I have this on my main (LVL 12 SHM) and it allows me to do dual weild damage when dual weild is not an option. I picked it up for 35pp at the bazaar. If your just starting out I would highly recommend this weapon, particularly for non-dual weilding classes.

I am currently using this on my 21 Ogre Berserker with 194 strength and SCHWs and like it very much. See normal hits in the 50-70 range with crits well over 100. Combine this with Frenzies in the 30-40 range (sometimes triple) and you get a zerker who lives up to the name. I will say though that if you are not a main tank in a group at this level you will draw a lot of aggro so be prepared.

Wow.

I bought this for my 54BRD, just to play with and see for how hard I could hit with 28DMG. The max so far has been 120dmg, I think I might actually try to get my 2HP skill up, for when groups I'm in have an Enchanter to mezz & slow, giving me time to melee.
Finally..

A reasonably usable 2hp for my ranger, and later on my shaman (maybe..), only cost me 75pp also. Haven't tried it, looks nice.
Shaman's.....

I tend to use this with my shaman, its one of the only 2h piercers I've seen with my limited world experiance, and I find If I switch it in when grouped occasionally I can mix it up in melee when I have cast all my combat buffs etc and do some really evil damage yet not draw aggro off the tank, and back up and cast whenever I need to..... any extra damage is good damage in a fight :)
LOL

With Combat fury? I can get crits for over 200.

Aye, think of the mezz, hit, mezz, hit method of fighting. 100+hits will take down a mob quickly.

From the looks of it, this may actually be one of the few (if not only) two-handed weapons that a bard could use and have some skill with that weapon type. 2h Piercing draws from your regular Piercing skill, and since bards have a pretty good skill with Piercing, then bards could actually wield this weapon with some proficiency.

Yes, bards appear able to wield this weapon... but why would they want to? Without double attack, the only reason a bard would be wielding a 2 handed weapon, would be if that weapon gave them stats they could not otherwise match, (and they did not intend to melee much).

Otherwise, they are crippling their already weaker melee abilities. As bard useable 1-handed weapons with much better stats exist, the likelihood of ever seeing a bard use this, (beyond the novelty factor) is exceedingly slim.

But yes, you're right... it looks like a bard could actually use this, even though they would never want to. :-)

Just like the people who talk about 2hb for beastlords, you are mistaken. Dual weild + double attack classes such as warriors, rangers and monks give up their two weapons for a single one all the time, they give up only dual weild and not double attack. They still get double attack when using one handed weapons. Now if you are a bard, or a beastlord and you also replace your two one handers for a two hander how is the equation of whether you have double attack or not coming into play? Are you still giving up your dual weild to swing a single weapon? Are you not doing the identical thing a warrior would do by using a two hander only on a scale of roughly half the overall damage since you don't get double attack?

I don't see where having, or not having double attack makes a difference, it's a skill that affects a pair of one handed weapons just as much as it affects a single two handed weapon you are simply giving up two individual weapons for a single one that will hopefully do more overall damage.

"Otherwise, they are crippling their already weaker melee abilities."
It's already roughly half a warrior's damage with a set of one handers, it's still going to be roughly half a warrior's with a single two hander.

Now as to whether or not a bard WOULD use this I'd definitly try it out if I got one, sure would be nice to throw out some big numbers like all those 2hs weilding classes do every now and then and besides I come with onboard 50% haste and wouldn't mind single attacking with a 28/31 weapon and getting 5ac 5str and 3dex to boot.

Some level 51 bard

-almost forgot this too...a couple less clicks to go from weapon(s) to instrument as well, that in itself could be a plus.

I believe Two one handed weapons are better than one two handed weapon considering DAM/DEL alone as you get more chances to land a blow with two weapons.

rogue is NOT listed as class on the pic. my eyes almost bugged outa my head when I saw 28 dmg and rogue usable. what's the highest damage main hand piercer? 15 on our epic? 28 damage, no matter the delay, would be WAY too powerful. I sincerely doubt we'll ever see a rogue piercer with that much damage on it. :p

Verant has stated time and time again that there will never be a rogue piercer with greater than 15 base damage.

There are currently Luclin weapons which end up with greater than 15 damage, but they are weapons with extra elemental damage, and, from all apparent accounts, that extra damage is not factored into weapon base damage for the purpose of the backstab multiplier.

So, if you see a piercer with over 15 base damage, don't get yourself into a tizzy -- it won't be rogue useable. :-)

Ifir, Dagger of Fire, 17damage and 1 fire, rogue useable. Dropped in Plane of Fire.
no rogue

the screen shot does not have rogue listed as a class. looks like alla put rogue instead of warrior on the classes. we can't blame him for making little mistakes once in a while. i didn't know rangers, shamen and bards had the 2h piercing ability tho...
RE: no rogue
# Jan 25 2002 at 7:59 AM Rating: Decent
2H Piercing isn't a seperate skill to train, it uses the same skill as 1H Piercing, just with both hands. If I've been keeping my piercing up with my dragonhorn ykesha, for example, a one handed piercer, I'll be just as good with one of these.
yup

Your right, it is an error
Tell me this is not an error
# Jan 24 2002 at 10:19 AM Rating: Decent
Of course, it must be incorrect. Rogue usable? I can see it now, my Backstabs begin to hit 900 dmg (not doubles)
RE: Tell me this is not an error
# Jan 24 2002 at 1:35 PM Rating: Default
There is no possible way this can be correct. Either this is a fake item, or Rogue was included by accident as a usable class and it will soon be removed. Even the dagger dropped in the Sleeper's Tomb (off a warder, I believe) is only like 11/18 so obviously they would rather give Rogues better ratio and keep their backstabs limited (which, in light of class balance, is wise).
