote the AA listings I would base my affirmations on my 2 1/2+ years of experience playing a druid. Channeling DOES affect interrupts, that's ALL IT DOES. Thanks for not spoiling the info for me ;)
Gona say once
# Jun 12 2002 at 1:08 AM Rating: Default
Dex,int, wis,(some cases char) are all used to raise skills BUT.. and iam going to say this once.

THE higher the stat out of all 3(or4) will be used. so 240wis 230 int, Wisdom is gona be used to calculate the sped at which it improves

RE: Yes Dex regains concentration
# Jul 21 2001 at 9:08 PM Rating: Default
I've seen multiple posts with people stating differing opinions. Anybody got any hard coded evidence one way or the other? I'd really like to know so I know whether to put more work into Dex items. Thanks.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 28 2001 at 4:11 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Dont believe dex halps casters "ragain concentration", thats is raised by the channeling skill which as far as i know is directly effected by INT?
RE: Dex - Casters???
# Jun 20 2001 at 8:00 AM Rating: Default
Dex does help with regaining... I have noticed a difference with my GSD 9dex.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 12 2001 at 9:04 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) NO DON"T BELIVE THIS!!! dex and agi has nuthin to do with casting work on INT and come here and TRY JUST TRY to PK my 100dex 100 AGI shadow stepping nuker lol...the only thing that will be left to figure out is....what shall i loot??
#Anonymous, Posted: May 26 2001 at 2:56 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ok...Str is how hard u can hit. Dex is how frequent u can hit that hard, and yes Dex also has to do with how often u proc, but it doesnt have anything to do with how quickly u learn weapon skills.
RE: To previous post...
# Dec 13 2001 at 3:04 PM Rating: Default
To whoever said Dex has Nothing to do with learning weapon skills is flat out Stupid and Ignorant..why the hell post something you know absolutly nothing about.?? Dex affects how often your weapon will proc and how quickly you learn most weapon skills. Come on people if you dont know what you are posting about DO NOT POST.
RE: To previous post...
# Jun 26 2001 at 2:03 PM Rating: Good
Dex has everything to do with how fast you learn weapon skills, When my lvl 45 warrior was using a Glowing Black Sword(9 22 20dex) and a jarsath trident(while fairly untrained with pircing) His Skills would sky rockect faster then when i would give him 2 pircing weapons.

Dex Also does help with regaining consentration while casting a spell, Ive tested it it works

Dex directly affects how fast you learn your weapons skills. Get a Boon of Garou cast on you (+100 Dex) and use a weapon that needs training. Watch your skill fly.
Iksars KOS to Kerra Ridge
# May 21 2001 at 1:29 PM Rating: Default
Can an Iksar monk do this quest? Or are we KOS to them? Knowing that most people don't like us, I'd hate to go all the way to BFE and find out that I can't do it.
RE: Iksars KOS to Kerra Ridge
# May 28 2001 at 12:52 AM Rating: Decent
Yes. Iksar are KOS in Kerra Isle. I found this out the hard way after going all the way there to get the rings for the Paw of Oppalla. Luckily, the NPC for the PAw quest was NOT KOS to me. So I just toughed out everyone attacking me while I turned in the items to the shaman, since they all conned green to me at 35.

RE: what does it look like?

The icon in game looks like a regular leather bracer. When worn it does not show up on your character. I just wear it b/c its an obscure piece of equipment and I can tell people whatever I want about it(normally the truth, but some ppl get the BS).

Dex for melees=better chance to reach the max dmg on the weapon
Sta for melees=more health

Dex for casters=better chance to regain concentration when smacked as you cast
Sta for casters=be able to take more than the little damage they already can take

Twizta
Half-Elf Bard
Erosilli Marr

and yes, my dad was a Human and my Mom was a Wood Elf so dont ask!
RE: what does it look like?
# May 19 2001 at 2:11 PM Rating: Default
If that is what dex does for melees, umm what is str for then?? the way i understood it, dex has to do w/ how often you proc, and how fast you learn weapon skills. There may be other uses i dont know yet
RE: what does it look like?
# May 29 2001 at 6:27 PM Rating: Default
the previous post before yours is right, str iscreases that maximum damage that you can do, dex increases the chance of doing that damage.
