Fire elementals and issues
# May 19 2003 at 9:55 AM Rating: Decent
HI All,
Hopefully someone has some good advice. I can't get aero to spawn and for some reason the fire elementals zoom right for me. I was hunting with a fellow pally same level as me who cons the same to them (indifferent) and they leave him alone. I'm human and he is a high elf but should that make a difference if we con the same??

We wiped out I think all the air elementals we could find and nothing. No lesser or other air elementals could be found and we had someone try to track for us with nothing on the screen. To be sure we were on the right island with the tower attached......where u can zone into fungus grove? yes?

IF anyone can help. Please. Really could use it =)

Your faction will drop as you hunt and kill more of the mobs, if you kill the named in particular the others of its type will kos you afterwords. To get him to spawn have see invis as the air elementals go invis, and kill ALL the elementals. I have not been able to confirm a relationship to kills/spawns and I hunted here for about 5 levels. I am KOS to all elementals there now. Mostly its luck, just keep killing, if you have a tracker it helps to get to them first.

#Tassoth, Posted: Mar 05 2003 at 11:57 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) yes this is right but you have left out a major part that an item still has a haste cap, so this item wont give you up to 50% haste but more than likely only up to about 18 or so.

What you were trying to describe was Spell Haste, not Item Haste. Permanent item hastes have fixed values and it does not depend on level (although it can have a recommended or required level to wear). That said, these boots have 6% Haste. It's going to be 6% at level 1. It's going to be 6% at level 50.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 19 2003 at 7:56 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) for one these DOO suck att eh lvl u get them, i mean ya a group of low 30's could sit here for um lets see hmmmm 10 days an finnaly after wiping the island oh say a couple 100 times they get these, now it sucks sincethese are so rare because here it says they are 300pp now on the 7th the ast time i seen these selling, ya u gessed it more then a FBSS ya thats right right up near 6k, i was like wtf, ya there good maybe worth 1k but kiss my sack i rather pay 3.5k for some schw's on the 7th, the dude below, ya great u have 3 pairs, but they still suck, **** own 100 i don't care they still suck. my reason for them sucking? there foot slot, i would much rather have higher ac and stats then some puny 6-11% haste or whatever they are, it means nothing to hit 6% more, wow a whole what 100 more dmg? bah to hell with it, its garbage haste. so on to the next item =(

I just got these yesterday while farming elementals for smithing. I know you think they suck, but a lot of people I know don't have 3-4k for SCHW or 1.5-2k for a FBSS. I'll be giving these to a lvl 30 or so guildie and I'm sure that it will make his/her day. Plus the stats aren't all that bad for mid lvl boots. Why does everyone in all of these freaking posts say something sucks when they have something better. You never know.. this "sucky" item could be the best thing someone else has, and by you giving it to them, you make a friend for life.

#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 12 2002 at 5:33 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It's amazing at the misinformation floating around. People who have no idea about the haste on the boots post 6%. Of course they've never owned the boots. They base their information on other people's posts and take them for fact. The boots are great. You get haste and wisdom, what more could you ask for either to twink a low level Pally or Ranger or play a high level Shammy or Cleric? I own 3 pair of these and wouldn't trade them.

I finaly got a set of these boots, after 3 weeks, 10,000 elemental kills chain wipeing the entire island for complete respawn every 15 mins. Level 58 Necros can do that sort of thing you know. Also, it took me 6 Aero kills to get the boots. I was actualy intent on getting the greater guard of haste off him, his other rare drop, but got 5 lesser guards instead. Thats alright. I like the boots better anyhow. Better stats for a cleric. Also picked up 2 other pieces of Chromatic armor in all this slaughter of elementals. It seems there is a whole set of this stuff, but all very rare drops. I have a collar that isn't even listed on Alakazam yet. Got get a screen shot and get it listed. Also have a cloak. This chromatic armor is funny stuff. Not very useful AC for anythig past about level 30, but all pieces have some okay stats otherwise, plus all saves. Weird. Wonder where they came up with this idea. Saving it, as I might get a whole set someday and can submit a fashion shot to Alak. For Saint peters sake though. If you aren't really sure about the haste on these boots, why are you all, almost all cat and dog fighting or something you really don't know much about. Like the guy below me said. I will wear these boots on my Cleric until they cut them off my feet or I get something like a ToF to replace them. Good luck too all.

I just got one of these too this morning. 55 Necro here. Still easy to clear the island but my pet can get hurt bad by the fire elemental damage shields if he has to fight a few in a row. I've killed all the elemental gods before and this is the first time I've gotten one of their rare drops. I just wish the haste issue would get resolved. 6% seems kind of low for an item this rare and hard to get, but that's what Magelo says.

RE: What bugs me

It's simple druids cant use these because they cant use chain, note the graffic if you see someone with these on (chain) would mean that druids would have to give up their porting ways and start using a bow and arrow)

Okay, Let's put this issue to rest. Everyone look up "Imbued Elven Chainmail" on this site. This is chainmail and it is druid usable. However chitin such as the BCP, Crystal Chitin, Black Chitin, etc. Is not metal, but does have a plate graphic. In addition the best chest peice, IMHO, that a druid can get is chain. Mail of Judgement. So to say that druids can't touch metal armor is a false statement, at least as far as Everquest goes. We can touch it, just not all of it. Hmmm.. Makes me wonder if this Elysian armor I wear is chain, or did SOE just decide to give it that graphic.

Druids can wear chain, heck even plate, just depends on the piece of armor... Vermiculated is chain, the Brown Chitan Protector is plate, heck my Mage can wear plate, Black Chitin Legplates, if Druids could wear everything that is cool in the world, then they'd be too uber =)
RE: What bugs me
# May 31 2002 at 11:56 PM Rating: Decent
Your wrong and your right =) =P

Druids Can not touch metal, and this somehow excludes some of their simple stuff like their weapons or jewelery... but simply they can NOT touch any metal. They can't touch chain, they cant touch plate, they cant touch much of anything... The Plate and Chain Graphic, however is not out of reach. There are many Items that look chain such as... well lets just say Fungi Tunic lol... that A druid could wear... if they wanted to... lol... Druids can also wear Crystal Chitin, and BCP, and a bunch of stuff that looks like plate. This does not mean they can use Plate. Chitin is stuff that alot of animals have as an exoskeleton that makes it hard, does this sound like metal to you? If anyone finds a loophole in this, which I'm sure you can, it is Verant's fault hehe =P

Anyways if you really like this cuz of the Wisdom, I'm sure you can find wisdom on another boot that is much more friendly to your pocketbook.

Strange, I have chain legs both from Kroniff legs and Gladiator legs. I have chain gloves, plate vanbracers and bracers. I have chain Coif and plate helm. I can make and wear Elven cultural chain. Druids have lots of chain and plate armor. Verm is Chain. To say Druids cannot touch metal is using D&D standard in EQ which is not valid since lots of our armor is metal. Druids are a Priest Class but of the other two priests classes one is plate and the other chain.

#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 22 2002 at 8:27 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i dunno why people say the haste doesnt change according to level, i did an experiment with my friend, a level 15 ranger, and me a 49 rogue, i timed the space in between the attacks for both of us with the boots on, and there was definetly a difference, he had like 2.2 seconds (CSS 12dmg 24 delay) and i had 1.8, so there is definetly a haste per level, or i hit faster because of my level, i dunno, but im pretty damn sure theres a couple haste per certain amount of levels or something, so there, ive shown my theory and hope you peeps like it

Mostly the stats, but if you look up the spell effect link you will see that haste is supposedly dished out according to level. Even more unfortunately, you are incorrect. Haste on items does increase by lvl. Up to the maximum amount. SCHWs on a lvl 1 is not 22 percent haste.

If I am wrong about that I am still right anyways. Haste on items does increase by lvl because of a little something called haste cap.

Ok, by judging from looking at description, it says triggered, trig = right click on it. the description of the spell if you click on link shows a BARD song haste. also that this is 1% at level 1 and 50% at like level 46 or something. so theoretically this is a clickable STACKABLE haste item with great stats and medeocre AC. even if you just slap em on to click haste, pffft waaaaay worth 10k in my book especially since the resists that are on them. /shrug if i had them you wouldnt even be able to pry them from my dead cold feet without chopping them off.

Magelo shows this as 6% haste. Which is a little dissapointing, but at least this has great stats to go with it. :)

http://www.magelo.com/eq_item_info.html?num=2961

They are usually perfectly accurate as they are pulling the data right out of the game using a 3rd party program.

Edit: Hmm, I just looked and they also list it as "Effect Class: Proc", whereas the other existing haste items have "Effect Class: Permanent". So maybe it adds a proc chance while fighting? Journeyman's boots say "Effect Class: Triggered", so it doesn't sound like it's a right click.

Guess we won't know until someone who has them posts for us. hehe

RE: Haste percent ..
# Jan 20 2002 at 2:10 AM Rating: Decent
well using Fapugen formula I tested it twice..on rockhoppers in Dawnshroud

in one min with boots I did 68 attacks and with out I did 60. I took the number from about the middle of both sets fights. 68 / 60 = 1.13 or 13% haste.

I know you said Magelo is saying 6% and they are using 3rd party software to pull stats from the game BUT ..maybe they are not anylonger with the crack down that there has been from sony about the use of any 3rd party software.

What I would like to see and I am asking here is that if any of you out there have a pair of these wonderful boots...please take a moment to turn your /log on and record a fight with them on..then remove them for the next...do this at least two times for each..and try and do this on the same mob. After that take a min from the mid part of each fight and start counting all your attacks...and post what you come up with here..

it will be the only way we can be sure if we can get more information from others who have these boots.

Please no offence but this method of calculating haste is very inaccurate.

Reason: 1.Nobody is going to double attack and dual wield on every round. If you do, then fine, ignore this post. 2. Certain classes (rogues for example) have a higher dual wield skill than others at their level. (at 36 I think mine was like 190 or something), this difference would mean that for the rogue, they get a better result than the same weapon same haste on a different class.

A more accurate method of calculating haste doesnt even require having something to hit.

Click on the combat button.

A when you have a weapon in your main hand with a delay of 20, you will have 1 round every 2.0 seconds, that is 30 rounds in a minute, or 60 rounds in 2 minutes.

A "round" is each time the combat buttons blink (Melee attack, and Range attack, the top two). So If you want you can calculate how many rounds you have over a certain amount of time, or you can do a bit of math and easily figure it out.

20 delay weapon = 2 seconds between rounds
37 delay weapon = 3.7 seconds.
40 delay weapon = you guessed it, 4 seconds

Just move the decimal place in the delay or your main hand weapon to the left one, then take the amount of minutes you are calculating haste over(lets say 3 minutes for example) Multiply that by 60 to get the seconds, then divide by your weapon delay(after you moved the decimal point)

Example:
Note: All weapon delays here do not specificly represent any one item, nor does the haste I calculated here represent any specific item.

Calculate rounds for a 36 delay weapon over three minutes without haste.

Formula: (3x60)/3.6
3x60=180 180/3.6 = 50 rounds in three minutes.

Now.. find the haste on your item.
Equip your item(or if you want to calculate a haste spell, have it cast on you)

Count how many rounds you have over 3 minutes.
subtract 50(the amount without haste) from your new number and then divide 50 into THAT number.

Lets say I had 66 rounds in 3 minutes.
66-50=16 50/16=3.125
3.125 = 31.25% more rounds in the same time period, that means it is 31.25% percent haste(rounds down to 31%).

well, back to work, hope this helps anyone who wants to find out haste on their own,

Oh Also, the only time it would not work is if the item has a higher haste than your cap, then you will only get results as good as your haste cap lets you have.
RE: Haste percent ..
# Feb 20 2002 at 5:52 AM Rating: Excellent
OK counting the blinks is a bit difficult if ya have a dodgy graphics card but if ya taget your self first ya can just count the "Try attacking someone other than yourself, its more productive" messages in ya log.

;-) I have used this method to confirm the haste on swiftclaw sash using my wurmy and by Arbitors Combine Greatsword.
RE: Haste percent ..
# Feb 06 2002 at 5:19 AM Rating: Default
Holly crap that's possibly even worse than the first way, atleast with my computer. I don't even get the blinks half the time. Would be considerably easier to start a log and use a level one char to test. No chance of dual wield or double attack unless you use a monk for test.

Ok I have these and very nice they are too BUT the camp was a awful long time, I spent over 50 hours to get these in 6 sessions of camping with my 51 Enchanter, I had to use my pet as they spawn quicker than i can Nuke/Dot/Med. They become aggro pretty quick when you kill the Boss Mob Aero= Air Ele Aggro Tera= Earth and so on, although pretty soon after one type aggro they all will. One thing I believe to be true is this, any Elemental can spawn if you kill an Air you could get ANY, at one point i had a Island full of Fire Elementals which is a REAL pain as the DS takes my pet down pretty quick even buffed, if you have a pet with MR and FR and a few buffs you should rock here otherwise the going is slow taking on Fire ones, wait for a Air / Earth / Water to pop and kill it, then take it nice and slow killing the fire until another Air/ Earth / Water pops, eventualy you will get a named. If anyone can post where i get one of those super fandago programs which calculate haste PLEASE post it here as i can then post the % haste on this and if it is around FBSS then this item is Astounding for the level required to get it.

Aero seems to be one of those ultra rare spawns. So far over 2 weeks and about 80 hours of camping, (maxed out all faction hits after about 15 hours). A Shamen, druid, necro and warrior keeping the island down to 10 eles or less often completely cleared. The score so far is 2 terra, 1 hydro, 1 inferno and no Areo. Only here for a here for a haste item so I guess its only to be expected.

I wouldnt even waste the mana that Annul takes. I used my first spell of this line I was given, i.e. cancel magic and it has worked fine for me.

The greatest problem is when more than one aggros me and my doggie is busily hoping from one to other as they pull taunt on him. Have to be careful using cancel magic or will dispel my pet if I dispel the same one he is attacking. Also as the guy above stated after you kill the named it is best to pick an edge of the island and work your way in as they will aggro more aggressively then.

I was very very lucky the other morning. I had camped on the island of the elementals. I came in and did my prepping for battle and just as I finished..Aero walked right by me..
My heart Lept to my throat as I tried to get my fingers to respond fast enought. He went down with ease for me, but I am a level 51 ranger, and he is green to me, and before anyone flames me..just because your lvl 51 does not mean you are ubar..it just means that you can finally go out and get equipment for your self that you have needed for a long time.

The boots just say Effect:Haste
there is NOTHING that says triggered on it, unlike some of my other pieces I wear

Thing is I have NO idea how to find out what percentage of haste these boots give.

anyone have ANY idea how one finds this out?

Also..I was on the western side of the island about mid-way to the castle ..Aero was moving from the other side towards the castle when I took him down.

This is not my work but it is good and it is very true. Raidi Sovin'faile wrote this on the Celestial Fists page (monk epic). Here it is.

Okay, here we go...
There are only 3 kinds of haste that are stacked:
1) Item Haste: an item you are wearing that has haste as a permanent effect. You can wear multiple items that have Haste, but only the best haste is counted. This is so you can wear say the Golden Sash of Tranquility and a Cloak of Flames and get all the wonderful stats, but you only get the 40% haste from the belt.
2) Effect Haste: a spell effect or song effect, you know, the kind you see an icon representing the effect? Most haste spells cancel each other out as that is the way of spells (the stronger version overwrites), and the song effects overwrite each other as well (as far as I've seen, have yet to see some stack). There are some songs that allow you to have a song and a spell effect BOTH on you at the same time, but just like items, only the best haste is taken into account. This is so you can still have the bard songs neat little bonuses (like ac, str, atk, etc.)
3) Monk Discipline: the Monk receives a discipline that allows them to have a haste bonus that stacks with both other forms of haste. This is considered a 20% haste, though I do not know if it has been CONFIRMED, so don't quote me on that one. When they introduced disciplines they added a new system for melees, with its own counter and all that jazz.. which means it is outside the realms of stacking issues... This haste DOES stack with anything.

Now as for haste caps:
Pre 50: Your haste cap is around 80% (I am not completely positive on this one, so if someone knows for certain, please post the real cap).
Post 50: Your haste cap increases to 100%.

There are a lot of misconceptions about haste.
The way a person figures out how much haste an item or spell has, is by logging a series of attacks. They count the amount of attacks over a period of time without haste, and then with haste. Then they divide the amount with haste by the amount without. That gives a number like 1.?? where the ?? is the % haste of the item.
Example:
without - 20 attacks in 1 minute.
with - 24 attacks in 1 minute.
24 divided by 20 = 1.20 = 20% Hasted.

So.. what is the new delay on the weapon/s?
Well... to figure that out, take the Haste %, add 100, divide 100 by that new number, and multiply the delay of the weapon with that final number.
Confused? Don't worry, here it is in formula:
Lets use a weapon that is 10/20 (for simplicity) and 50% haste.
100 + 50 = 150
100/150 = 0.666~
20 * 0.666~ = 13.333~ so 13 delay.

A side note on delays, pre 50 the lowest a weapons delay can be is 10, no matter the haste. Post 50 it can go lower. This is something I'm not completely positive about, and if anyone can confirm please post. But I'm pretty sure monks can get their hands to 9/8 weapons at level 60 with full haste and CF.
Most of what is in this post has been proven over and over by testing. The only things I'm not POSITIVE about are the haste of the Monk Discipline and the lowest pre/post 50 haste/delay caps.
If a monk has a Golden Sash of Tranquility (~40%) and Celestial Fists (~40%), he has his pre 50 haste cap of 80%.
At level 57, with the discipline, he can have 100% haste for 15 seconds, that's without any outside help.
Oh, and the Celestial Fists right click EFFECT haste is a 9 second song effect. Due to a recent patch, the effect stacks with things properly now, (you still only get best effect haste), and the haste will only stack with the item and discipline haste.
Sorry for the long post, but it seemed a lot of people needed some clarification on this issue.
Please post if anything I said is wrong, and please explain the testing behind it.
Hope this clears things up a little :)

Actually, the new bard haste songs (battlesong/warsong of the vah shir) stack with everything, so you can have 3 hastes stacked (item, normal spell/song with icon, vah shir haste song).

Another thing, on these Luclin haste items the amount of haste seems to vary with your level.

just an info update for thiose who may be confused...

the above post is pretty much all correct as far as determining haste for an item, just wanted to clarify something for those who may not realize this inportant step....

If you are a Duel Wielding/Double attacking person you have two Choices on how to go about analyzing your data, A) use a 2 hander. B)spend long hours filtering your Log of all the etra hits that you do with Duel wield..as well as Double attack...

This is how you do it (if you have Duel Wield / Double attack)

(using a 2HB/Slash weapon) go through the Logs you saved and Delete all the Double attacks you have done in the parse (how you ask?). all you gotta do is look and if the log entry has the SAME EXACT time on it as the one Below/above it then it was a Double attack and you would delete it.

With Double atack AND duel Wield this process will be very boring and time consuming, Follow above steps to determine the double attacks and if there are More than one or 2 of the same time then it is most likley a Duel wield and possibly another double attack on that duel weild, so i would humbley suggest using a two hander for parsing haste(less time Consuming)

(please forgive the Spelling Errors)

Thank you Very much for posting this!!

I can't wait to go try this out and find out if the boots are indeed only 6% haste..

From what I could see it should not matter that I am a ranger and can duel weld...at least I hope not.. will post what I find out here soon.

I do hope those boots are not 6% haste..would be nice if they were a bit higher...based on how long of a camp and how rare they are to get.

thank again your the best!!

Well old Aero must be an ultra rare spawn. I have spend a ton of time in Twilight. my faction with Elementals could not get worse. and I have yet to see this Elemental (and i am using see invis with a Druid) Have killed Terra, Hydro and Inferno, but Aero has evaded me. So if you think you can go to Twilight and just kill this guy, Good luck, and make sure you got a tracker with see invis up.
What's the Haste %?
# Dec 29 2001 at 12:37 AM Rating: Decent
Could someone who has gotten this item please post whether or not this is a clickable effect or a permanent one?

The Haste % would also be helpful. If it's not a clickable effect, it would be interesting to know how this stacks up against the other Haste items available, as well as whether sacraficing foot ac is worth it for possibly gaining waist/back ac. Thanks for any USEFUL info in advance.
