I'm pretty sure it no longer drops. A GM told me that there has been no instance of one dropping in the past few years, on any server.

I have killed this guy about hundred times, and everytime it either drop the dagger, or the hammer. (those 2 items are so far the only drop i've seem from Chakiza, and now i'm lazy to kill this named anymore cuz everytime it pop will either holding the dagger or hammer.) as from the personal experience, i say the "Heart of Fungus" is either ultra-rare drop, or is no-longer drop in game.
Still drop?

i've been doing the caller quest quite a bit for the last month. i have killed all the named mobs tons of times and have not seen this item. this site says that it drops off of Chazika, but the only items i've ever seen him with are the fungus spine, and the fungus hammer, this is out of about 20 times of killing him at least. this is a damn nice item and although i have made a good bit off of fungus patch vests i don't want to farm this place forever if this item is gone.

so please post if you have a confirmed drop of this item and when and what mob exactly. don't reply with some bs about this class can use or that class should use or some bs of whether or not you think it still drops cause a friends friends friend said he has one on another server.
Regen stacks

Dont want to read all of this, so il just say it fast. Regen stacks, if its diffrent type of regen(in some cases same type) Just take a look on warrior elemental armor, every pice cept for bracer have aura of Xhealing. And i have plenty of SK friends that use both fungi and zlandi heart.
RE: Regen stacks
# Nov 18 2003 at 1:33 PM Rating: Decent
By fungi I presume you are referring to the Tunic? Since this baby is PRIMARY slot only, and hence not stackable with the Zlandicar's Heart. :(

I've been looking for a higher regen item than my Iksar BP (+5regen) and I'm checking the bazaar every day for months and this is never for sale. Is this thing still dropping ?? You'd think that some campers would be harvesting them for income and they'd be turning up in the bazaar from time to time.

Course I could be wrong.

Fungus heart Vs. Zlandicar's heat?
# Mar 19 2003 at 6:43 AM Rating: Decent
ok why is the Z-heart so much more expensive than this one when it has twice the regen of it?? really now 5hp per tick vs 10?? and you don't have to have a full Raid force to get it???
RE: Fungus heart Vs. Zlandicar's heat?

cause it has +20int and is useable by necros. the regen effect will negate some of the hp lost on their hp>mana spells

No it's a worneffect item it works from lvl 1. The Payback is the reduced ac and sv's but in downtime situations excellent to equip to ease down on clerical mana.

if you have both just equip the fungi tunic and watch the numerical listing of your current hp in the inventory screen and note how many you gain every six sec. then equip both and see if the number gained per tick is the same or higher

Shaman regen faster sitting than binding for nearly 90 hps a pop? Holy moly. Thanks for the info bralth.
RE: really?
# Jun 08 2003 at 3:27 PM Rating: Default
You can meditate while sitting down, so I think he was talking about mana regeneration. But then again, if you have a horse, you dont have to worry about that anyway!

That would rule for a shaman, Horse+Fungi+Heart+Bandages.
RE: really?
# Dec 30 2002 at 11:40 AM Rating: Decent
You're both missing an important point here. This item is great for doing both: regenerating AND binding wounds. It's pretty awesome for allowing melee classes to solo and then repair themselves after combat.

Without this item, a shammy should consider both bind wounds and spell-based regen. Together they can do quite a bit!

# Aug 30 2002 at 6:41 AM Rating: Decent
Youre joking arent you?

Your far quicker sitting getting mana instead of bandaging, then cast a regeneration line of spell.

I realise that you're possibly trying to save mana by bandaging over healing, but its a false economy - sit down :)

I'd say this is best for NON-monks and warriors. Why?

201 Bind Wounds skill is the magic number. With 200 bind wounds skill (cap for bard, paladin, ranger, shadowknight and, presumably, beastlord) you can bind wounds to 50% hp.

With 201 bind wounds skill, you can bind wounds to 70% hp. If a warrior or monk used this, it'd be a small improvement to their 201 Bind Wounds skill. For anyone else, it'd be +10% = 220 Bind Wounds skill, enough to Bind Wounds to 70% hp.

So for anyone BUT a Warrior or a Monk, it'd be EXCELLENT for downtime. If the Warrior or Monk has no regeneration item, it'd be great for them too. If they do have a regen item, then it causes them to gain only +5 hp or so per bandaid...not much compared to the improvement for the others.

*shrug* Not that this bard's ever going to go for it ;) Have a regen item myself, and plenty content with it!

I realize this post was written in 2002, but just to modernize this post, skill caps in bind wound for hybrids are 210 now (at least for Paladins this is true, i'm pretty certain that it is the same for the others.)

Additionally, SOE has changed it so that you can now use the bind wound skill while sitting. So you may meditate and use your bind wound skill.

This is also an advantage for melee because sitting HP regen was also changed to increase substantially after about 2 minutes, sit long enough and you can get over 100hp/tick regen (for a high level character). This is ONLY while sitting, and if you stand up to take another action it will reset and you will need to sit still again for 2 more minutes.

So being able to sit while binding wounds was a positive change. Making bandages worth using again.

Uhmm, I was planning to write a post saying shamans also have bind wound skill cap above 200, but then I thought I would go check that first, to prevent myself from writing a dumb post, ehehe. So I checked on some sites : shaman bind wound skill cap is at 200. However, I am 100% certain my shaman currently has a 201+ skill in bind wounds, and he can definately bind wounds to 70%. Anyone care to comment on that discrepancy? Is my info incorrect or am I overlooking something?
RE: Actually...
# Jan 23 2002 at 11:19 PM Rating: Default
Actually, shaman's bind wound will max at skill of 210. I'm a 60 monk and my wife plays a 60 shaman. She's able to bind herself up to 70% same as I can (actually 90% here with 2 points into Alt XP skill of First Aid). As for the individual who said that it would be good except for Warriors and Monks, I would find that completely wrong. ANY extra regen is a nice thing to have plain and simple. I have a Fungi Tunic and 3 bags of bandages on me at all times, and I can safely solo in Maidens or The Grey with my monk. Having that extra Regen for downtime first aid would help immensely, especially with an extra 10% added onto my bind skill. Best of luck on this drop folks =)
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 24 2002 at 9:01 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) If you have a fungi, you won't get any extra regen from this. It's like haste; you benefit from only one haste item that you equip. Likewise, you benefit from only one regen item. Please do correct me if I'm wrong about this but I'm 90% sure that's how it is.

Fungal Regrowth and this iteam do stack... Because this iteam has chloroblast, and fungi tunic has fungal regrowth.. two different "spells" or whatever... but if both of them had say regeneration or chloro, then they wouldnt stack... haste on iteams doesnt stack because the effect has the same name... shaman etc haste stacks because the spell isnt called haste i think

Wow! Thanks for the explanation! If correct, and I'm sure you are, it makes the checking of spell and item stackability simple! Same name of effect/spell = no stack. Diff name = stack. Awesome! Thank you!
RE: Doesn't add regen...

Fungi staff + fungi tunic stack and it is the same effect even. (Not sure if this was changed at some point more recently, but it did and still does far as I'm aware)

Chloro from this and Fungal Regrowth should stack without problems. 25 item regen during down time would be real nice if soloing.

As for who benefits from it, I have a little different view, and not just cause I'm a monk. Binding wounds is MOSTLY a solo, sometimes duo, rarely raid/full gruop activity.

Paladins heal very well if they solo, they don't need to BW to heal quick. I'm sure some BW, but not often by the 50+ game.

Rangers have lesser healing skills, get gheal at 57, but I still see rangers Self healing over binding all the time. Beastlords have same/similar PC healing skills as ranger, however they don't tank much, why they have big nasty pet with great pet heals.

Bards heal themselves very fast with there regen songs at downtime. Anyways, the typical bard solos using fear song and usually haven't much downtime solo healing afterwards, unless things went wrong.

Leaving SKs as the only hybrid. They can tap some to regain HP, but not very efficient for them. But much like bards...Snare/Fear solo tactic is very powerful. Often resulting in the SK needing to spend downtime more for regaining mana than HPs.

Down to the three full melees who have no way to heal when solo other than regen items, binding, or sitting on their butts and waiting a long time, especially in case of warriors.

Rogues can solo, but I find they usually rather not 50+. If things aren't going well, they don't have the hp/ac of an equally equiped warrior and can get in real trouble. This would be decent item for rog, but many would rarely use it I think.

Warriors have tons of hp/ac and can kill dark blues in the right areas if their equipment is good 50+. Downtime can be a big problem. Most I've witnessed soloing have a healing bp, or lacking that will need a fungi and binding to heal. Could be good on warrior if they are into soloing.

Monks can solo pretty well in a number of places and is the class most frequently using the bind skill to heal in solo/duo downtime situations.

I know people don't like to hear it, tired of every monk wannabe screaming 'monk monk monk!' and I agree, it gets old when most of these people are under 50 or just trolling, probably not even monks.

However there are reasons why binding items, small mansi plant and such often go to monks. Fact that they use BW the most frequently of other classes.

Great item for several classes, but only of large benefit to pure melees who solo a fair amount. Otherwise it sits in bag/bank and wastes away. /shrug

Um, the reason they both stack is because the effect on the staff is clicked, while the effect on fungi tunic is when worn.
RE: Doesn't add regen...
# Apr 02 2002 at 12:59 AM Rating: Decent
Pallies above 45 don't bind wound because we have DW helms) (Manaless healing, you can't beat that with a stick)
RE: Doesn't add regen...
# Mar 03 2002 at 1:45 AM Rating: Default
The reason they stack is because tunic is perminant and staff is clickable effect (just like a spell). Regen effects are just like haste, you can have 1perminant, 1spell, 1song stack, no more. Thus this would not stack with fungi tunic.

regen spells stack also druid replenishment+natures recovery stack for 55 regen a tick and will stack with atleast pally line breath of tunare (self only) beast line SR 9 hp/mana tick not including heal over time or hp buff regens a pally can regen 76 a tick in spells alone and hit 100 a tick easily

Not true.
Fungi Tunic has a worn effect of Fungal Regrowth (15hp)
Belt of the Great Turtle has the worn effect of Aura of Battle (2hp)
When I wear both, I get an added regen of 17hp per tick over what I normally get.

In general, the only way to know if 2 effects stack is to actually try it out.

He's won't let a MONK bind to 80%.

However, any class that can't bind to 70% but has their bind wounds skill maxed at 200 will be able to bind to 70% with this because it pushes their skill past 200.

For him, +10% = +21 skill = +5 hp per bandaid.

For me, +10% = +20 skill = 220 skill. Because that breaks the 201 skill barrier, I can then bind wounds to 70%.

Reading IS good.
I have one of these
# Jan 22 2002 at 8:07 PM Rating: Good
Here's what I know.

It dropped during the Caller Cycle

off one of the named mobs.

The chloroplast effects (on me) seems to be +14 per tick. Tho it might be +12 as I have trained 2 AltXp points into regen. I haven't tested if it stacks with the Chlorplast line of spells (it doesnt show as a buff, so perhaps it does) nor do I own a fungi Tunic to test it with that.

The Bind Wounds percentage is NOT to the maximum amount you can bind. It's +10% to the amount your band aid heals. Ie: as a monk with 210 bind wounds I can bind to 70%. Using this item does NOT allow me to bind to 80%. Instead, it adds to the amount I heal. (210/4 + 10% = 52 + 5) = 57 point of damage.

It *IS* marvelous for use while FD after a hard pull or wipeout. I have, however, forgot to put it away. Luckily the graphic (red blinking light) is quite distinctive and some of my groupmate will hollar at me to put it away of they see me with 'my blinky'.

It's nice that it's tradeable as well. I've managed to get an entire group of FD monks and SK's healed up with this by breaking FD long enough to hand it off to the next person.

Does this stack with fungi? If so, how much regen does it add?

Also, how hard would this be to get?

And to the guy who said your hp would "kaboom" to full in no time flat... maybe at lvl 20, hehe. But this would be great for decreasing downtime of course.

They don't "stack" so to speak yet my barb warrior with perm regen (ikky bp) gets 12pts of regen per tick (6hp every 1/2tick. it alternates, going up 6 then 6 more for 12 per tick) when he gets regen cast upon him so you do get the benefits of both.
Here's what I'm thinking...
# Jan 21 2002 at 9:21 PM Rating: Default
This item is only truly beneficial to SK's and Monks, and here's why in a nutshell: Feign Death.

You pull a big huge mob, kill it barely, have say 100hp left, and boom you can FD. Throw this little badboy into your primary slot, and (along with a Fungi Tunic especially) kaboom. Your HP are almost totally full again in no time flat.

All I can say is thank GOD they didn't put NEC or SHM on this item, or no one else would ever be able to afford one.

I think you'd still be doing Chloro. Ceremonial Iksar Chestplate: Efftect, regen. stacks with spell regen (and chloro) So this most likely stacks.

The only regen I have heard of that does NOT stck with a cast regen is the 10th Coldain Ring. so if you got it, this and a fungi..... Ah, shammie heaven (How I wish I had those.... course, that'd be about 35Hp a tick, which would almost exactly balance a constant Canni..... Till you get the Level 59 Canni... THen you need more....)

I want to clear up misconceptions from the above post. My main point: There's no regen in Norath that can keep up with the cannibalize line, not even close.

Your main point about shamans use of regen spells is true, except at those levels you'd never use cloroplast. Regrowth is much better. With an iksar bp and regrowth my 56 barb shammy gets 26 hp per tick standing up.

There is no 59 canni. Canni IV, the highest, is 58th.

Canni IV can be used one per tick, takes 148 HP and gives 82 mana.
Canni III can be used about 3 times per tick, each takes 74 HP and gives ~37 mana. So depending which of those you use you're losing 148 or 222 HP per tick (and gaining either 82 mana or 111 mana). No regen can come close to matching that.
But you can see from the numbers that at lvl 59 you don't need more regen than at 54 when you get canni III.

Even Canni II, if you're still using that, won't permit any regen to keep up, cuz it's 67 hp every second and a half or so.
