Got it cheap

Hey Folks,
I was in Luclin two nights ago picking up the Desist spell (Paladin spell, found on Luclin, Level 15) and I decided to check out the Bazaar. I had been there previously to get the Cease spell at Level 9 and knew that there were some decent items there for a lower level, and usually some not too bad prices. I found this mask at a vendor and loved the stats when I checked them. Even though I knew the price was going to be very high, I thought, what the heck, and checked the price. Imagine my surprise when the NPC vendor quoted me 9gp 6sp 2cp! Yes, that is gp not pp. I was shocked! Naturally I bought it immediately, and then went and checked nearly every vendor in the Bazaar for a similar deal. I found other items that seemed cheaper than they should be, but nothing in this markdown range. The vendor was in the main building right near the front of the Bazaar when you come in, one of the Elf vendors near the back of the barn (as I call the building). I recommend that every once in a while, people stop in Luclin and see what they can find. You never know--you might get lucky.

The reason you find these on merchants, is that masks are typically made by people skilling up. The mask uses the fewest studs, and therefore, is the cheapest to make. The current pricing on studded acrylia has most pieces in the 500-2000pp range on my server, with the exception of masks. They sell for 100-300 in the bazaar, but are easily found in most places that tailoring patterns are sold.

The smart tailors sell their overstock in out of the way places, or very busy merchants, so either nobody will find them before the next patch, or they get buried at the bottom of the merchant's inventory.

The smart tailors NEVER sell to an NPC merchant, the smart tailors destroy if they do not intend to sell to another player.

By the time you are making these items and you think getting back 9gp from a merchant is desireable you are one sorry *** tailor. Smiley: disappointed

Hehe, you've never been in the position of being poor and an aspiring tradeskiller at once then... I need to pinch every cp I get, I can't afford to destroy my successes. For example, in pottery, while working on the poison vials, I'd fire them up and sell them back... makes back 80% of what they cost to make (on the successes, not counting what you lose on failures). This really helps keep you going. On Mino brew when brewing, when I sold back my successes would almost break even.

Tailoring's a lot more expensive than brewing, part of why I gave up on it. Masks always require less ingredients than the others, making them cheaper to skill up on... and trust me, once you start making expensive things you'll want to recover your cost as much as possible. You don't weant to spend the time to sell these to players, so go ahead and sell them to NPCs and recover a portion of your cost. Who cares if somebody else buys them off of merchants? You weren't going to sell them anyway. It's like whining about people taking items out of your garbage and keeping them. So what? You didn't want it anyway, might as well let someone get the benefit of it.
Nice mask

Picked one up tonight in Greater Faydark on Xegony from a very nice tailorer for only 10pp! I was shocked when he did an auction, and was surprised that he had to auction more than once before someone (me) told him that they would buy it. Anyway, I'm not complaining at all!

I considered myself lucky to buy this item for my Bard for 175pp. But that was all i had on me and the seller was in need of plat. The stats are clean and ac is always needed. One of my better purchases..

I got one of these for only 85pp! I don't know what was wrong with the tailor selling them... they must have been desperate! This happened on Xev in Greater Faydark.

These might be a little common while people are raising their tailoring skill as this will be the popular item to make if you are just wanting to raise skill making acrylia armor. I think 400-500pp for this is reasonable considering the stats and the hassle to get the components, not to mention the tailoring skill to make it.

This is a great crafted item for drui/shami and the camp to get the acrylia needed to make the studs is hard to get as well as very slow and booooooring...
