I can't believe SoE did this. Trade LSoEE for a PoS item, Thats less damage, And higher delay. Good god wtf were they thinking? I thought our input counted =\
While they did go a bit too far with the nerfing, the quest for the LSoEE was way too easy for the reward. The quest takes all of about 2 hours to complete, with no difficult kills, and most of that time is the time spent waiting for the named bandit in Paludal to spawn. LSoEE's were entering the game at a ridiculous rate, and either the quest had to be made more difficult, or the reward had to be changed.
If they had made the quest harder, they would have had to upgrade the other rewards, rather than just nerfing the 1hs. Guess nerfing one was easier than redoing the quest, and upgrading the others.
I simply don't know where else to post this complaint, so since I'm really feeling it at this point I'll put it here.
I am sick and tired of being in strong need of a powerful weapon at a level lower than 50, at least something that will do some damage over 20 per hit. I've mastered 1hs and need to be doing some serious damage now. The Long Sword really looked worth trying to kill myself to get it at 30th lvl - this weapon in no way shape or form can compare to the long sword.
Why oh why can't we quest/kill for decent weapons, armors, etc. at the levels where we actually need to use it? By the time you reach your 50's and 60's and able to travel to the planes and such these weapons mean nothing to you anyway!
You would think that there would be some way for us to get items without having to pay through our nose at the bazaar. I for one would like to be able to quest for decent items, but more often find the rewards just about meaningless. I've a ranger that would like a better 1hs weapon, but also have a 46th lvl Pally now who is really starting to become ashamed of his hard-earned Ro armor because quite frankly it stinks.
I don't know if I'll ever be able to afford a mount, or any of the really usable weapons and armor. I absolutely refuse to turn even more real world money into plat than what I'm already spending just to have the privilege of being able to play the game - so going to EBay is definitely out of the question.
I guess, sadly, that my only option available at this point is trying my hardest to get a character up to his 60's just so he can turn around and start charging the same outrageous prices as everyone else, just so I can get some decent items myself - how sad.
Im a fraid, my friend, that these weapons that we buy off of others that we usually have no chance of looting make u indeed a more powerful person. I am living proof, with my lvl 36 ranger, i went from a xrathril thingamabob in my off hand to a centi SS and i can now solo rooms that i needed atleast a healer to take, the difference is so noticable i managed to duel a 37 SK and a 32 pally in 2v2 with my friend a 34 warrior, warrior died because he got the HT from the SK but i managed to kill the pally and take the SK down from 50% health and still win at 20% HP

Usually average around 110dmg every time i hit fer 5 or 6. but iw as wondering. Should i get this lammy main and SoEE in Off? cause tech it is a 16/29 if it is unresisted..... So i dunno and with haste of 22% its like a 16/25 somewhere around there.....well get back at me. I am on the seventh hammer Gegolian badbain.
Well, a few of ya have good words for this sword, but it seems the rest of ya are bound and determined to undermine it after seeing what it once was. either way, this is an ubernice twink item and the extra Dex is always good on a barb/warr. im interested in purchasing one, im on Bristlebane, if i could get a price and a seller id be happy :)

Just wondering? Thought that druids could use Scimitars as weps. Wonder why they left out on this one =)
Wulvardar Bladeruner Druid of the 52nd Season Leader of the Mystic Myth Allegiance Waluvil Bard of the 25th Season Funyun Cleric of the 27th Season Xabamtik Necro of the 20th Season
Whats the best way to raise faction here? am a lvl 46 DE cleric, have had all 4 items since 2 hours after original nerf and would like to turn them in. would appreciate any info
What is this? The LS was a decent weapon, why'd VI have to go and do this... Exact same stats, but 11 29 now? I thought the LS was balanced, 16 29, but you lose 5 Str and Sta. For shame!!
No kidding! i agree totally a level 50 quest should be for an actual DECENT weapon that a level 50 could actually use.
And to think a person let me use his LSoEE in a group inside paw and he hasn't logged on to get it back from me? man, i can get uber uber rich off of a LSoEE ina snap! It's hard to be trustworthy when you are tempted in selling something now worth over 10k wouldn't you say?
As far as ive found out the quest was originally put it in to give melees / hybrids a great questable weapon BUT droods could complete it so much faster and were farming it for cash soe decided it wasn't serving its purpose and was just a cash cow so nerfed it .
Just for kicks and giggles, I did the quest again so I can see how the scimitar handles with the LoEE. And to tell you the truth....the scimitar SUCKS!!!!
I can tell you that there are a LOT of other good weapons that I rather be using on my off-hand. The Centi Longsword is a good canidate and I'm using it now. Better damage and comparable delay makes this weapon a find off-hand weapon.
And for those who are AC freaks, then use a wurmy and LoEE combo. The combine ACs of the weapon would add something like +20 to your AC.
So should you get this weapon? Well, that depends on you and how much time you want to waste.
I have the LSoEE, had the Centi LS and am selling the SoEE.
The LSoEE of course beats the other two on damage. Surprisingly, the SoEE regularly outdamages the Centi LS by a fair amount. And it weighs just 2 stones ... doesn't devour your stamina like the Centi LS.
The Centi LS beats the stuffings out of the other two weapons in the "looks" category though. ^_^
Waste time? I was lucky and got the dagger off the second spawn in Paludal (one PH then she spawned with it) It wasn't until then I decided to re-do the quest.
With Ebben I needed the help of a level 40 druid (Though the fight was close) All in all, it took me no time at all and picked up the weapon when i was headed to katta for a wedding anyway.
As for there being a lot better weapons out there, well sure there are. But this easily attainable? And this weapon, as I posted below, gives an incredible addition to MR when equipped with the LSoEE. Whoever said we are restricted to two weapons? I carry 5 on me and by setting up proper hotkeys I'm able to switch back and forth in mid fights and equip what's best for the scenario. If I'm fighting a caster I want to make sure I have the highest MR possible, not so much the damage output.
That +5 magic dmg, though disputed on how it works, does something. It is better than Icetooth Claws I assure you. As an offensive weapon, it's not so great, but it's not at all bad either.
magic damage works as though you have 5 additional base damage on your weapon, the damage bonus applies to this damage, as well as any other damage modifiers. However, because the damage is magic based, it is run through the MR filter before the damage is done. so, against a mob with very high MR, this wep is 11 29, with mediocre MR, maybe 13 or 14 29, and with crap MR, 16 29.
Anyone know if its possible to dual wield the Long Scimitar and the Long Sword of Ethereal Energy, considering they are different swords after the nerf, wouldnt be a bad combo for and ogre war, the neg str neg sta would hardly touch my warriors stats and the +24dex would be nice

Posted:Jan 23 2002 at 7:49 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Don't call it scimitar if ya won't give it to us, Verant...we don't get many 1HS (most are crap), but I think just about every druid expects anything called "Scimitar" to be useable by a druid...this just sucks...I was waiting to see if there was a Scimitar of Ethereal Energy (I wasn't going to melee with it, I wanted it for the name...Astral...Ethereal...if ya know what those really mean, you'd understand)...come on....guess I'll hafta look for the "Sucky Druid Hammer of Ethereal Energy"...
look at it this way, no level 50 druid would want this thing. it's stats are nice for the classes listed, but all of them are pretty much worthless to us since it doesn't include wis or mana. at that level, you could better spend your time hunting for a bone handled scimmy or such.
but yeah, it does suck that they made a scimitar that isn't usable by the one class that actually wields them on a regular basis...
seems like a mistake. Perhaps they hastely made the change and didn't bother to change the classes just yet. I hope for all druids that soon they will take notice of this error if they haven't already and change it sometime in the near future.

I agree, this was most likely their original intention. I do have a LSoEE and even after I found out about the nerf I have been meaning to get this item anyway. All I need left is to kill Ebben.
Picture it, using this with LSoEE it will give me a +20 to ac, +20 to MR and +24 to Dex. I have some stamina to spare and plenty of strength. ;)
I was a bit mad when they dropped the LoEE, but in hide sight the LoEE was WAY overpowered. I don't think even making it no-drop would have helped. In truth, I think this is what they originally planned for stats, but someone typing it up got that extra 5 dmg in there head and added it as a magic dmg and into the regualr dmg.
That aside, this is by far not a bad weapon at all. It's dmg 11 dly 29 to dmg 16 dly 29 dependant on the magic resistance of the MOB. Some trade off stats on it, but easily balances with other equiptment. In all truth it's a lot like a Centi Longswrod in battle I would bet for dmg.
I am going to finish this quest anyway just because I want a weapon with special dmg in my invnetory.
This scimitar is weird. With a 32 warrior with 165 1hs and about 160 strength, I was averaging about 30, but doing anywhere from 2 to 51 damage on normal hits, while my crits were usually about 45. Anyway, it really is a nice weapon for the price- get it cheap and keep it around for keeping 1hs up and for going against casters. Not bad for soloing, either, especially if paired with a wurmy. I'd definitely take it over a CLS, myself, if only for the cash and weight I save.
Ive done tests on the LSoEE and the 5 magic dmg on low MR mobs doesnt make it 21/29, the 5magic dmg is highly resistable. http://pub42.ezboard.com/fayonaerofrm6.showMessage?topicID=828.topic
