Honestly, that's a nice little piece of agi to have there. Yeah, not the best, but int isn't the /only/ stat casters need to worry about. +agi = living longer when something goes wrong. Also in the case of necs, it means a better chance to avoid getting hit to successfully cast that FD. Are there better things than this? Sure, you bet! Am I going to complain if I get a pair of these? Nope! You know why? Because the fact that there are better things than this doesn't make these useless.
These boots are part of a set. In this case, they are pretty focused on AGI. The robe is mostly STA/INT. The trousers are STA/AGI. I expect that once stats are well known for the other pieces, you will see that as a set, this armor pumps all of the most important INT-caster stats quite nicely and delivers more AC than such classes usally have.
Could you get better? Sure, but in this case, you can hunt for the whole set in one place starting around 50 (or lower if you have high-level friends).
Only odd thing is that these class-drops in Umbral seem aimed at lowering the amount of time you have to spend questing or guild-raiding for higher level goodies. You get your character up to 50 as fast as you can (PLing a twink you can get there in 1-3 weeks, depending on how much time you play during that time), then run to Umbral with a group for your nodrop set and get to the mid-50s before moving on to the uber zones.
VI picked the perfect name for these boots. I will stick with my Apothic boots because I'm not going to waste my time getting another set of boots that are just as crappy. I would rather go sit in the Efreeti room of Sol B and get a pair of GEBs.
How do these even compare to Golden efretti boots? Even for a necro, these are horrible, even compared to shadowbound boots! For hells sake they are int-caster boots with NO INT! I see these boots being left to rot. (no pun)
these would rock for a necro in my opinion. I got these for my mage..... I got them in a group at lvl 46 waiting till I hear that ding of 50 before I put them on just because
I'm pretty sure that's incorrect. Being below the recommended level will proportionately reduce any stat on an item, not just AC. Only reason these might not get affected is because they're so low to begin with (except the AGI). I don't see the purpose of these boots. The negative cha might be just a teensy bit valuable to those who like to fear mobs, but other than that these rotting boots are best left to do just that - rot. As for the point above about agility keeping you alive when things start heading south, I'd say that if the only thing standing between you and death is an extra 12 (or 20 or 50) agility points, 99 times out of 100 you're as good as dead. But if you had found something with 3 or 4 int points instead, that might just give you enough extra mana to get off a gate or a root that saves you.
