When you summon the gear it's tradable, so I look at the level /gear cutoffs and use my higher-level guys to summon the gear for my smaller toons. That way they can wear it the second they reach the appropriate level.
The marketplace now specifies exactly what level of the different Defiant armor and jewelery packs you can receive at your character level.
1-14 Crude Defiant
15-24 Simple Defiant
25-34 Rough Defiant
35-44 Ornate Defiant
45-54 Flawed Defiant
55-64 Intricate Defiant
65-74 Elaborate Defiant
75-84 Elegant Defiant
85+ Extravagant Defiant
1-14 Crude Defiant
15-24 Simple Defiant
25-34 Rough Defiant
35-44 Ornate Defiant

The defiant armor you get (other than crude for starters) is based on being at the 5 level to buy defiant off of Keefe and Iason the 2 NPC in PoK across from the crescent reach stone, if you are in the range to wear say intricate, but can't buy the non vis intricate , then you will get the lower level gear.
I used this on a lvl 51 toon expecting to get intricate since flawed recommened lvl is 50. IT still gave me flawed :/
Update used it on another toon at 53... still flawed.

I got on my account from 1999 and even made it gold membership, then i made a F2P account and the F2P account has 999 of these items in its claims window where as my account that was created back in 1999 and was active all the way up to 2006 and is a gold membership has none at all, is that a bug or are old players out of luck while new accounts get pieces of gear for free. It wouldn't be such a big deal but my gold account has maybe 100 plat to his name so it isn't like i can go to the Bazaar and buy some defiant armor and a mercenary and get right into playing, i gotta go farm some plat and hope i don't run through the merc that is costing me 16 plat every 15 minutes.

At level 59 I claimed this hoping to get Elaborate Defiant, I got Intricate Defiant, Oh well.
Please make a note here of what type you get at what level.

On the final one I got:
"You rummage through the items looking for an item, but come up empty handed.... You already have a full set of defiant armour for your level."
So it seems to gives you what you don't have, rather than totally random.
I have 1 Legacy Satchel I can claim per account or something rubbish but some people can claim like 989 of these how do they get them?? that's ridiculous makes my 6.1 years of vet look crap too

It's not one per account, it's one per toon. If you check your claim window, you should see around 1000 of them in there per account, unless you've claimed alot of them.

when Scabbard of Hope was clicked it used true north spell then summoned Elaborate Defiant weapon.

Spoke to sony about this, apparently the package disappearing is a knwon issue and dev is looking into it. I would try again after the next update.
Update was on the 11th and today.
No changes..
I thought I have to put away all items from the gift (used all potions and put items to another char), but the effect was the same.
"You can only redeem this item once per character. Please try again on a different character"

Same here. Even swapped servers, created a new toon to no avail. What's up with this?

Yeah I tried it on every toon I have and I couldn't claim it. I know someone that claimed it on every toon they have. What have I done wrong or does my account not qualify? What's with the 1000 count too?

I've tried to claim on my pally and it tells me the item turns to dust in my fingers, no idea whats going on I've tried 8 times and no luck.

why would sony give that amount of stuff only to be used 1 time by each toon...does anyone know if its once a day or just 1 per toon...need help

Tried opening so far 14 of them and they all poofed on me.Says i can only claim one per char and never claimed one before ever
