For everyone claiming this item would never be sold, I'm looking at one in the Bazaar window right now for 345k on Firiona Vie. That's what prompted me here...

I'm looking to replace my Ragebringer (and hence my 40% haste). This item is beautiful in all AC, stats, haste, and slot. Its only downfall that I can think of would be the inability to equip both the Trinket, and use throwing weapons.

Now, I'm a level 60 rogue, and ever since about level 30, I have only used throwing weapons once every VERY blue moon. I'm curious, however, if anything unusual happens between 60 and 65 that would prompt me to use throwing weapons enough to cease considering this item. I am aware of the new "Sneak Attack" line of disciplines, but I've found the backstabbing version to be more rewarding than throwing. Any input?
RE: Range & throwing weapons
# May 02 2004 at 9:27 PM Rating: Default
Well it depends what you want to do in the future.

In PoP there are many, many ranged fights due to mobs with insane AoEs and mobs with AoE rampage. A lot of them. Now, while rogue ranged damage is not going to make the difference in any of these fights AT ALL, it is still nice to be able to plink away at the target instead of sitting like a lump on a log, though compared to the rangers and basically all casters, you will be a lump on a log anyway. Thats the only thing i can think off that would make a ranged slot haste item undesirable for a rogue.

EDIT: After looking at your magelo, i would suggest that if you can get your hands on 345k, keep ragebringer offhand and start getting hp and resist upgrades in the gear department. Just my opinion.

What Needs to Happen...
# May 19 2003 at 6:33 AM Rating: Decent
First off i wanna say NO I'm not in any form of uber guild not hardly. That said I'd like to call a stop to all the BS PLEASE.

When i was a weee lvl newbie checking out EQ i knew absolutely nothing at all. I saw a lot of /ooc someone help or /shout why does everyone hate me (usually came after that ooc got no response). HERE is how it's done.

(1) Like they say in the lil book that we all toss aside when getting a new game, Take a low lvl character and run around a bit, Maybe a Shaman or Druid lvl'd up to SoW lvl so you can be quik... If you die SO WHAT you have nothing at that level. Run around DL and get squashed by Gorenaire and BAM you just saw your first dragon AND you know how hard it'd be to kill. Maybe run to Velious and attack the first thing you see (might bind first if you're in a rush) Just cause you wanted to smack it a bit. How many people (non-alt)in a Newbie zone will tell you WITH PROOF (screen shot the text window) that they even attempted to smack a Dragon, Giant, Wurm, etc. ???

(2) PLEASE OH PLEASE stop spamming ooc and shout... as a newb i turned that crap off just to keep from Lagging. You need a rez ?? /who cleric If someone is Anon either send a tell or consider them busy. If you need help, ask once if noone answers you either wait a bit or send a tell; most people don't see chat stuff due to battle spam. If you sit there and say "help this, help that ,etc. then people mainly just see you as someone unwilling to help themselves.

(3) OBVIOUSLY you people know where this site is , I seem to find a button here marked "links" wich will show me a few other usefull sites, 90% i get what i need here but if not, use those and then not only will you be prepared but you might give a hand to some other newbie some day.

NOW I wish to address this "Uber Guilds Suck" thing and the "No-Drop" thing...

Any of you play Diablo2 or a game very similar ?? The only reason they are not out of businuess is due to the realms simply because the peopl that have everything (B.Net) are Hackers of some form and really in it to show off there Knowledge of Dowloding a Program and following a few instructions. If this game is too challenging you might check into that. But i for one wouldn't even pay to be a newb in a game like as that.

No-Drop gear prevents us level 60+ people from going in and raiding, then twinking an alt massively and clearing all the newb zones in one pull wich honestly is what would happen and you'd still be mad. I saw one post saying "or sell it" .. WHY? so some newbie can go buy 200K on ebay and never have to put in the year or so (YES YEAR) that the other person put in to get of the level to even think of getting that ?? Not to mention the countless raids and all the help that person supplied to get it also ?? No thank you.. You know what A someone that COULDN"T wear this would do ?? They'd offer 100K for it then sell it for 150K or something of the nature. NO THANKYOU I prefer to hunt my gear, it may take longer but noone can say i didn't deserve it 100%; I wont even MQ 90% of the time unless it has to do with tradeskills or maybe I messed up the quest by being an idiot. Ask yourself, would I rather go have tons of fun meeting people, grouping, raiding and then MAYBE get my phat loot, or would I rather buy it or trade it or have it handed to me and have almost 0 skill??? ( not bashing all traders just ones that go farm RM or something and never leave the Nexus). AND not to mention that "uber" guilds don't just accept you cause of your gear and no matter how sweet of gear you have (even that BS suposedly made-up fake thing from PoM I saw ealier)you can't solo none of this 60+ stuff, your stats cap people and max all stats doesn't count for much trying to solo Cazic-Thule or something.

Now that I'm on the topic tho, Uber Guilds only suck when they're butt-heads, And i don't mean by bragging or being non-responsive. I meen if you see one that runs in and KS's your mobs (personally only seen one guild do this and thank the great god of fear that they disbanded or left the server) or ruin your raid; then yeah they suck. Just cause a guild doesn't hand you stuff or tell you everything, that doesn't make them suck; It simply means they either don't have time , aren't really sure, or just don't want to spoil it for you. Next time you bump into your local "Uber Guild" ask them how long the guild has been open, or better yet try to discuss a mob with them (try HoT or ToV since that's rather commen), BUT don't sit there and act like they're BS'ing you ... show um a little respect if they take time to respond. Remember they may have better gear but that doesn't meen they're sitting around chatting, They are most likely helping the guild with something or planning some sort of excersion. ANYHOW once you hear a bit about what they do and how long they've been astablished then you'd probably change your mind about them unless you're simply a Loot Whoreing newb that wants only for himself without doing anything to get it ... and if that's the case then you might consider quiteing the game until you get a concept of what it's about. All it takes is one person knowing where your interests lie and it can make or break your EQ life. AND FINALLY before you comment I'd like to inform you that this is infact how i learned a lot about this game, sent a tell or 2 until i got a response, maybe ASK someone if i might inspect them and then looked here and worked my butt off to get the levels i needed. Currently my Main is still wearing Plane Of Hate class specific crap at level 60, it sucks in comparison to some other things but it's mine and i worked for it (actually went and organized a few of the raids myself), and when i feel a need to change then I'll take my butt out gather all the FRIENDS i met raiding rather then complaining and we'll go get better stuff.... just my 2cp thanks

Put a level limit on all the uber stuff, and make it all tradeable! That way, if someone quits, or upgrades you dont have uber gear rotting in your bank. You can give it to other guild members, or sell it!

# Apr 06 2002 at 1:25 PM Rating: Default
Ok to start off with i am NOT in an uber guild.
But i would like to say that there are 2 reasons ppl whine about them.
a) Because they are damn jealous that someone w/ a powerful high lvl guild can get good crapp and they can't.
b) There are SOME uber guilds that are jerks. Guilds that go in and clear a zone while someone else in raiding it, guilds that KNOWINGLY go in and disrupt raids for epic items blah blah blah etc.
Not all uber guilds are bad, and not all non-uber guilds are good. But like it or not there will be people who want to be on top w/ all of the best stuff, and there will always be uber guilds. Good or bad is totally up to opinon
This post will probably bring more whiners and i've probably offended everyone but there is my 2cp worth.

I find that the problem with most people is the fact that they're afraid to experience anything new, which makes mid-levels so boring.
For example, do you remember when you first got the game and saw a new zone or a scary looking mob...
Most people become comfortable with where they begin or where they level easiest... for example, I see Iksar twinks being brought to EC to level... why not let them level in their homeland of Kunark? Because most characters never started on Kunark so it's not comfortable to them.

Ever hear this in /ooc: "Where's the best place for a <insert lvl/class> to fight in?" Instead of exploring and trying new places, most characters simply find the places labeled the "best," which is either the safest, easiest, or most exp efficient.

You want to experience uber raiding? Work for it, level up, and stop whining on the Message Boards... You want to experience raids in general but you're not high enough for Sleepers? Try those EMPTY zones I wander into all the time... Dalnirs, Crystal Caverns, Echo Caverns great for mid level groups/raids.

The squire idea I feel is horrible... who's going to stop uber guilds from leveling their mid-level twinks even easier cause they're called an Un-harmable squire, that can't do anything? Great way to learn your class isn't to watch others and NOT try it out yourself... and how about instead of finding a high-level character to be "linked" too... why don't you just make some thing called "friends"... it doesn't cost any Platinum, and you can be ANY level! And some day, when you and your friends are a high enough level to experience these raids, one of them might be in a guild that will invite you along!

/sarcasm on
Or let's try another idea... let's make all the uber raidable places only accessable to characters below lvl 10 and let them drop uber loot for everyone, and all the mobs have 1 hp and no resistances!!!
/sarcasm off

Hard work in the game yeilds good items, great experience, and incredible friends... Don't have the time to do this "in-game" then your priority lies OUT of the game. Not everyone can experience the INCREDIBLE high level game, but Verant didn't forget about mid-level characters and places... people are just too afraid to find them...

Good luck on your journeys, and when you are invited to your first raid, I'm sure you'll feel a lot better =)

It's amazing how many "hardcore individualists" use this quote. How are you different than the thousands of other people who parrot that phrase?

I'm not laughing at you because you're different, im laughing at you because you're the same as everyone else who calls themselves different. You're just too wrapped up in your own uniqueness to realise it.

Uber guilds are the only ones who can kill uber mobs to get uber drops. Drops are distributed as the raid leader sees fit. If for some reason the person no longer wants that item, and the item is tradebable, it doesn't just go up for auction in gbay. It is returned back to the guild. If the guild ever found out that a person was trying to sell such a drop without permission, the person would probably be deguilded and would likely never be allowed in any of the other uber guilds on the server.

You will never see this for sale.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 28 2002 at 4:08 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ok, I'm going to go way off-topic here, and respond to this.
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 28 2002 at 5:20 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) And, as for your squire idea, if you can think of a better way to power level a character, than to just have a char on your second account tag along while you go into sebilis or velks or just tag along with a guild mate, (as you said they would be unharmable) then just go out to eat, go to school, go to work etc. etc. etc. Thats all an idea like that would lead to, plus, a low-mid level character is going to learn a lot more in a group then by sitting around praying or tending armor.
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 27 2002 at 5:10 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ok, I'll respond to your way off topic idea, specifically that uber guilds suck. I understand you like the economical aspect of the game, but many people(the people in uber guilds for example) and myself find it quite boring. The idea of giving a dropable item back to a guild is completely just, because the entire guild worked to get it, not the single character. You speak as if just going and killing an "uber mob" is some easy thing, putting together an uber raid(I can imagine, not claiming to be uber or anything) is most likely pretty difficult, much harder than massacering Hill Giants in Rathe Mountains for a week or two to be able to buy an item. Anyway, point is, there are many aspects to everquest, and the high level raid aspect also can be done in mid levels-as some other people have already posted, enjoy the part of the game you like best, and let others do what they want.
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 06 2002 at 5:57 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) great squire idea :) it would make my life a lot easier if that were the option, i'm always doing some tracking for my higher levels buddies if they need it and i get beat up by adds.....good idea many grats on it lol

I've always thought Paladin Knights should get Page, then squire's as pets kinda of even to just hold heavy weapons and loot kinda like a bank, even a really low lvl squire would be cool similar to SK's pet. I also like the idea of warriors getting squires for ac boost from the tending armor. of course they don't need one that can tank but to carry loot and such would be cool.I don't think people would want to do this becuase of the ego or whatever I think maybe pets would be cool though, unless it could be done similar to a group thing on a temporary basis. /invitesquire or something

I didn't mean to imply that uber guilds are either good or bad. I'm just saying that that's the way things work.

Incidentally, I don't think that the guilds see a "danger" in allowing non-guildmates to have such items. Instead, they believe that a mob was killed by a large team of people. As a result of their work, the item was acquired. Therefore, items which are TRADEABLE don't belong to a single person, but belong to the entire guild. That individual is just "renting" the item until he gets something better. (Even if there are no better items.) For a person to sell an item that was bestowed upon him by the guild to someone outside the guild would be considered an insult to the other members of the raid who would have actually kept and used the item.

Again, I'm not saying it's right or wrong. I'm just saying that this is how it's done, in general.

Good journey to all of you.

I quit, and recently came back. I had gotten rid of all my equipment. I had few no drop stuff I actually would use (55 paladin, valorium and planar weapons suck). Soloing, in a month I have about 80k worth of equipment on me now. No raids. No gifts. Just farmed for a month. Started off a few hundred pp a day, now if I want to farm, I get at least 1k a day, if not up to 6k or more. If I played the market it would be even easier.

This item won't be sold. If it did, I doubt 200k would buy it, since I've seen white dragon helms go for 180k, and boots of the storm for 190k.

Xerkizh is a once a week spawn. He has a couple hundred thousand hit points (but seems like more, because he has super high AC), and some interesting special abilities. 30 very well equipped level 60s should be able to do him, but most will probably do him with 45-60 or so people. Drops 3 items when killed, from a loot pool of I'm guess around 6 or so items (from number of duplicates already gotten). I'd say he is not quite as hard as Tormax or Yelinak, but then again maybe he is a little harder due to his room and the spawns in it. He is rooted and cannot be pulled.

The key to the area can be kind of a pain, he's probably not dying on many servers yet. When he is, I don't expect more than 3 or so trinkets to drop per month (due to his spawn time, loot table, etc), and probably unlikely one will be sold for months to come. When it is, expect it to be a little more expensive than say, Zlandicar items like Cowl of Mortality or Zlandicar's Heart.

Hmmm 80K?! Doubt it, CoF goes for bout 100-120k on Emarr, this is a range item with haste, this things is by far worth more than the time it would take to accumulate the plat to buy it, I am thinking 200k or more, no one in there right mind would sell it imo, as long as the haste is 25% or more that is, guess we'll see...

I always just accepted the 100k price on Emarr for a CoF, but i saw a post that these sell for 20-30k on a few servers! Thinking about it 100k is rediculous as naggy goes down every week the day he spawns (this may change now that RF doesn't require killing him). So in a month 2-5 of these drop. I have seen 3 raids in the last 2 months that dropped 2 CoF and with all the Luclin patches the red guy is up more than once a week. Plus they drop off other fire dragons of higher levels. I have no clue why they go for so much Emarr being an older sever you would think there would just be so many of these that they wouldn't. Oh well! hehe

But as for this item... If it is even 25 percent haste it will sell for well over 100k. Just for the fact that you don't have to give up an item slot to have the haste. Add the fact that is has awsome AC and stats... I cannot believe this exists, even off a tough 60 mob.

My pessimistic side says VI might realize they made a mistake and change it to a neck item or something. (Even then it is awsome.) Or worse.. make it part of a key quest like the item off Yel. *sigh* Or BL epic or something. We'll see. : )

I might as well try to bribe verant into giving me an account of level 60's maxed out than save up for this. Damn!!! /sob

I have a monk friend on Rodcet who seems to make 2kpp a weekend by soloing geos and he was only level 42 when he started it... now he is level 50 and is still hanging out for the money

That's mainly because you can invade the higher level areas and have a chance at rolling on the big-time droppable loot.

200k Plat is an OBSCENE amount...whether you are level 60 or level 1. While money does come easier as you level up, it doesn't come 200k Plat easy. Maybe 10k plat...maybe 25k plat...but not 200k plat, regardless of your level.

Not saying this item isn't worth it...but to think you are ever going to EARN 200k plat is little more than a wish and a prayer. Some rare, very rare few, may do it...99+ % will not. EVER!

200k is not much to e-bayers, farmers, commons merchants, dupers, patch exploiters... It takes time, money and/or correct action to make money; not as much of these as most would suspect.

#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 25 2002 at 10:52 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) 100-120k for CoF? thats outragous. drinal has much lower prices on it. not sure about other servers but we have what we call "the United Guilds of Drinal" or UGoD in which naggy goes down very shortly after he spawns. CoF drops are all over the place.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 27 2002 at 8:21 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) yep... 100k - 120k for a CoF is ridiculous!!!
Haste

Just for clarification, the pic currently posted is old. In one of the recent patches it was stated that this item got appropriate haste added to it. The question is, what is appropriate for a ranged haste item with nice stats? Im sure haste on this is at least that of an RBG if not more...Judging from the stats, zone, and rarity. Once the haste is actually found out, well get a better PC on it but if we pretend the haste is 28% (RBG) I would say this will go for ~80k+ for the sheer fact that it would be the BEST range item in the game and you can get a nice cloak/belt to replace your old haste item.
haste?

SO would anyone have any idea what the haste of this item would be, its says it has the effect just curious the amount. The haste effect in the range slot would be HUGE. along with those stats, i would have to agree with dzinj. you won't be seeing these in EC anytime soon, but i am sure they will be there some time, but no where near the price of 15k

#kthomas, Posted: Jan 03 2003 at 10:19 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is a drop from Ssra temple, nothing in this zone is subpar, all the haste items are 41 percent. As far as price, this will put a CoF to shame, CoF on lanys, around 60k. Put this on the market, at LEAST 100k. Its an awesome item, and when sold it wont be given away for less then 100k, of this I am certain.
