Geerlok Clockwork Contraption

For those not wanting to camp this guy for ages to get these, try going to the bazaar and buying a Geerlok Clockwork Contraption which gives a 5% skill mod to tinkering, as opposed to the 2% mod on this drop. Smiley: wink2

Well Dack killed me once so I have had revenge on him about 50 times to outfit all my alts and now he finally dropped the tools - I am not finished with him will kill him a few times again. Now it just takes a few smacks to drop him.

i hate this guy i have killed him well over 200 times and have not gotten these tools. is SoA so cruel that they put something to finally help tinkering then slap it on a underconned gnome and when you are high enough to kill him without gettin your a** handed to you he wont drop the item.im sorry for the rambling but this is nuts ive already spent a fortune on tinkerrring and i want the tools increase the drop rate sony stop being jerks. have a nice day:)

Got these tools tonight after killing the little *******, and all his friends, about 50 times before they dropped(wasn't farming them just grinding in tunnel). Does anyone have any idea how much they're worth? Since they seem to be an extremely rare drop would 5k be asking too much?

Got the tools on the first kill. I'm either very lucky or the drop rate has increased. I have a gnome friend who is going to make me a rebreather, I'll give these to her.

No, i'm looking at them right now, and they are:

all/Bar Trl Ogr Gnm Iks Vah

What the other races would want with them is a mystery to me.

I've been killing this phreek (what else would you call a gnome wizard that nukes for 185 and PUNCHES for 80 at lvl 25???) ever since he killed me. This has dropped once out of about 20 kills. He doesn't drop anything else worth while (deluxe toolbox, whoopy!) but I like to kill him anyway. I'm a lvl 31 rogue and I solo him with troubles sometimes. At lvl 28 a solo class could take him I think.

This gnome is a wizzy. He DDs do up to 181 points damage. Not that tough once you survive the first several blasts.

Ok, I have killed him no less than 80 times and have NEVER seen the tools drop. I have the toolboxes on me and all my alts, and heve given some to guards just so they dont rot.

My gnome is sitting just outside this room waiting for the day that I actually loot the tools and transfer them to him.

This guy is light blue to me now. I hope to get the tools while he still gives me that pixel of exp.

Here is the info you are all requesting in the threads:

Dack is located through the "Secret Entrance" from Shadowhaven (on the way to Fungus Grove). When entering the zone, you will go left along the wall, and the entry opens into a hallway behind a torn curtain. There are several named NPC's in this area, surrounded by mutants. He can randomly spawn, though he was the first NPC in the opening to the right more than 1 time. I killed him twice, and realatively easy at level 51. I would estimate his level to be around 20 to 30 max, he is a melee type, and hit for max 50 against my necro. Both times I killed him, he dropped a Deluxe Toolbox, 10 slot container 3.5 wt. His Respawn time is about 15 minuites at most. The key to killing this guy is to pull him out of that room, as there is a priest healer who heals him quickly and often. The nice thing about the priest, (and im not sure if its a bug) is that when attacked, he despawns, I used fear and when it wore off he depopped. That is critical, as it can be very frustrating getting your mob down to 1/4 health and having to start the fight again after the priest does his business.

There are several other named NPC's in the cavern as well, all of them have a 15 min respawn time, and a rare/common drop.

Happy Hunting!

Just a few things. Dack is a caster. He is way easy for a 46 warrior, I was able to solo the whole area there when I was that lvl, just bring alot of bandaids which you can buy from that same zone (dont attempt killing Roy, he's a lil tough and never droped anything for me). Almost all the named in that area can spawn anywhere in that area, it will either be a mutant or a named. The ones that dont apply to the rule are The Preacher, Roy, that guy protecting the shrooms, the gnome hiding in the corner with the rocks, and that high elf princess and her lil dwarf female next to her. The preacher does not depop when attacked, he depops when he takes a step. I was able to melee him to death but most of the time my attacks pushes him back too far and he trys to step towards me and depops or his corpse gets stuck in the wall or one of the rocks, he didnt have a drop any of the times I was able to loot him. If you dont want to deal with him healing our mobs, just aggro him and move away and you wont have to worry about him. Not all of the named have a common and rare drop, the ones that do are Dack, Crinthia, Torrin, that dwarf male that either has a torch or pick, and that high elf chick. I've heard the shroom guy has a rare but I've never seen it.

This fellas is easier than anything to kill after lvl 25. he drops the box every time and you will not take any faction hit other then the Mutant one. The box is great regarding the bonus to tinkering and also comes in handy as a GIant size container with 10 slots to hold stuff.
RE: Read This and know
# Dec 20 2001 at 7:46 PM Rating: Decent
The tools are not a container. What you have is the deluxe toolbox, his common drop. The toolbox does not give the bonus to tinkering.

My friend got one on the first kill while he was just messing around. How much would something like this go for? I know there are the tinkered 5% items but sofar this seems to be the only tinkering held skil mod so I figure I should be able to get a Tailoring and Smithing mod item for this? =) -- Prozzden of Innoruuk
RE: No Trade for Tailoring
# Dec 20 2001 at 11:45 PM Rating: Decent
You won't be able to trade this for the Tailoring tools, never mind two-for-one; tailoring tools are one of maybe three items tinkers can actually sell for a profit. If you ask nicely, and the tinker is a friend, you might be able to trade for the smithing tools.

Any gnome that can afford to tinker can kill this MoB, and the other tools also require drops off mid-level MoBs. If you provide the tinker with the required dropped component for your tool and the Tinkerin' Tools, then you should be able to trade. That's how I got my fletching tools.
His level?

Ok, my question is.. Gnomes are the ones who will want this item, but we gotta *kill* a Gnome to get it . . that doesn't make sense to me. Won't we lose faction or something? Doh!

RE: Hrmmm .
# Dec 20 2001 at 12:26 AM Rating: Decent
Well, it wouldn't make sense to be on an ogre NPC. What would an ogre NPC be doing with a tinkin' kit?
More like rare drop
# Dec 18 2001 at 6:41 PM Rating: Decent
The tools are not common. I've killed this little gnome at least 50 times and only seen him drop the tools once. He does drop a deluxe toolkit (like the ones purchaced in IC) every time he does not drop the kit though. Nice free 10 slot bag for the bank with giant capacity. Gotta like that Hehe.

I killed the bugger 14 times, right now I have 5 of the toolboxes in my inventory and 8 in my bank, I got the tools around my 11th kill, must have been pretty lucky.
