current pc's on various servers
# Jan 02 2002 at 3:37 PM Rating: Default
Hiya all,

For all you enlightened peeps who try to correct what someone really sold this sword at vs what you wish or think it should be sold at...you are just laughable...lol Every server is different for it's economy. E.G., Xev places a pc on fbss@5kpp, ACGS@3kpp, idol of the thorned@10kpp, barbed ringmail@8kpp, and so forth. Your lack of insight and useless price posting only serves to show the players and subscribers on this site that you have no clue whatsoever in EQ...LOL
======
This forumn was a place of information and trivia, not your frigg'n wish list on a PC for an item.

/sighs heavily as he stares at the lack of ppl who live and breath outside the box, while those who live inside the box post insipid pc's and useless data.
======

Anyways...the LSoEE ranges in price due to need and the impending NERF to come...lol on Xev, I have sold it for 15kpp in trade items and as low as 6kpp to a good friend with a promise to give me a break on an item's cost in the future. =)
======
I use this weapon as a 51 pally and have an ac of 997 fully self buffed. Using Instrument of Nife and this sword in Lguk with it's svM+10 really helps kill mobs fast.
=====
just my 2cp's on the weirdo's posting bad pc's...lol

not really cheap for such an easy quest, I think this sword will lower all the sword prices.

Screwing with the Prices
# Jan 01 2002 at 4:19 PM Rating: Good
Ban each and every price-messer PLEASE. =) If people just left well enough alone and put in a normal price, be it 12000 or 1000, we'd eventually have a nice economic average. This one is going to be hard enough to track since it's so easy to get and as of this moment it's not lore or no drop. We sure as hell don't need children entering tiny or humongous numbers into a system that some of us are paying a fee to utilize.
RE: Screwing with the Prices
# Jan 02 2002 at 1:53 PM Rating: Decent
FYI this is a lore item sir :) and also...if you really wanna know the price that these go for....anywhere from 2k-11k....there is no average...you get lucky sellin high, you get tired of tryin to sell and sell low....that's just the bottom line!
RE: Screwing with the Prices
# Jan 03 2002 at 6:11 AM Rating: Good
Whoops yeah I knew it was lore /em puts down the crack pipe.

This is without question the easiest high-yield quest in the game, so people (like myself), are running the circuit for a few days and just acquiring, selling, acquiring, selling. Maybe Verant threw this in to help people buy horses. Or maybe, like with every expansion, the ante has been upped and the items you can find are just a shade better, and this is Luclin's "Wurmslayer". Whatever the case, none of that has been in question. What I was stating was that I thought people who mess with the prices should be banned, because especially in this case, we want to see daily running pricetags on an item whose economy is going to be weird at best. I like to check prices mainly because I don't want to ***** someone out of money. Having been taken for a ride a few times, I've come to appreciate the "average" price going around.

Cheerio.

get banned for reasoning/bargaining... that's the stupidest $h!t i've heard...

If that ever was the case, I would quit EQ, because trading can make you rich, and I love doing it.

I'm talking about the people who put in figures like 1,000,000pp seven times or 1pp twenty times just to ***** it all up. The only people I'm talking about being banned are the brainless dolts who don't add any information to anything anyway.

# Jan 01 2002 at 8:22 AM Rating: Excellent
You people messing with the price of this should be banned from this site IMO. Unlike you there are people who take this game very seriously and come here looking for information which you have screwed up for everyone. You get rid of opportunities for people to flame everyone and everything and they still find a way to act juvenile.

Now, does the -5's make much of a difference? I could always equip a cracked darkwood shield and get the 9 str on it to tip the scales back over to the green but the sta? I dunno, I suppose 5 sta isn't a too terrible amount of hp to lose for such a fine blade. Just wondering. Of course the Dex is awesome. =)
RE: Price averages, then item question.
# Jan 01 2002 at 4:09 PM Rating: Good
I couldn't agree with you more about the price thing. One person somewhere sells this sword for 6k, another person on another server sells it for 3k. Suddenly we know we have a nice average of 3k. It's the people who come along and say "HAHA I GOT IT FOR 100pp from my FRIEND!!" and put 100pp in the price slot, that ***** it up. And then the person who put in that outrageous figure should just absolutely be banned. There are actually people here who pay a monthly FEE to access this (usually quite accurate) information, including myself. When children ***** with the numbers it's costing me money. There's my rant but I'm glad I saw someone else comment on it.

As for the sword, it rocks. Dual weilding two of them is a little too costly on the STR and STA (yummy DEX tho!) - but one I've decided is well worth the damage it puts out. It's like a Wurmslayer on superspeed. When I dual weild Wurmslayer and this sword, I don't see a lower dmg number than 30 to 40, and it goes on up into the high hundreds, at a fairly substantial speed. It's wonderful. When I combine this sword with the Lamentation, it's a flurry of damage, tho the mob doesn't drop quite as fast as when using the two big boys. And when I couple it with a Fluxblade Axe (really basic dmg delay but an occasional 150pt dmg. proc.) - it's nice because that high DEX is now causing my offhander to proc like crazy, and seeing streams of 150! pts of damage is pretty nice.

All in all, this weapon is complimenting everything I use currently and it's just a matter of deciding on the best pairing in any given situation.

It's too bad these things will be so heavily farmed soon. It's the kind of quest a lot of people were looking for, though. Something easy, with no faction hits, that teaches you your way around a new world, and results in a very nice weapon (I wasn't as thrilled with the staff or warhammer, but those are still amazingly easy quests too.)

If it gets nerfed anytime soon, my guess is that it becomes a Lore/No Drop item. That seems to be the way of things. Eventually, when every level 6 warrior has one of these things, they'll probably nerf the stats too.

Oh well! Happy hunting.

Super easy quest. Low 50 can solo. Takes an hour if sequenced right. GREAT weapon, but due to it's ease of completion should only be about 1-2k IMHO. (Before it gets nerfed that is.)

Again, casters are screwed.

Compare the melee reward with that to the wis and int variation. This melee reward is the best and very best off hand a warrior, rogue, pallie, sk and ranger can get.

But for the casters. There are dozen of other items that are way better. Why made it 2hb for casters and not 1hb. I really dont understand it. Great quest for melee, bad quest for casters who will only do this quest for twinking or selling the weapon in EC.

This blade is probably the best quest item I've come across this game thus far. I soloed it with my lvl 48 Ranger and the only hard part of it all, aside from waiting for the spawns, was killing Ebben Quickblade. Now I have a problem now. Which weapon combo should I use?

I mean, with a Lammy as my primary and the Etherial LS as my secondary, I can get some decent hits pretty fast. But I do a LOT more damage if I used my Wurmy as my primary and the Etherial LS as my secondary, although I'll get few swings in. Someone want to tackle this problem for me in which is the best combo for this blade?
RE: Very Nice Blade, but...
# Dec 31 2001 at 3:54 AM Rating: Decent
In my opinion, str doesnt really matter much to me. it seems that about every 12 str ur damage increases by 1. the Lammy would cancel the negs of the sword and provide a very nice primary weapon, yet the wurmmy is very high damaging but is too slow for my taste and averages about 60dam.
i... on the other hand am a walking ******** i carry with me 2 lammies, longsword of ethereal energy, silver swiftblade, swarmcaller, dragon horn yak, lupine dagger, and a stormwood battle staff. each of these weapons serve a different purpose. the longsword being average dly, should always be on. u should normally use the Lammy unless u fight a monsterous MOB with a DS then u should switch to the wurmmy. so if u cant decide whether to use the lammy or wurmmy, why not just take both? :)
RE: Very Nice Blade, but...
# Jan 04 2002 at 2:13 PM Rating: Default
Ok, for a ranger, you first have to think about how much taunt you're getting with the lammy and how good your stamina is. I'm going to assume your stamina is over 100, at your level, but you should be sure when wielding both a -sta weapon and a massive wurmy. In most situations (I'm assuming you won't be tanking), with the LSoEE in your offhand, I would take the wurmy in your main hand. You'll do more damage and create less taunt, and that's what a ranger is all about, right? If you tank, or if you have to pull a mob off a caster, the lammy would be better...but you probably won't have time to switch in the middle of a fight. If you can afford to, keep the lammy around...but don't shed any tears if you have to sell it to keep your wurmy. When you don't need taunt, and there's no proc- ratio rules.

57 war oppinion on this sword
# Dec 27 2001 at 10:24 AM Rating: Decent
This thing is amazing, I replaced my Jagged blade of mourning (13/25) with this baby for offhand and I don't regret the move AT ALL. The ratio is nice (factoring in the Magic DMG: 5, the ratio is UBAH!) and the 15AC on this is hard to come by on a 1h weapon. The maluses on this weapon are a minor inconvinience imho.

This sword is definatly a candidate for nerf...I just hope they make the drop rates of the quest items very rare and don't change the weapon :))))))))))

My oppinion: If you can use it as offhander, you will have a hard/costly time to find a replacement for this very very sweet offhand weapon.

Personally imo this is the best offhand a rogue can get preprimal/priceless if using epic in main hand. yah the - 5 sta -5 str kind of sucks but i'm still pushing 215 str and 155 sta with it on (barbarians best rogues too imo ;D) but the 15ac and the chance for a 21 damage weapon is unbelievable for a rogue. with this i've been hitting up to 109 with it in my offhand. And this being only a quest that takes 3 hours to do is insane, and to top it off I solo'd it! thats right a rogue solo'd it, so if a rogue can solo something that means anyother class can solo, so enjoy this bad @ss weapon ;D
nice wep
# Dec 25 2001 at 2:32 PM Rating: Default
This is a sweet wepon, i am a 55 war and am curently using this in my offhand with a winters fury in my main 13/23 , this makes a great offhand wep, 10 sv magic and 15 ac on a wepon is great, and you do alot of dmg with this and crit at like 150+ and if you have a haste belt which most wars do,, it brings the dly down, and in 90% of groups you have a enchanter or bard too,, so you are doing amazing dmg per second with this wepon
But its not 21 damage like some people are saying right?

Its 29 speed 16 damage then
PLUS 5 damage added on after all other damage right?

Some people are saying the weapon is basically 29 spd 21 damage which I don't think is really true. Like at level 20 16 dam weapon might hit for say max of 32 fairly often. So you'd get max of 32 plus 5. Meanwhile max of 21 damage would be 42 or so. 32 plus 5 is 37, not 42. So is it me or would it be incorrect to say, "this weapon is basically 21 damage"(which would make it rather fantastic.)
RE: But its not 21 damage like some people are saying right?
# Dec 24 2001 at 1:37 PM Rating: Excellent
Actually, yes, as long as it is not resisted, it is a 21/29 weapon. If it is resisted a bit it goes down a bit til if it is resisted totally its just 16/29. So, yes depending on resists, it will hit as hard as a 21 damage weapon. The extra 5 magic damage is not added on to your hits, its actually counted as being extra damage on the weapon.
It really is a 21 dmg weapon
# Dec 25 2001 at 9:10 AM Rating: Excellent
It really is a 21 dmg weapon against stuff that doesn't resist magic.

So, if you're going against a Froglok in Guk, it'll do the full damage, whereas if you were beating up Black Reavers or Spite Golems, it'll only do the damage of a 16 dmg weapon.

you DO realize that the two things you said are the some of the most important things on a weapon, and 21/29 is insane, also, would you kindly draw your attention to the 15ac as well? thats only what, a rather crummy breastplate, but its on your weapon! you turned down one of the best deals I could imagine, this thing will be going for upwards of 15-20k.
Analysis of the blade
# Dec 23 2001 at 7:16 AM Rating: Excellent
Just thought I'd share my perspective on this blade.

First some background

I'm a L58 ranger, with swiftwind and prior to getting this blade a Crafted velium warswod (18 dly 10 dam) in my primary weapon slot. having a permanent 40% haste, along with whatever haste buffs get dropped on me has always caused a problem for me.

Call of fire (for those who dont know) is a 65 point DD proc on all weapons, that causes major agro. I also tend to be the lead snarer in raids and groups, these things tend to put me high on the hate list, so high in fact that even with jolting blades running instead of Call of Fire The mobs turn towards me.

My usual tactic has always been to hit snare at around 75% health on the mob, or if it's mez'd then snare before the tank taunts the mob.

My average dammage per second (DPS) was around 60, 40 in groups or raids when I'm casting a lot.

With this blade, things changed a lot

Firstly my DPS is up to 75 solo 50 grouped or raids, thats a big jump.

Most importantly tho, the rate at which I'm hiting things has slowed down, so I get more dammage, for less blows, this has a big affect on agro, I can snare and not worry about the mob turning on me. I can use Call of Fire for that extra damage and not worry about the mob turning when I proc, I proc much more often now.

So from a rangers point of view, this blade kicks butt bigtime.

Since I obtained this blade, I havent had to jolt once, not a single time. Previously, with the same groups/raids I would use 2 or 3 bubs of mana on every mob just jolting. (low wis alas, although thats fixed too now)
RE: Analysis of the blade
# Dec 26 2001 at 3:31 PM Rating: Decent
I think you misunderstood him or are not aware of the fact that rangers get 2 weapons for our epic quest, like the warriors. rangers get a swiftwind and the earthcaller, 2 1hs weapons but you get one before you complete the entire epic quest. anyway just wanted to clarify this up. and i very much agree that this is a great blade. i'm a 51 ranger that is a good bit into his epic work, just waiting on a raid to CoM to get a jade reaver, and i use this and a lupine dagger. the dmg from this weapon combo is great.

A Fellow guildmate did in fact give up his epic for this. In all parses done on this blade it scored higher than Earthcaller every time.
Its the 5 Magic damage that makes the difference.
Against a non 100%MR mob this sword behaves as a 21/29 weapon with the extra 5 damage factored in.

You misunderstand. The epic hasn't been given up for anything. This was put in place of the velium warsword. What you must realize is that rangers don't get both epics at once. They get the swiftwind, then the earthcaller if they can get the shattered emerald from Hate. Many get stuck at this last step and are left with one epic instead of two.

Myself, I did this quest easily enough and am currently using the weapon in main hand over a defiance that I had before. It was a very good tradeoff. The extra magic damage makes up for any negatives this weapon has.

Nope, you don't get the extra AC from dex or agi, you get it from a thing called a AC Multiplier factor. Your actual AC is multiplied by 1.3 or so...can be more or less depending on race/class/lvl.

These are selling on my server for peanuts, surprisingly at that if you consider the stats and compatability on this amazing blade. The +5 magic mod does make it 21/29 in sorts, but the +5 damage extra is first passed through the mobs MR resists, so if the mob is highly magic resistant, the 5 extra damage will barely be applied.
RE: new sword
# Dec 31 2001 at 12:11 PM Rating: Decent
Your right about it passing through a MR check before each hit. However...this thing passes 99 percent of the time for me cause I'm hitting in the 90's even. Only time your really gonna have a problem is if you run into a mob with a 100 MR or something. So basically it's a 21 DmG offhand weapon. And if you didn't already know, delay doesn't matter for weapons in the offhand, and 21 dmg is the best you can get as a ranger for the offhand that I have ran into. EITHER WAY, EVEN IF it's resisted by the mob, 16 dmg offhand is still ONE OF the best offhand weaps (as far as dmg) out there!

BTW...this is going to be nerfed real real quick...so buy it while ya can or quest it while you can. Cause the quest is so damn easy it makes me sick. I did the quest 3 times in one afternoon on fennin ro! Sell em for 8-10k...that's the most I've ever made keke!

Yes, I suspect that this item will be changed or removed, the quest will be changed, or all of the above. The guy that gives this quest gives two others as well, and the quality of the weapons that result are drastically different. A 13/30 two-handed staff and a 18/38 two-handed hammer, vs a 16/29 one-handed sword. The secondary attributes are basically identical, so I can't help but wonder if this was supposed to be a two-handed sword, or something more along the lines of 12/29 in it's stats.

i was wondering how the 5 magic damage works in. does it make it a 21/29 or does the magic damage go in like the damage bouns?

i did this quest solo in 5hrs, most of the time was finding the people considering it was my first time to luclin. the only trouble i had was with ebbin, he ranges from light blue to dark blue to a 52 ranger. i played it safe and rooted, dotted and shot him full of arrows till half health then wacked away. the halfling in twilight was light blue and didnt have ring the first time, 20 min spawn he had it the second time. the named bandit had the dagger the first time which was lucky as i herd it is her rare spawn. her ph is a bandit on the left side of the lake a little ways from the others in the camp. bout a 6 min spawn and was way green. Yurdle is in katta on the top floor past the ramp down, you will see a cemetary with a bulding behind it, he is in the bulding on the left side. hope this helps.

the way a magic dmg bonus works is that it does a check against the mobs magic resist. if you pass the check the wpn becomes 21dmg 29dly, if u fail the check, it just stays at the 19dmg that its listed as. so if you are fighting mobs with a low magic resist, this sword is rather awesome, against high magic resist creatures though... it's still pretty rockin. hehe. oh ya, by the way, that check is done on every single swing, just a lil' fyi.
