There's no need to argue about this weapon here in 2003. When Kunark came out, Charasis was one of the tough dungeons. You needed a key to get in, most of the mobs harm-touched and it wasn't easy to get out.

At that time, there were very few good rogue piercers. 12/25 was a good ratio that I would have used, not to mention that 12 damage piercers were unheard of at the time (FSS was a gm event item). Remember, people were still trying to figure out the epic quests.

Bloodpoint also dropped in this zone, and that was the cream of the crop considering it had a lifetap!

Anyways, you can't compare an item like this to a frozen shard or centi SS or whatever. With older items you have to just take them for face value, or in my case, sentimental value =)

This is the lamest conversation I have ever seen.....If you guys manage to get near the level to take this mob and handle this zone... and you all still have to discuss what things alter an items price?

1. If its magical, hardly ever concidered anymore

2. Believe it or not weight matters, some people dont have 100+ tamina, but I'd hope you would by the time you get this

3. of course ratio, not even always damage. but ratio. by this time you should have some decent stuff, decent dps. Primarily with rogues weapon damage matters because it factors into the backstab damage

4. The level of the mob it drops off of, the difficulty and the rarity. From all I am reading this zone his hell, the spawn is lvl 51 and the item is super rare.

5. Stats this has 2 rogues like. And more strength means better backstabs

6. who can use it. one class only drops the price a lot in some cases. in others i have seen it rase the price.

You could say logcially a Centi goes for as little as 200 sometimes lets say 500 add all those other factors. You would be lucky to get this for 2.5 on any server. and any higher, oh well... whats it worth to you?

The reason almost all high end rogue weapons are really expensive is simple. Backstab. see, piercers, in general, suck. I mean before Kunark and so on, you would be WAY hard pressed to find a decent, magical piercer with good stats. And I dont mean uber lvl 50 at the time, I mean you would probably be running around at lvl 25 with a freaking FS. lol.

Do a search sometime on rogue / piercing. There are many. now concider weight and the top damage is multiplied for backstab. 1 point or 3 points is a HUGE difference. now drop all that are not magical, and all that are unrealistically heavy... and your looking at a LOT of crappy choices...

i know every other class has ******* before. but I have been playing a wood-elf rogue. they say one of the worst choices. I am appauled at the lack of decent gear available. no pets, hard to get gear, people way high lvl still talking about the difficulty in soloing... if you can solo at all. I am just saying, a rogue is an outcast, id think a solo ability would be nice. and you take like a cleric or an int. based caster and you can pretty much loot your way through a lot of the game. Not a rogue. Every mob your supposed to take on, you most likely can not solo... its sad...

small dragonbone shard..tho with no stats, 13/26, only goes for 3k...for the minor stats on this thing..i wouldn't in hell pay 2 times the price
also stone bladed siluetto(however that's spelled) only goes for like 8k on DRO 14/28 10dex/agi or such which would be a much better buy than this for 6k

ok 1st of all small dragonbone shard is small races only (was checkin it out for new weap for my rog and noticed wood elfs cant use *doh*) and second of all it doesnt go for near twice as much, and i like agi/str =)
great weapon

The reason this weapon is worth so much more is because it IS a piercer. You cannot backstab with a centi SS my friend. Additionally, centi SS are a dime a dozen. I have this rapier and have yet to see another on the Tunare server. This weapon will be my main hand till I finish my epic ( 3 General raids thus far, I have really bad luck hehe).

So far as the delay goes, I recently purchased a 8/18 str10 proc berserker str Shadow Rager cause I thought that the low delay would be better than the rapier. I was wrong. My damage output is much higher with the Rapier, even if you discount backstabs. My average pierce value is mid 20's to low 30's with the Shadow Rager and is mid 40's to low 50's with Rapier, often going above 60. There is no comparison as far as the BS damage goes either. I rarely BS above 200 with the SR while most of my BS with the rapier are over 200 with a lot over 300. (My str is 197 with Mrylo arms clicky buff BTW.)

The long and the short of it is this. This weapon is very nice and is ultra rare. That means that it is not cheap. While I would probably sell mine for 6k or so, the economy from serever to server varies tremendously. A bloodpoint (overrated in my opinion) goes for 5-6k on Tunare to give an example. I will not be selling it in any case because it looks cool and it is nice owning a weapon that so few others have.(how many have you seen?) Kind of a status symbol I guess.

Just my thoughts on the subject.

You make valid points, but you missed his disclaimer. He said IF you have your Ragebringer. I'm sure that he was fully aware that you can't backstab with a Centi Shortsword, and that he was thinking in terms of an offhand weapon.

If I played a rogue - which I don't - then yes, this would be an excellent backstabber throughout my pre-epic career. Haste is a lot easier and cheaper to come by these days, so any arguments about high delay can be thrown right out the window.

Centi Shortsword
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM
Skill: 1HS Atk Delay: 25
DMG: 12 WT: 5.5 Dmg/Sec: 10.00
STR+5 STA+5
Class: WAR PAL RNG SHD BRD ROG
Race: ALL

This weapon is nearly identical to the rapier, the only difference of course being it is 1hs and not piercing. this weapon goes for 500pp. Would this simple difference increase the price of the item by 1000%? its hard to say...but i dont think so. IF you already have the ragebringer, you will be using the rapier off hand anyway. in that case, you could just as well use a 1hs as a piercing weapon. The ragebringer is easy enough to get that no 50+ rogue should be with out it for very long. Hence save yourself the money and get a centi SS.

Then again, not many piercing weapons are out there that have a dmg higher than 10. Plus the delay is actually not bad considering that jagged ice shard (12/29) goes for around 3k and crystaline spear (13/30) goes for about 1k these days. Thus i would say a 12/25 would go for 3.5k maybe 4k. due to rarity perhaps 5k. you people talking about 20k..thats just rediculous. Dont lose sight that for off hand this thing is no better than a centi SS. your extra skill in piercing wont make that big a difference in dmg output compared to 1hs'ing. Most of your dmg comes from your primary weapon anyways.

Pre-velious this was one of the best piercers available. 12/25 still is a great ratio, specifically for rogues. Not too slow, and 12 damage makes for decent backstabs as well. There is afew weapons that come into mind that can compare to this (hardwood bone 12/25) but I favour this one for specific reasons.

1. It's a rapier. Nothing looks cooler in my opinion, that a rogue weilding a rapier. It's also rarely seen in the high-end game.

2. Lightweight, and can be used in PRI and SEC. Less stamina drain and overall weight as well as versatility. I personally hate PRI only weapons.

3. Stat bonuses are nice, as well as the fact that it's a rare weapon. Not many of these around. I've seen it being sold once, in my 2 years of playing.

2.5 sounds about right with no procs and a 25 delay that all any rogue should pay for this weapon. the rest of you are high

"have a high backstab of 350 at lvl 40"

either you have a 14dmg weapon you paid lots of money for or you're lying. 13dmg weapon at lvl 46 with maxed BS skill with 255str = 320 or so max.

"Bad points: no proc"

I disagree, strongly. For a rogue, a proc is often a very bad thing. It's unpredictable agro. Depending on the nature of the proc, it can be much worse, too. A DD proc, for instance, will break root, which is often used for agro management. Utility procs often have conflicts with caster spells and either do nothing (except anger the mob), or prevent more useful spells from landing.

I keep various utility weapons that I use when the need arrises. But for normal day to day stabbing, I go with non-procing weapons.

25 delay isn't all that slow...

I see rogues settle for the howling harpoon all the time and it's 10/25...this is 12/25 with usable stats (5 wis and 10 mana on harpoon). If you have the power or cash to get this item then you should have the money to pick up a fbss or some handwraps.

Stats not just nice, the 3 main stats for a Rogue, besides Dex. The Damage is great for the lvl and anything else would be at least this. The delay leaves something to be desired, but if you're a Rogue you prolly wouldn't understand.

High dmg = nice backstab
Slow delay = seems not to increase agro as much as faster weapons.

stats
# Nov 14 2001 at 10:00 PM Rating: Decent
for this weapon your paying for stats also, there are many other weapons that have better dam/delay ratios but here you get a decent damage piercer, with useful stat bonuses to rogues. Other weapons that make better combo's don't have the added bonus of stats, they get procs which agro too much for rogues to use a lot

you know the bad thing about this guy Nyshraak he has a high backstab of 350 at 53 which he should have ragebringer and i have a high backstab of 350 at lvl 40 and on my server a bloodpoint is going for 20k and this is 10 so getting a blood he won't have money left over and by the way i was lucky friend was given an account with a 52 rogue and 51 druid and he gave me this weapon for trade of my crystaline spider fang hehe

I'd say the actual price is neither 25k nor 2.5k but more around 10-15k depending on server.
As for how good the item is, its got about the same damage output as a faster weapon (such as Locustlure) but you also get higher backstabs and the bonus stats, including more strentgh (which equals more atk), not to mention no proc equals less taunt factor which some appreciate..
I recently gave up my locustlure to wield this poker, and I'm loving it.
Also think the price has something to do with the rarity of it- more rare than the erudite mask, and people will pay crazy money for that thing...and you can't even backstab with it :)

This weapon is uber rare, Drops from a Rare spawn in HS in area where almost nobody but rogues want to go. The Damage Ration is one of the best out there for us. 12/25 is a Dam ration of .48. hehe Add in the Stat bonuses and you are looking at a weapon that none of you will ever get for under 25kpp. heh

There are only like 2 on the the Tribunal Server that I know of. Good luck guys. 2500pp. hehe. I just bough a Mrylokars BP for 3k too. hehe J/K

If it's selling for only 2.5K, then it's woefully underrated.

The Bloodpoint, IMHO, is overrated.

Both weapons are pretty dang awesome, don't get me wrong. All things told, they are pretty equal in my book. But rapiers just look cooler :)

I have been wanting this weapon for MONTHS, and managed to loot it off the procurator last night. I was thrilled. Even better, it's off-hand usable. So with a ragebringer in the primary, this is capable of dishing out some significant damage in the secondary.

It's light weight (only 1.8 stones!) means that endurance loss from using it is minimal, as well.

Snailz... It is Rogue ONLY..! therefore the price drops considerable...! Because only one class can weild it, and only ONE class will BUY it....!

2.5 is about right....! depending on your server..!

Jade mace Vs Knuckle Duster syndrom.. (nearly the same damage output) but jade mace sells for 14k while the KD sells for 5k cause it is MONK ONLY..!

This thing is definetly worth more than 2.5k, that's for sure. 15k is a tad bit over, something around 3-5k is what *I* would call acceptable, being SCH's are worth 2k and every point of damage counts to a rogue

with 10/20 dmg/del a TT is worth 10kish..and that is in a easy to get to zone....this is a dungeon crawl zone key needed to get in and get around. Granted TT is faster...but anyone that plays a Rog knows what that extra 2 dmg will do to your backstabs.
