These (Hardy Pants) are Terra's common drop, while it's rare drop is the pair of Enduring Pants. Both look like plain "old world" black leather on Humans, and brown leather on Iksar- safe to assume it looks like plain leather on all races.

At the level one could get experience acquiring these the AC:WT ratio is acceptable, but by mid-higher levels these are about useless to melees, except for perhaps Monks (and Beastlords?) who have fewer alternatives than other melee classes.

Terra, and all the other "big" named Ele's (Hydro, Inferno, and Aero) seem to be on a 4 day timer. In the week-long time that I have spent AE-clearing Ele' Isle, I have had only one named spawn per 24 hour period, with an "uncommon named" (berzerk, hulking, swift, etc) appearing about once every two hours or so.

Re-spawns are pretty fast, somewhere in the range of 10-15 minutes, and some of the elementals were blue and light-blue to a level 40 character. With 2 high-level characters, I was never able to keep to entire Island cleared.

Lower level characters BEWARE- once KoS to Ele's it will be easy for an individual or small group to be overwhelmed with adds during a fight.

This area is lousy for farmers, thankfully, but an excellent alternative to Unrest and Upper Guk for powerlevelling through the 20's and low-mid 30's beacuse of the decent re-pop rate, and decent rare drops.

Magician Epic pet > elemental island in Twilight Sea. Once I got to kos finally (took a long while for agnostic gnome, though any named is a much bigger hit than normal ones), all I did was agro every mob I saw with melee and train them all around till Jobaner got around to mangling em. The fire elementals did the most damage to him by FAR, due to damage shield. Once done, I was ahead of spawn, afk for 5 min. Kinda silly, but I was killing time waiting for my group to do named in Katta :evil :)

The named are NOT on a long, multi-day timer- they are simply random... so clearing everything as it spawns is the surest way to get some decent drops. Good Post!
Party Pants?

Someone mentioned the possibility of a new item called "Party Pants". I think they should create such an item. Then you could do a quest where you combine the "Party Pants" and the "Hardy Pants" in a container to get "Party-Hardy Pants".

As regards this being a "monk item", I play a level 55 monk that wears gator pants at the moment. This would be an upgrade to them. However, I think that my next upgrade in this area might be the new monk quest pants. They weigh less and have slightly better stats.

People who get incensed at people that say "Monk item!" usually fall into one of six categories:

(1) They are low enough level that the "monk item" would actually be an upgrade to them. When they actually get high enough level to get the item, they will consider it trash and not care if monks get it. This is particularly the case with people that are not high enough to go on raids who are talking about raid-level loot.

(2) They belong to a weak guild or are guildless and have to settle for poorer quality gear. The item in question is an upgrade for them even though it wouldn't be for most people of their level and class.

(3) They play on a PvP server. Items we take for granted on a regular server can be very hard to get on a PvP server and may even be considered "uber". Also, on a PvP server, NBG (need before greed) is a much rarer thing. Items usually don't go to the person that can use them the best. They go to the person that wins the roll.

(4) At some point in the past, a monk got defaulted an item they wanted a shot at, and they are still ticked off about it.

(5) The very "uberest" of gear out there is often usable by a wide variety of classes and races and often has a very low weight. I am talking about loot from places like the north wing of the Temple of Veeshan. If you applied the same rules to these items for determining their "monkliness" that you used on loot in the past, then maybe a fourth of the uber items would default to monks. Some monks who read about such items (almost always monks that are far too low to get them and/or don't belong to a guild that can handle such places) do not realize how the rules change in such places and gleefully post comments about the wonderful "monk item" they have discovered. People see these remarks and get angry and rant about them.

(6) In certain circumstances, it is more appropriate to use random rolls rather than NBG. Sometimes a person will try to get NBG in a place where that gives them a grossly unfair advantage over the others in the party. If they are all in the same guild or are friends that group together often, it might not be that big a deal. Otherwise, random rolling is usually the way to go. People who have seen monks try to claim NBG in such circumstances might carry a grudge against monks.

Also, most people who get mad about the "monk item" comment don't seem to understand what it means. If a person posts something like, "Wow! This is a great monk item!", they don't necessarily mean, "Nobody but monks should even be considered for this item!" They probably mean, "This would be a great item for a monk to wear/wield if perchance they were the one awarded the item." Usually, when the phrase "monk item" is used to mean "monk only", it comes from someone who is not a monk.

P.S. Kromriff leggings are way too heavy for what you get out of them, even with the higher weight limits you get at level 60.

Wonderfully put.
Another thing to consider, mebbe you don't think those lousy monks NEED such good gear, but next time you are on a high lvl raid, say dragon's or planes, i bet that poor worn out monk would be HAPPY to take a break while you go pull for him ;)
Monks are probably the BEST indoor pullers, but this doesn't mean they waltz in, tag something, and tapdance out. i have been on far too many raids, where you get an ooc "ah hell", and 3 seconds later get a tel from the pulling monk " can you go get my body"
Monks have a tough job, and altho OF COURSE the rogues deserve all the REALLY cool stuf, i fel that monks should get the OCCASIONAL leftover scraps ;)

I don't quite agree with your statement about monks getting the left over gear... The monks do have a hard job, but they have an incredible damage out-put that any class would love to have.

I have seen a level 55 monk tear though a mob for breakfast and then had over half his hit points left. They have soo much gear to choose from when you look at all the items out there. I think Varent has done a <i>better</i> job at mixing the equipment around for all classes. Some maybe easier to get than others, but they are out there.

You forget to mention that a monk (and Shadow Knight) have an ability to avoid dying. Its called Feign Death. True it has more of a chance of failing at higher levels but you still have a chance. Classes such as a ranger, druid, paladin, shaman, cleric, magician, wizard, bard, rogue, and warrior don't have an ability to get their name off a mob's hate list. True druids, rangers, and shamans have sow, but what high level mob doesn't run faster than sow now? Many of the mobs running around kunark and luclin run as fast or faster than sow. So those classes that have the ability to Feign Death have a BIG tension reliever if they mess the pull up.

Monks have a HUGE choice in equipment they can use that not many classes have, so stating monks don't have that good of equipment isn't neccessarily true. Do a search for Monk Tunics and you will be amazed.

these things are HORRIBLE VERY bad for the time/effort it takes... i camped elemental island for 4 days straight... around 40 hours... and never saw any of the "god" elementals this item is pitiful for how rare the named are

These pants were dropped by Terra, but when they dropped for me I was thinking that perhaps this was his common drop and that he might have a rare drop along the lines of the Fetish of the Agile ( https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=7488 ) But considering the time it seemed to get Terra to spawn I haven't decided whether or nor not it would be worth farming greenies.

These are nice monk pants, lightweight too and decent stats. We monks need all the options we can get, as we're severely limited =)

Would you monks please shut up already? "This is a monk item", "Monks get the shaft" - ENOUGH! It wasn't even funny in the first place and now its just a waste of damn space on the page. These pants are not the quality that a level 40 would be wearing, except maybe a monk but they are nothing to drool over. And if you are gonna put these with your monk twink, then you will just be joining the rest of the people with monk twinks, because i am sure that you have all noticed that they have become as popular as druids. Anyway, just wanted to point out that i hate you Jorlen and i hope you never talk again.

Hehe, I don't know about you, but I'm almost 50 and these were better than what I had... nice AC for the weight, and makes up for the stamina I'll lose when I replace my dragonhide belt with an FBSS, which I pan on doing soon.

whoa there buddy, calm down. I do agree with you, but I think you've started the New Years festivities a tad early...
monks will never be as popular as dr00ds, hehe.
Monks aren't so "severely limited" sa they used to be, but for some reason I think Jorlen may have been kidding...if not, flame on ppl, hehe

Anyways, ya, they're monk pants. Like he said any other class would have something better by lv 40, or I'd certainly hope they would...

My first character in EQ and still my main is a monk, started August '00.

The reason you see monks posting with such excitement (most of the time) is because our choices are extremely limited because of our weight restriction. Other times it's just some doofus trolling for attention.

If you play a monk for any length of time, you will quickly come to realize this.

Don't believe me? Check it out yourself...
Click on Equipment Search (over to the left there) and sort for Monk Leggings with a weight of 1 or less... even 2 or less if you like. You'll quickly realize that before Luclin 80% of the average level 40 and under monks were basically wearing gatorscale.

Just thought you should know so you won't stick your foot in your mouth next time.

I know every item that is even remotely useful to monks gets branded 'monk item,' but ya know what? These legs fall behind only Nathsar Legs (ever seen a pair for sale?) and Oiled Greaves (got a LOT of money?) in terms of tradeable monk pants that give you good AC/HP. Oh and the probably-as-rare Acrylia legs. At level 56 I'm still wearing gatorscale, so I'm entitled to be pleased when I see a new pair of pants that I might actually be able to get.

At 56 you might want to consider Kromrif Military Leggings. Two of the three 55+ monkies I know wear them. You get double the AC of Gatorscale and 6 STR thrown in for good measure. They DO weigh 4lbs, unfortunately. But the monkies I know say it doesn't cause a problem for them. Guess it would depend on your other gear\wep and just how much money you want to be able to carry around while fighting. :P
Wouldn't recommend for the lower monkies with lower weight limits, though.

They wouldn't be hearty pants unless you were planning to eat them, or they were happy to see you.

Hearty: warm-hearted, affectionate, cordial, jovial; a hearty welcome. (or) Substantial, abundant, nourishing.

Hardy: capable of enduring fatigue, hardship, exposure, etc. Sturdy, strong.

Pants that add stamina and hitpoints would be more appropriately called hardy pants than hearty pants. Very appropriate name. Above average for Verant.
