have these drops dried up?
# Dec 11 2002 at 12:16 PM Rating: Decent
The reason I ask is, last night, between two groups there were no armor drops over the course of several hours.

Just as a datapoint for you, in about two hours recently in Umbral Planes my group got these greaves, the Moktor Bracer and a Helm of Radukan. So the answer to your question is yes, the items there currently can drop at a reasonable rate.

My group is hanging out in the UP last couple of weeks and the only armor drops off of the "uglies" have been these pants. We get many bracer drops off of the named moktor as well as the Gantru Charm. The only other drop lately has been the Helm of Raldukan off of a Raldukan mob.

The nice drops come about 1 per hour on average - so I guess not everything has dried up in the UP yet.

odd...
# Feb 19 2002 at 5:07 AM Rating: Decent
Seems strange to me that a set of armor has greaves with lower ac than the boots.
cant really level too fast

Actually, melee skills dont suffer at all.

However, skills like FD and Mend would sufer...

There are ways to make up for that also however.

can be equipped under 50th lv,... but the character under 50th doesn't get the full AC stats of the item til they hit 50....but they still get the full stats from the ability adds Str, Sta, yada yada..
RE: Moktor armor
# Dec 25 2001 at 8:28 AM Rating: Decent
So if you're under 50, how much AC do you get? Is it a percentage? Does it slide based on level?

For what its worth a lvl 41 war in my group last night one these on a roll, when he put then on he only got a 17 ac raise, so it doesnt seem like that big of a deal, so long as you are close to the lvl they recomend.

The only trouble with your thinking, Tularis, is it's wrong. My level 31 dwarf currently is wearing these. If we all post what we KNOW instead of what we think the value of this site would go up immensely. For him these are AC12, btw, so based on that and the Level 41 person who gets AC17, I would say its just a ratio of (level of toon/level of 50) times the AC of 21. With only 2 data points this is somewhat speculation, but still probably right.

Is that what the "recommended level of 50" means? That it can't be equipped by anyone < 50? Interesting...
So far I've only really noticed it on Umbral loot.

no more PLing and twinking i guess

I know that some think its bad for the game but i enjoy buying stuff for my lil SK when i have the money so its too bad that Verant is putting in level resitrictions. Its good to a certain extent though as at least you wont meet unbeatable characters under level 50.

there are near unbeatable characters still regardless of what luclin comes out with. put two monks up against each other of similar level, one has fungi tunic the other something without regen and watch the one with fungi come out on top (unless the other has some hella proc wepons)

a couple friends made a monk one sold all his wizards stuff and basicly twinked a lvl 1 monk to the degree of a 55+ monk in equipment needless to say 4 days later this monk (after the two played it pretty much 24 hours a day) was nearly 50 cause of the fungi and haste items. to top it off this monk was solo all the way to 55. some items just over power some classes way too much, its just the way the game goes.

Would you actually group with a level 50 monk if you found out he had only been playing his class for 4 days? I know I sure as hell wouldn't!

Equipment ain't jack without some skills to back it up. Not only did the melee skills on that monk suffer horribly because they leveled way too damn fast (yes, you can level too fast), the player(s) obviously had little to no time to learn anything at all about how to actually play a monk. Seems like what they did was basically run, pull, turn on autoattack, and eat nachos. Rinse, repeat.

Question is.. how would you KNOW if he had only played his 55 monk for 2 days?

Agreed on the time to level. I twinked my warrior and he leveled to 50 fast, because he had equipment "decent" to a level 50. After that things slowed down A LOT.

I'm not upset at the no-drop or level requirement, but it would be nice to get a drop once in a while. I was grouped up there on Mith Marr for almost a week after the last patch (that made Umbral more "interesting") and we had 2 bracers drop. Unless it was a named not much dropped. The Rald's still seemed to at least drop the helm. Got these before the last patch.

You CAN use this below lvl 50, it just reduces the bonuses like, ac,str, dex, sta etc... does anyone know what this looks like?
