nice boots, I bought them because I like to experiment with unusual things (most people stick to like 2% of the items in eq). I actually find myself wearing these more often than I thought- stats aren't bad with the modifier as a plus.
These are dropped by the Shissar Magistrate on the first floor of Ssra. To reach his spawn point, zone into Ssra, invis, enter the first room, and go through the door between two guards. Follow the hallway to a T-junction (we usually set up camp at the T) and turn right. The Magistrate spawns in a room at the end. It is best to split the spawn when he is not up so he can be pulled singly when he spawns. He has a nasty lightning rain AoE and will chain nuke you with it when pulled. He can be done by a single 55+ group but a cleric, chanter, and hp/resist buffs are a must.
these dropped off one of the named snakes on the first floor, name escapes me. had a relatively small force there so he wasnt really that hard, but he was CH'ed bout 4 times before we could finally get him killed...these boots are awesome, though the stats dont belie that, and IMO they would best be put to use on the enchanter in the group. the channeling mod is kinda nice, fewer interrupts, the agi on it is nice to evade the attacks if you do get aggro, and the ac and HP on it are nice to take hits if you dont dodge them in the first place. very nice item, hats off to Verant for making them lore too.
just wanted to say im a wizard and im drooling over these boots. most of you will probably think im crazy, but i like doing things the hard way and soloing. when BoF is resisted it means pain and hurt is comming real soon. so the agility and the life are extremely nice plus the channeling mod to help make sure you can get the spells you need to get off whether that be root, snare, or gate (if u bit off more than you can chew)

I agree! My alt -Enchanter- would benefit greatly. But any combatant type caster would greatly benefit from these, namely Necros or Mages, well hell, All the casters would greatly benefit from these! )
Seems odd to me that caster only boots would only have agi and hp. They sound more like tanking stats. However, it does sound fitting for necros and enchanters as a back up in case they get aggroed. 15 agi is quite a bit, as well as 50hp is alot for casters. I know my mage would not be interested in these, although with the channelling, he would not turn them down if given to him.
I wear a lot of items that people consider 'tank' items. I even have an eyepatch of plunder for the health and ac. Many necros value health over int and mana. I have about 1600 unbuffed health and I am bu no means 'uber'. I have seen necros with about 2500 unbuffed health and no their other stats did not suffer. 255 int and such as well. Allthough, they'd gladly sacrifice it for more health.
Great boots. I am often times forced to tank for a while when soloing in dungeons due to the close quarters. With deflux, BoD and vex, I can do this fairly effectivly.... but only if I can channel. For mages, it's not nearly as big of an issue. Their pets are ment to be tanks. If I choose to even use a pet, it's not a tank. Necro pets are ment to be damage dealers. That's about it. Even I have more health than my monk pet.
Well they are for the tanking casters. The extra agi and hps are nice bonuses as well. I play an enchanter and do tend to get beat on from time to time. So much so that I now look for items with ac hp and agi on em. With proper buffs , I can get to about 785 ac, and 2500 hp. I find that the extra ac really helps in the partial dammage hits. Unless of course you are tanking Treah, then you just wait for res and hope you get back before its dead.
So , all in all, I say /drool.... I will be taking a group or 2 in there to get my pair soon.
I agree with you. I personally think that these would be used only by Necromancers and Enchanters... as Mages / Wizards don't _need_ the hp and great AC, but the skillmod is great. Having a necromancer (and an enchanter as well, both 52+) I know that I would use these on either character, hands down. The agility gain ain't half bad, either.
And from looking at the mob / zone that drops this, I'd say that these are the best boots for the classes that can use them for the risk vs. reward factor involved... as these are far superior to Golden Efreeti or Coldainskin Boots, and anything better is out of the reach of the force that could take down this snake.
Just want to say: As a mage I tend to be a battery at times. TransRod (or modrod2) is a highly effective method to regain mana fast and the most efficient way is with a cleric sitting next to you doing a CH once in a while. Currently I don't care about +mana or int all that much any more.
Just give me serious hp so the cleric's CH gets more effective.
Too bad there aren't resists but that's really all I can think off :).
