killed him last night and got the bracer, very easy as a 34 cleric.

I nuked him to death from max cast range and non of his friends assisted.

This is actually a really nice piece of armor for the effort required. Great for untwinked players in 20s and 30s, and for twinking new players or friends. My observations on getting these:

First, Beware the seafury cyclops. However, if you stay right on the waterline on the south side of the island, near the pirate camp, they don't come that far (unless trained).

Second, the greens don't aggro. I had heard conflicting info on this, but have gotten several for friends and alts since reaching 30, and nothing in the pirate camp adds.

Third, Gornit. Usually camped, so not a problem, but if not, don't pull too close, because he is on pirate faction, and will add. But in my experience has a small aggro radius. Also, if he happens not to be up when you get there, he pops in the little inlet of water near the pirate camp, so don't use that spot to pull to or meditate. I usually swim, or run levved if possible, to the corner of the island with the pirate camp before touching land to avoid gornit and the seafuries.

Fourth, Capt. Surestout. Basically a no worries green for my 34 cleric, but hits pretty hard for his level. Much easier than Dorn in north ro, but a slight undercon. Melee only, no spells so a root, nuke approach might work, or snare kiting if you have lev and go out over the water. Don't kite on the island.

Fifth, drop rate. This doesn't drop every time, but I've never had to wait more than 3 spawns for it, and Surestout is on a very short spawn time. Less than it takes to med to full after nuking him.

Last, the item itself. This is not only a great item for low level melees, but its really nice for twinking a druid or monk. 1 stone is not too much weight for a monk in mostly wu's or cured silk, and is a nice stat boost. Also, for a low druid, pre-sow, I like the strength and ac on this better than the 2ac and 3 wis on a pbb for low level druids. Since damage shield meleeing is still a decent way to solo at low levels, the ac and str help a lot. plus the 3 wis on pbb is only 6 or 8 mana at level 10. Probably true for the other listed classes as well, but can't really say, as I have not tried.

Green Aggro: Depends on level.

Some greens will aggro unless you are too high, at 44 if I walk around the camp I'm fine, but if I stand there the Cap'n and/or his First Wench aggros me.

The mage has not aggroed me so far and neither has the bucaneer or the lesser spirit that spawns after you kill the cap'n.

Had never seen these guys before having never been to this island. Just now, walked right up to the camp, everything was green to me as a 49 mage. The only mob that aggroed me for just standing there was the captain but was short work (no pun intended) for my pet.

Excellent post! The only point I found to differ with my experience is the other greens agroing. When I walk up to Capt. Surestout to pull him, the DE female (can't recall name) always agroes me. However pulling the Capt with a spell, outside of her agro range brings the Capt solo.

Everything else fits with the experience I have had there. Excellent post Xaanru !

Yes, it it an awesome peice of equipement. Granted, 5ac isn't wonderful. +5str is not too shabby for a wrist item. I had it and a hero bracer for the longest time. (Us Erudite Paladins
are weak)
nice item

I am a level 31 pally and I heard about this item and, being my strength stat rather low, I decided to go after it. I got on the boat to Ocean of Tears from Freeport and got off at the dock. I shouted for a little help on how to get to Captain Surestout. Someone told me to go west 2 islands. So, I swam over to the island I could see towards the west, and hit an isle with a tower on it. Following the persons instructions, I scaled the island and swam over to the next isle to the west. It was rather large and had many seafury cyclops inhabbiting it. Beware of these, they can kill you really quick. All I did after that was walked around the edge of the island till I found a small pirate encampment, with a buccaneer, a casting gnome pirate, the Captain, and a rouge figure (cant remember name). Thinking that they would all aggro on me, I attacked the caster first, and to my surprise found none of them to aggro. I killed him and his pet easily, and looked about the camp. Then all of the sudden Capt Surestout attacked me, so I killed him, too. After he died a spirit wolf thing appeared which I killed in one 31 dmg slash. I looted the Captain to find the bracers. It seems as if the Captain is the only pirate to aggro you in the camp, maybe just because they are all green to me. So if you plan on getting this nice litle peice and your level 30+, the only problem you will have are those nasty cyclops. Well that was my journey, I hope this helps :). May Rodcet Nife be with you all.

This is an item I always pick up when camping Gornit or Witlin for the Ivy Quest, which is a 60 minute spawn with a placeholder. You can pick up as many of these as you want pretty much, as long as there are people to carry them away. Given that people camping Gornit will be 40+ he isn't an issue to kill - I let my pet take him out. If you're passing through you might pick one up cheap or free.

Captain Surestout, who is in a small camp on the island with the Seafury Cyclops. He was green to me at 31 and easy to kill. I suspect that this can be attained at a lower level then 30 like this page says, probably around lvl 20. Note that it is a camp with other NPC's so use come crowd control (Feign death, harmony, mez) to isolate him if you need to. He is a halfling, but doesn't give bad halfling faction, in fact he gives positive Fironia Vie faction. He will run when low, so snare is helpful. And his death spawns a lesser spirit which I killed in about 1 or two hits, but I've read that it hits hard. Spawn time is very short, about 5 minutes, and these are pretty common. We killed him twice and got two bracers, which is when it dawned on me that they were LORE, oh well. It's a nice easy plus 5 str item.
