As with all the vah shir, you start with one cloak, do this quest to get the recruit cloak, the it continues to the apprentice cloak, and then the journeymans cloak, but there is no information on this quest beyond the recruits cloak???
Forgive my ingnorance, I've been an EQ addict for some time but this is my first go at trade skills. What skill level is needed to make the clay and the jar?
Jar is trivial at 41. I was really pissed off about this part when I got hit with it (I assumed it was a no fail combine)... given that I had already gotten my Shaman's brewing up to 140 for this quest.
I ended up succeeding on my fourth attempt. These Vah Shir quests are pretty insane, for the level you're supposed to do them at.
Maybe not the best item in the world, but an awesome reward in proportion to the difficulty of the quest, as it seems all the class specific quests in Shar Vahl are. Also got a nice shield and a free 4-slot bag out of this quest.
In fact I think the good thing with this quest is definitely not in this cloak, but on the quests this cloak unlocks... After the recruit cloak, quest continues to apprentice, then journeyman. After that, there are three other cloaks for which few informations is available: garrison, officer and hero cloak. From what I have read, the hero cloak is just amazing. The beast lord hero cloak (stats available on EQBeastlord) seems to be better for a bst than the 8th coldain shawl. I say "seems to be" because I still have to see one ingame...
Just a short update: looks like SoE removed the Hero cloak and made the Garrison cloak the same for all class... Still a nice item but it's too bad they changed the quests that way... Would have been nice to keep class-specific cloaks...
Oh, well, I suppose we can't oppose SoE desires...
