Well, I got lucky and bought it from a ticked off druid on Sullon Zek. Got it for 1k, hehe.

I will never understand how someone considers themselves "lucky" for buying an item...

Anyone wanna comment on that?

Try looting one, they are very rare, not common as the post says. Hunted in FG for months killing these things and never knew of the cloak till it dropped the other day.

Ok this may be kind of a stupid question but here goes: What happens when you are 200+ in wisdom or intelligence? I am curious because you said that at 200+ the 55 mana was great. Please lemme know.

Nice for druids too

I bought one for 2500 today. Seen em for 3-5k so I think I got a good deal. As a monk cloak it is just ok... there are a lot better monk cloaks you can buy for the same price such as Cloak of Shadows or Spider Fur which are just as good and cheaper. I have this on my druid becuase it is one of the nicest wis back slot items for it's price. Acrylia cloak may have 4 more wis but the 55 mana actually is much better especially if your 200+. Heirophant's Cloak is better too, but also cost 5x as much. Very happy with the purchase.

Cloak of Shadows and Spider Fur Cloak aren't even in the same league as this cloak. This cloak is better by a wide margin. This cloak is a signifigant upgrade from Dire-Wolf Hide and Shimmering Terrorhide cloaks, and both of those cloaks are much better than the two you mentioned.

I do agree that this cloak, if you can find one, is a tremendous cloak for the price for a druid. The only other cloak in the same league for under 10k are the cultural cloaks (Tunarean Soldier or Stormreaper Boned, depending on your religion).

The spider fur cloak can be obtained for 250pp though. It doesn't matter how good the stats of an item are if you don't have the pp to buy it and are too low a level to hunt for the drop.

#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 27 2001 at 12:52 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I had the first of these on Druzzil, got it within the first day of luclin but was too lazy / didnt want to give away what dropped this item. One of the best druid / Beast cloaks pre Ntov. Better than a heiro cloak depending on what the druid needs (more wis more sta and added resist)Lotta friends said its worth 20k'ish to a druid, My best offer was a cloak of the maelstrom. Its a hard sell, you literally hafta find a uber druid who knows the importance of the item stats, and doesnt have a better cloak already. Woulda been a lot nicer of clerics and shamans coulda used it =/
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 27 2002 at 8:52 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Haha, this cloak is nowhere NEAR a Heiro cloak. Heiro cloak owns this cloak any day. Heiro cloak is 20 more mana, 20 more hp, 1 more AC, and 4 to all the other stats. The 2 more sta and wis do not make up for the extra mana/hp on the heiro, and 8svd is really useless. Still a nice cloak, but doesn't touch the heiro cloak

Ok this is a nice cloak, but umm its not as great as you people are making it out to be. Yes, I am a druid, yes I am 60 and with lots of plat and I understand stats. Turned down this cloak twice for 10k actually.

Interesting class restrictions...

Question: Would a monk want to use this at the lvl required to get it? Or would they have something better by now?

"Question: Would a monk want to use this at the lvl required to get it? Or would they have something better by now?"

At 58 my monk currently wears a Cloak of Torment
AC: 10 STR: +4 WIS: +4 INT: +4 WT: 1.0

I'd definately give up 1AC to gain 55HP, the svDisease can't hurt either.

Wearing spider fur at the moment mainly because of a weight issue i have with my PSC, and yes i would take it in an heartbeat, it's a 78 HP cloak at level 57, with the STA bonus.

Fungus Grove is pretty much 52+, occasionally lower 50's and even some high 40's. By that time most monks would have spider fur or shimmering terror hide. And if they didn't, I'm sure that any druid grouped with them would be more than happy to literally run to the bank (same zone) and cough up enough plat to pay for several of the aforementioned cloaks, should the monk win a roll.

MNK DRU BST, hm dont see anything interesting about the class restrictions, the 3 leather classes
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 21 2001 at 5:20 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Since when have monks been a leather class?
RE: Hmm...
# Dec 21 2001 at 6:18 PM Rating: Default

Velious quest armor (ToV/Kael) groups monks with druids into the leather armor class.

#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 21 2001 at 12:17 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Um, If you have a Monk, then your Abviously lost, if you don't then i can ALMOST forgive you, but as far as any other inteligent person who has played EQ for more than a Month Should know that when you fight Orcs in Oasis that they drop raw-hide armor, and also that all leather armor is wearable by monks we just DON'T wear it cause it all weaighs 1+ pounds each item. that don't count for tailored leather high end magical items or all dropped magical items but for the majority leather is heavy..heavy=bad for monks = monks don't wear...only leather i have on is Wu's fighting Cloak and Pantaloons, but i even have Some Plate armor too (silver plated bracer, Gem encrusted Gloves) sorry i rambled...end
RE: Hmm...

Just to nit-pick, Wu's is monk-only silk armor. Now I belive that haze panther is leather...and far better than Wu's.
Also a lot harder to make than Wu's!

Blackpather skin = monk
Hazepanter = rogue

easy to get it confused
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 03 2002 at 12:01 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Haze panther is also rogue only.

Have you been playing the same game we have?
