Max haste is 9 delay, not 10...

Liveye (lvl 75 Wizard)
posthaste delay-
# Aug 16 2005 at 12:36 PM Rating: Default
with ornate clicky and fairly common 36% haste this item has 10 delay, which is the lowest you can get... basically self hasted 13/10 1hander. pretty good.
Main weapon
# Jun 07 2004 at 7:46 AM Rating: Decent
I see alot of posts w/ people guessing the effectiveness of this weapon. I have it equipped in main hand w/ an anger 3 proc aug (1150 pts in EP ldon), and The Rotting Fist 16/20 dot proc, and anger 2 aug in offhand. I can honestly say that this is the best pure aggro weapon ive seen yet w/ an anger proc. Before you start yelling...I DO have a BoC that I have used in main as opposed to this and still believe this to be the best IF an anger 3 aug is added to it.
RE: Main weapon
# Aug 11 2004 at 12:43 AM Rating: Decent
better than a BoC with that same anger 3 aug?

Its been proven that weapon delay does not affect proc rate, but the sheer dps from this weapon is enough to turn the heads of quite a few opponents. would be a killer primary weapon for a non VT/EP enabled ranger.

Umm, I'd tend to disagree. As would many other rangers. Check the Cursed cycle and you'll see the ranger weapon that rangers want.

12/16 is nothing to swoon over. It's fast, yes - with no proc on it, it's still nothing.

But, wait - there is a Type 4 augment on it. Yeah, but most of the raiding guilds that do raid this cycle don't bother with LDoN. If you do put an aug on it, it'd still not be worth it, because there are better swords that drop in the Tier 2 planes, such as Torment or Tier 3 like BoT / HoH.

Warrior Weapon?
# Jul 18 2002 at 10:45 PM Rating: Decent
This is a Nice weapon I won't deny that, but most warriors I know would pass up on it. Don't flame me It's the truth. Warriors need to taunt and take damage, that's their job. Not so much as doing damage as taking it. This has no proc (procs create massive aggro, dmg delay helps but procs do most the work on high end mobs) but is still good for one's offhand EXCEPT for the fact that It has no HP on it. If they added 75+ hp to it A lot of warriors who would be jumping on it (myself included). Grats to Bards and Rogues cause this is a damn fine weapon that will do massive damage.

I am constantly and consistantky amaized at people lack of self thinking and inability of thinking outside the box so to speak. These weapons, low delay/great ratio/no proc, OWN with agro. Now stop and think before you start to embarase yourselves. How can a Warrior get a Proc without a procing weapon? There are many, many ways. Now weather your Trickstered, Crow'd, have a Bard playing their Proc song or maybe even did the SS quest for potions of Draconic Rage, you can have an extremely fast weapon that is now procing alot.

These weapons are awesome for an Warrior who knows how to keep agro, they just need to think a little beyond what is being written here.

Its a ok weapon basically good for a mob that has some sort of magic aoe spell thats about it other than that the weapon is junk oh and the 16 delay on is nice but with hastes ALL Weapons max at 9 delay just my 2 cents

re: taunt
# Mar 19 2002 at 3:14 PM Rating: Decent
Everyone is complaining that it doesnt taunt enough but if you stop and think for a second you only have 1 warrior tanking and I assume the rest of your warriors are probably attacking and hoping not to die in the meantime. So yeah fine maybe its not good for maintanking but its good for the other people since you need to have some decent mainhand weapon without a proc.

RE: re: taunt
# Oct 04 2002 at 4:02 PM Rating: Default
This hits fast so it might be good for a main tank.. a weapon with a good proc would be alot better.. And a non main tank warrior should never worry about geting agro unless they are dumb enough to taunt.. The only thing that lets warriors get and keep agro is taunt and now certain uber procing weapons like the Blade of Carnage and the Hate Giver. Warriors should be able to get agro unlsee they are taunting usualy
RE: re: taunt
# Nov 05 2003 at 8:14 PM Rating: Decent
I own one of these. Let me tell you that this thing is UNGODLY. I can keep agro on anything you name. Keep in mind, mobs are attracted to whatever does the most damage to it. Now lest we also forget the best application...PvP. Try and get a spell of while someone is ripping you up with one of these. Not going to happen. Find one of these and keep it. Worth everything you pay for it and then some.
Don't Negatize
# Mar 13 2002 at 7:36 PM Rating: Excellent
All you people saying this weapon is crap and worthless to warriors, you know if one of these were offered to you, you would take it without second thought, and use it without second thought. Most Warriors aren't as uber as you people who sit on allakhazam and flame every single weapon that you can find a flaw with, not everything in the game is made to up the stats of YOUR choice, weapons are made with uber dmg/dly and with crappy side stats. I being a wood elf warrior, by a bad choice, wouldnt want the taunt of high lvl mobs, as i would die quickly, so a weapon with 12/16 dmg/dly would be awesome for an offensive warrior, so go flame in the game and stop sitting on a damn forum making fun of weapons.
RE: Don't Negatize
# Jul 13 2002 at 12:52 PM Rating: Good
Don't knock yourself for choosing a woodie warrior. One of the best warriors I know is a 60 woodie. I myself have a 56 gnome warrior and there are 2 lvl 60 gnome warriors on our server that I know of that are excellent tanks and can buff up to over 5000hp for raids, just like ogres can.

Ogres are common and preferrable simply because they cannot be stunned from the front which helps alot with maintaining agro. If you aren't an ogre warrior, then you might as well be any other race cause they can all be geared up and buffed up to about the same level as them ... but you'll still get stunned whether you are a troll or a gnome.

I just think it's fun to be a gnome tanking dragons and giants and the like. I am not in a uber guild and will prolly never see a weapon like this and don't feel bad about it at all. I have nothing against them; and I would, of course, love to see some of these places; but my schedule would never allow me to be in one; so I enjoy the game with my smaller band of hellraisers and still have a blast.

Play the game (yes, it is just a game) and have fun with whichever character you choose; and maybe one day we all will find ourselves in places like these ... ya never know.

tuant
# Jan 20 2002 at 10:14 PM Rating: Decent
Any wepon that proc's builds more argo than a non proc'in wepon. with 255 dex (which i imgine most with this have) a proc'in wepon would be much more efficent. And i also aggree that this should go to bards, the less tuant they have the better.
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 07 2002 at 10:30 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Even if it doesnt proc it still would be a good taunting weapon ... my old bard use to dual wield wakazashis of the frozen skies and he never got too many people on him ...
soso warrior weapon
# Jan 20 2002 at 4:11 AM Rating: Decent
I have this whip. It is a very nice item, and does great damage in mainhand. But it doesn't seem to generate a whole lot of taunt. I use this mainhand and scepter of destruction offhand when I don't want aggro, and scepter mainhand and braid of golden hair offhand when I do. After several weeks of testing, we give these to bards mostly now. This would be an awesome ranger weapon, but unfortunately most rangers carry their haste offhand, so they wouldn't want it anyway.

With 41% haste, VoG, and added bard haste, this thing is a blur!

I'm sorry dude, with 16 delay, 20MR AND AND AND 15ac, and 0.1 wt and 10sta, this weapon is killer. Don't spout that "so-so" nonsense.

If you're that uber, start over because the game can't possibly be fun anymore.
RE: soso warrior weapon
# Jan 22 2002 at 12:01 PM Rating: Decent
Dark is right. The game is much more fun. I still have several slots that I can improve, and I can raid for fun more because I don't need as much stuff. What you are looking for in gear changes when you start to top out stuff.

15 AC - nearly worthless. My buffed AC is over 1350. My own testing and some other warriors that I respect proves that anything over 1250 is basically wasted, especially against level 65-70 mobs.

10 sta - totally worthless. I have 218 sta unbuffed. With shaman buff I am 255. Anything over 205 sta is wasted.

20 MR - not worthless, but not worth using a low taunt weapon.

In the 60 game, when you are raiding all the time, taunt is the only thing that matters. This is not a bad weapon at all. The ratio is better than Jaelins. The damage output is very good. The problem is, as a warrior, my job isn't to do damage, my job is to maintain aggro, and this weapon doesn't do that well enough. The SoD, at 12/18 does a much better job, and has raw hit points to boot!

Wow... actually... the game becomes MUCH more fun... instead of worrying about "Ph4t l3wtz" they actually go on raids and adventures and epic quests...

He's simply stating what most higher lvl characters would like to know about the technical aspects of its taunt...

The game doesn't necessarily end once you get awesome gear... and why start over when there's so much to do at high levels!

The most annoying weapon...
# Jan 18 2002 at 10:52 AM Rating: Decent
For some reason I was given this weapon as a Rogue. I'm guessing the warriors had better and the bards either had better or this was viewed to be more useful on a rogue. Unfortunately the 1HS of it keeps it in the offhand for me.

I rate it the most annoying weapon since the speed of it in the primary hand generates the whipcracking sound waaaay too much. Is cool at first but wears out after a while.

this is best primary hand slasher for a warrior , so i doubt anyone had better
RE: The most annoying weapon...

This is not the best primary hand slasher for a warrior by a longshot, in my personal opinion that honor goes to the new weapons that proc "Enraging Blow" (basically adds 700pts of hate). Believe one drops off Avatar of War, and one off Xerkizh the Creator if ya care to look em up.

close to delay cap
# Jan 18 2002 at 9:33 AM Rating: Default
Isnt this weapon to close to the delay cap? I have hear people say that the cap is at 11 and that the cap is at 10. (I dont have anything that fast to test :) My point being that at these lvls needed to get this item most MAs have or are looking for a haste item. If there is an enchanter in the group to stack haste would it not be better to use a higher damage slower weap. Of course if there wasnt anyone to put you over the cap this thing would eat a casters lunch :)
RE: close to delay cap
# Apr 18 2004 at 1:18 PM Rating: Default
the Delay cap is a myth. there isn't one, other than the delay obviously can't go lower than 1.

I Know how monks always offer there opinoin on an item, so this poor Ranger will offer his. This ia a damm nice weapon. I would love to get my hands on one of these bad boys. My Lupine Dagger and I would be tearing up the town! But alas, not for Rangers:(

This weapon is definetly a main tank weapon, the AC and MR being a huge help for those uber mobs, and the STA is nice but its not like your ever going to run out swinging this weapon.

RE: Drool...

while you are correct they won't run out of stamina, it's not a concern to a high lvl tank. after 100 sta is reached, even with nothing on your stamina bar you will still attack with normal speed and no penalties. just an FYI.
RE: Drool...
# Jan 18 2002 at 2:09 AM Rating: Default
That STA will also bump up the warriors HP on top of reducing fatigue, so that they can take more of those melee and casting hits that they'll now be taking less of.

I know it's pointing out the obvious, please don't flame me for it though.

Dunno if it really is common, you need to remember that the DB defaults to "Common" if Allakhazam doesn't enter a rarity.

Though, both times I've met the Glyphed Serpent, he was carrying this Whip. So who knows - maybe it is his common drop ;)

This should really go the person on a raid who is most likely to function as a MT (main tank) in the future for the group. The dmg/dly is very nice, actually its extraordinary. But the AC and STA will mostly help the person taking the beating, and the 20 MR helps a lot when they are fighting a big mob thats trying to fear them.
