Shadows of Luclin
These are not easy to get (unless you're just plain lucky). Here are some helpful facts about this camp:
1) The Battlemaster cannot spawn in either location, only in the spot on the right as you are facing them (in other words, you're looking right into their faces... as you would if you were coming from the Akheva zone).
2) If he has the hammer in his hand, he will not have the shoulders (may have a Goranga Idol though).
3) The lower level Battlemasters (light blue to a 65) will drop hammer and/or shard and/or nothing. The higher level Battlemasters (blue to a 65) will drop the pauldrons and/or shard and/or nothing.
4) Another way of saying it: Higher level Battlemasters are the only ones which drop the pauldrons. Lower level Battlemasters are the only ones which drop hammer. Any can drop shard. None will drop both hammer and pauldrons.
5) Battlemaster/PH spawns are 24min 40secs apart.
If you are campng this item, don't get too excited if the Battlemaster pops and has the hammer in his hand... he won't have pauldrons (he will also con light blue to a 65). Also, the lower level Battlemaster seems to be the more common spawn. Just guesses here in this chart, but probably pretty close to the odds:
Battlemaster spawns about 5% of the time in that one spot (making him quite rare, 1 in 20 chance).
Lower level Battlemaster spawns about 75% of all Battlemaster spawns, so higher level one would cover the other 25%.
Of the higher level Battlemaster spawns, about 80% will drop the pauldrons.
Any Battlemaster has about a 50% chance of dropping shard.
Do get excited if a Battlemaster spawns and has no hammer and is dark blue to a 65, there is a very high chance he will have pauldrons... but it's not certain.

I was camping the shard with 65 chanter, 55 NEcro and 65 BST for my wizard (63).
Was near Akheva zone in, killing all scouts, then after about 4-5 hours battlemaster popped, got my shard and this nice item for the BST.

OK heres how thi scamp has gone for me so far,
Day 1: camped him for 6 hrs, he pops after 2 and drops nothing...hmmm
Day 2: 7hrs pops 1 time and drops...hmmm nothing!
Day 3: 18 hrs (wasreally pushing limit with wife on this one=p) 3 times. He spawned 2 times in a row and drops a shard each time. Ok thats good as I have 3 toons I bot and get my Sk and wifes rogue a shard...3rd time hmmmm NOTHING.
Day 4: 5 hrs and pops 1 time and drops NOTHING!
I hate this mob SOOOOOO much. I really want those shoulders if ya cant tell. I'll update if I ever get them.

I hear ya. I finally got it after 8 BM kills over the course of several months. My ogre warrior is happy. In that time the BM dropped one SG and 5 shards.
Lesson: if you want these, be prepared for a very long camp or have an immense amound of luck in yer back pocket :-)

I was doing a trade to my Sk with my shammie this morning and when I was done I looked over at the rock and who is standing there...yep you guessed it the battlemaster. I logged the Rogue in and pulled him (only one other peep in the zone and he was DSP zone in) and what does he drop you ask...yep the shoulders...now my wifes Rogue has them. I just couldnt believe after all that time camping him...he was there and just dropped them.
I have killed the battlemaster a few times and I keep getting crap. I got SoG twice and I dont need it. I want the shoulders damnit. So has anyone gotten this lately. Also how many times a day does he spawn? If I kept the spawn area clear.

Still drops. Got one last weekend. Battlemaster seems to spawn at least two different levels. The higher one seems to drop the shoulders. If he is weilding a hammer he wont drop the shoulders but rather some 9dam 20delay basher. At least this is my experience out here the last few weeks.

Just like guy said.Off Battlemaster in front of AR zone.Got the shoulders and other junk no shard though.Ill keep soloin these till I get the SoG as well.I have a lvl 1 SK parked up on hill next to AR that has looted so far these shoulders,the Belt of Defiance,Shrouded Medalion,Shaded Blade and im keeping him here till i get all the drops he can carry.I love twinking alts

they still drop, friend of mine got lucky on loot rights for pauldrons, they dropped off battlemaster... btw the maidens eye beastiary needs upgrading bad =\
I have killed 6 battlemasters and he hasnt dropped the pauldrons yet. Keep getting that ugly axe thing and some stupid hammer. Lucid shards also everytime. Can anyone confirm this still drops?

Is there anywhere near ackieva a high lvl druid (or any solo class really) can solo the Battlemaster spawn without getting add's? Somewhere nearby with no trap spawns?
yes Directly west of the AR zone line is a slow rising draw where Adds are about as rare as the battlemaster spawn.

Battlemaster spawns near ahkeva. There is a rock near the zone where 2 goranga scouts spawn, range from blue to yellow to me at 55. The 1 of the right is the PH for the battle master. like a 20 minute spawn. Battle master can spawn a lvl 54 version of it, which means hes got crap for loot. And he can spawn as a 57(i think) and thats when he has the awesome shoulders on em. Cant wait heh, been camping em for 2 days, im 2nd in line for em with our grp

im speaking for monks. this has to be one of the most kick-*** shoulder items for monks. it sure beats the hell out of the ever so popular drolvarg mantle, by a long shot, i would spend more than 8 hours a day to get this if i had the time

well actually these are great melee shoulders period. The weight makes them especially nice for monks but that shouldn't preclude warriors from getting them. These are on my very short list of wanted upgrades for my warrior. The AC softcap has not been proven or disproven but with over 1300ac when I'm raiding the +10sta on these is awsome as I'm more concerned with getting more hit points than I am ac. Sure if you're low in the AC department then the IGS are a good idea. However, if you've already got 1250ac or better then something with high stamina or +hp is a VERY good idea. Trust me, these shoulders would be a nice upgrade for most any melee class. The added benefit of quite a few resists on it make them all the more appealing.

And to think, all it took was 2 1/2 weeks of camping the BM 8 hours a day on average to get them too /rude verant. Only cost me my sanity and mental well-being.

Maiden's Eye is my new favorite hunting ground...
Fear kiting is the BEST way to group, I love some of the nice drops there, and NO DROP keeps people from farming.
I personally would love these, as Iksars get beat when it comes to their pre-planar/velious armor.
How can you say Risk vs. Reward is bad here? these things are STILL rare, nowhere near as nice as some of the stuff that must be raided for, and we've all been complaining how we don't get anything good for our risks in the first place!

Had a group there today looking for where these popped. Was on my bard not my monk, so when these dropped I defaulted them to the monk in group. Rest agreed, all the tanks had Imbued Granite Spaulders. Hard to say which are better, I think these are better for rogues, bards, or monks since they are usually not tanking as much. These are amazing monk shoulders, but I'll be back to get a pair for both my bard and my monk. Warriors and other heavy tanks should prob pass on these if they have spaulders, the 5ac is bigger than the 50hp and str.
Don't seem to be too rare. I'm a little concerned with the incredible gear dropping in this zone for little or no effort. Risk/reward is all ****** up in luclin =\

Must agree also. Unfortunately we little tankers were SOL on the IGS drops, so this is a great alternative for us. I plan to go get me some as soon as I get a chance.

Does "Heavy tank" = Warrior/Pally/SK?
If so, please bear in mind the IGS can't be worn by the smaller races. I would be delighted to have these on my non-MA dwarf warrior. great AC, extra str (increased ATK - more chance of hitting), more hps and saves (last a little bit longer against those nasty AoEs.

It's actually not smaller races who can't wear IGS...it's just specific ones. Ogres cannot wear IGS either and my warlord is still in Crafted (absolute worst piece of armor I have)...these are perfect for me.

First time i came here i was about to cry at the increadble luck i was having... I don't think the zone needs to be nerfed...just make it realistic...most of these drops should become rare/very rare so that it doesn't seem like Verent is spiting in the face of everyone that had to work hard and earn everything they have, but at least now i can get some of the items that you'd normally need 100 lv 60's for ... i don't know know if thats good or bad, but i think in the end it will only come out bad...for the players that have worked hard and for verent when everyone gets bored and goes to play Daoc (or whatever the new game thats out now is)

/disagree My experience is that ME drops dont happen as often as reported. This zone does NOT need to be nerfed. It doesnt "spit in the face of people who worked hard" to make these drop at a reasonable rate.
This game totally cheats. Mobs hit through walls, they cast spells while running, you get zoned into the a safe spot even when you have full health, and so on and so on. A lot of people consider moving to another game NOT because the drops get easier..but bec it takes too much effort to get the existing ones.

I'd just kinda like to point out to RuninFeare that SWGalaxies is being put out by SOE/VI as well. So if Verant doesn't learn from their mistakes then SWG will likely suck for the same reasons.
On the other hand, SOE/VI does seem to be learning. In fairness though, what they seem to be learning is how to steal the good ideas from other games. (Not that they never have their own good ideas mind you but...)
The next generation of MMORPG's should (fingers crossed) be SO much better because they have so much material to draw from. EQ was the 2nd successfull MMORPG (UO being the first). EQ's been great but, well, part of leading the way is being the one to make the mistakes. The expansions of EQ, EQ2, SWG, and ShadowBane (to name a few) won't have to do the same old "stupid" thing.

He pop right infront akheva ruins , outside the building u will see a stone with 2 goranaga scout the right one is the place holder,good luck we killed 3 today, we got 2 mace 9/20 no drop and 1 shoulders

Angell's info is good, killed near the Akheva ent for about 2 hours and our puller would get the 2 scouts when all else was cleared, we got the battlmaster one time and he dropped some of these shoulders. Heh, in 2 1/2 hour camp we got 2 of the 20ac 15str/wis belts, these shoulders and some centi weapons...and some spells to boot. Also I was not tanking...but our tank said this guy was hitting for like 200...heh, also you cant miss him, he is like 2 feet taller then the scouts.

You can do this area at 50+. In a group consisting of Me (47 SK), a 51 Pally, a 52 Druid, a 52 Wiz, a 52 mage and a 53 Cleric. We were able to hunt just outside of AK ruins... It was tough though and adds could make it harry... Lots of down time too, so not very effective for xp hunting. A chanter would have helped immeasurably I am sure... Gonna go level a few tho, as I was having difficulty maintaining aggro.. (not all the time mind you)...
