I got my gloves and intact bruteling choppers today. The brutelings were at the giant fort, they came out of a crack on the SW corner and attacked us. The first bruteling dropped the intact choppers, the second some crushed choppers. That was a little too easy I thought, but the wait for the pitfighter to drop more than made up for it. There are 2 different pitfighters in the general area. The low level, light blue to me at 22, one you want spawns at the ruins loc p2288, n146. It is an easy camp. I was there about 2 hours. The timer is 15 mins, and the mob never runs, just pops and sits there. The pitfighter that spawns in the goblin fort is another matter. He was light blue to a lvl 48 ranger and has nothing to do with the monk quest. He does however, drop a "diseased tongue", probably used for another quest, and he was in the tents on right of entrance from FoB trail. He spawned after killing everything in the goblin camp and put up a good fight against a lvl 22 monk, 26 ranger, and 48 ranger, so you probably don't want to take him on at level 25 or so. There is a good named goblin, "the Something Destroyer", that drops iksar scaled gloves, which a high level could loot and sell in bazaar to pass the time. Good luck to all.
the great ogre doesnt agro on you, he is indifferent and niether does the skelly (apathy) the raider will agro on you, but neither of the important mobs will add. oh, and don't give 5gp while fs, it don't work, you need to be sitting standing ducking, anything bu fd or invis, anti agro = anti turn in =), when skeleton spawn you dont ahve to say dance or anything, just start off saying, "i will return th hand to cabilis"
For those of you going to do the turn-in to The Great Oowomp, let me drop a little strategy on you. The big lug stands next to a small building in which an Ogre Raider keeps watch. Trying to Sneak up and turn in the 5 GP from outside the building will result in the Raider spotting you, aggroing, and bringing Oowomp down on you as an add. However, you can sneak into the building from the rear archway, hand in the 5 GP over the right shoulder of the Raider, and get the skellie summoned up.
Futhermore, both the Raider and Oowomp will path back to their start points if you pull them, so don't bother trying to isolate Oowomp that way to turn in your 5 GP. You CAN use it to your advantage, however. Once the skellie is up, get out of the hut and break Sneak. That will aggro the Raider, Oowomp, and the skellie all at the same time. Back up near the water and FD. Oowomp and the Raider will path back where they belong; the skellie will stay right where you FD'ed. From there, you can tell him to "dance for you," and then follow up with "I will return the hand to Cabilis" to get the hand with only a thumb.
Excellent suggestion. Managed to spawn skelly, sneak around to the side and receive items without getting aggro from the raider in hut. Snuck away ...easy peasy. This was the third time I've done this part (replaced Shackle of Rock twice now, I know I like 'puinishmont'!) Got Shackle of Steel last night (bring lots of friends for that). Already replaced Copper and Bronze for fun, but when I go for Tyn, I'll want another Steel so I'll need those two again.
I have gone through 5 spawn cycles of Dervs in SW corner of Oasis with no Young Ronin popping... this quest was surely made for those with endless hours on their hands and no real lives.
Okay Folsk listen up, Shackle Quests, yes this one inparticular is quite time consuming, and some of you say the reward isnt worth it. Monks are truly a very fun class to play, and these Quests were designed to test your patience "youg Grasshoppa". But if you check out the Shackels that are beyond the Original Quest you will crap your pants. Along with the Award of the Kick-butt shackle there is now a H2H weapon that comes along with it. It is going to look quite nice next to my epic :P For you questers out there...DONT GIVE UP!! It took me days to get my fingers, and was also a pain to get most of the stuff for the shackel of Rock. But this will pay off, especially if I ever see you running around. Any monk who has his Shackle of rock, is due alot of respect in my eyes. Patience, and timing....the life of the monk. We go deeper into any dungeon, hit harder than most tanks, and are willing to try anything. hehe just my 2 bits, good luck peeps =)
A year ago When I quested these items I know they were Lore and No dro. But now I think they are free to sale like the headbands and sashs. I swear some High elf paladine on florna val was saleing them the other day. I don't think I was dreaming but I might of been can some one verify.
Has now relized that on Florna val alot of items are not No-drop except epics Guess that means I can buy the shackle of stone kinda nice.
Well Im going on what feels like my 20th hour here in Kurn's basement and the spawn cycle for the fingered skelly still eludes me. Just when I think I have it figured out and I think I can start predicting it...nothing happens. I have gotten about 20 3.1 inch fingers and have yet to see the 2.5 I still need. Test my patience? That is the understatement of the day.
I have been looking all over Warslik's Wood for the intact chompers now, and the only place I have seen any Brutelings at is near the bandit lake.
If you go to the lake and face North you will see a very tall hill (and the edge of the zone). Going up this hill and near location -1157.13, 3936.16, 699.26 you should find quite a few mobs pacing back and forth, but not raelly going anywhere. Both times I'be checked this spot I've found a Bruteling, but no intact chompers yet. :(
Going to clear things up on this quest just a little if you go to the ruins at p2288,n146 and kill the single spawn there you will eventually get the pitfighter.Hope this helps those that are like me and can't seem to get it done unless it is spelled out for you.
Artimis Oathkeeper 51 Paladin of the Namless Son of the Great Father Rodcet Nife I shall find honor in death!
If you're doing this quest because you want good bracers... dont expect this to be an immidiate pay off. None of the bracers up to this point are better than wu's wrist bands. The greatness of the shackles is not the point. It's all part of the "life as a lizard" as I've told some of my friends at one time or another. Doing quests is what this race is all about. Role play it, have fun with it and the next time you see a guy who has shackles on, remember how much work it took him. :-)

Today on a tip from another poster (somewhere on these boards don't remember where) I tested a possible bug and confirmed it.
IF you combine the four fingers (from the fingered skeletons) in the Hollow Skull container (dropped off of the Undead Cook in Kurns) which was presumably for a quest given by the undead Jester (completing the head of a servant of Kurn's) it will give you a lore no drop Iksar Left Hand. (may or may not be the same left hand as the one given by the great oowamp (will test this in a few days)) This may be a bug or a possible way of simplifying the quest (the Undead cook spawns right near the fingered skeles).
And yes, the shackle quests though a boon to the Iksar do appear to be much more difficult than they are worth if you are going for straight statistics. IMHO I see these are just part of the game and challenges to overcome and make the game more interesting.
Though it is a pity that the shackles along the way are very weak compared to easily purchased shackles (ie Bracer of Erollisi (sp?) for around 50 pp (easily attainable by your mid teens) has 5 ac +5str), or rather it would be nice to have a couple of better bracers at the end of the quest. I know there is the Shackle of Steel (which is a great bracer and worth questing for) but the Shackle of Scale is very, very under powered for all of the questing that is required to get it (only 9ac! with no stats).
Hehe, well good hunting to you brethren of the fist.
Kexel Spineweaver Monk of the 24th Fist Saryrn Server
these quests make no sense. don't expect them to. just cross your fingers and hope that everything goes your way. i'm currently working on the shackle of scale and it is simpler in the number of things to do but maybe harder in the difficulty of actually doing each part. oh well. rarer and rarer spawns are needed as you go. but remember, it is as much a sign of honor as it is a way of getting a good bracer.
does anyone else find it kinda f'd up that these shackles and the shackle of STONE are the EXACT same.....+4ac 0.5wgt....it seems that because this quest is hard (i looked for the brutling & pit fighter for over a week now)that the reward, even tho you need this to get the other better bracers, should at LEAST be a lil' more ac or even less wgt??? I'm seriously hoping that there is a typo in the info someone send b/c this is a PITA (pain in the ***** quest to do for the same bracer again.....just my 2cw. And to the ppl that ask "why bother?" i answer *ehem* Not all of us are twinked out our scaley ears with equipment and the Shackle of Steel is well worth the effort i belive, even tho it isnt the best bracer you can have (supposidly) it has low wgt high ac and MR along with other stats and it is in the pride you get from earning your armor that makes it worth while to wear.....getting someone to give you a bracer for 1k or whatever is nowhere near as fun as camping that rare sapwn and holding your breath as you click the "give" button to get your reward and see the ray of light shine from the SoS as you slip it onto your wrist (i have not confirmed it, but the Shackle of Steel has a animation of light illuminating from it i have heard) this is all IMHO
Good Luck on this one guys
Terrorfist Thunderscale <Thanatos Incarnate> lvl20 monk on Tribunal
P.S. if you have any extra practices left and you haven't gotten sneak yet..DO IT ASAP! this quest is UN COMPLETABLE if you dont have sneak because you must use it to get to the Ogre (Ooowomp or whatever) you cant FD or go Invis and still trade because we could do alot of quest that way =P
later all, send a tell sometime and tell me you read this....we can talk :)
I can't for the life of me find a skulking bruteling anywhere in WW. I heard he spawned near the lake behind the giant fort and I have cleared that area MANY times with no luck.

Hey Buddy guess what these quests kick *** for those roleplayers out there and some of us and supa twinked to get huge and impossibley good items at lvl 1, so if you dont like it, dont do the quest.
why would they make a quest so time consuming? it isnt a very good piece of armor, no stats, and same ac as cured silk too i think. all the items are easy to get. maybe the fingers are the hardest to get, i only have 3 of the fingers. and have not seen all drop ever! if anyone does this quest i will be kinda surprised.
um... you need the shackle of rock to go farther for more shackles u see u have to do this quest to get to the shackle of steel which is better then any item a monk will ever have even from the PoF, u see they dont make these quests for no reason
While it's true that this quest requires a stupid amount of camping rare spawns for a piece of trash reward, you need that piece of trash reward to do the better shackle quests. I've gotten everything but the goblin pitfighter gloves now (less than a bubble from 25th), and as soon as I figure out where they spawn I'm finally going to finish this lame quest.
My necro killed a goblin pit fighter in Warsliks woods in a ruins near the water if you go right when you leave cabilis. Probably one of the ruins in the path to FoB but Im not sure. Pit fighter was blue to me at15 or 16. It dropped the No Drop gloves
The pit fighter spawns in the goblin fort in warsilk woods, in one of the tents to the right if your comming across the bridge, I have killed him dozens of times.
