I got mine from the VERY generous people from Lords of Light I beleive. Mine had an AC bonus though of +1? Thanks again to the LoL....:) I still owe you guys
I have an Iksar Monk (level 5), and a friend got me 2 "Horns of the Beast", 6/30, HP +10, Mana +10.
My High Elf ENC was in Firionia Vie, and I saw these on a vendor. Having lost a Rusty Ulak by dropping it on the floor to transfer it (minor bug), I was happy to see this. It only cost about 4gp (ENC charisma is 134).
The damage is higher on these, but so is the delay.
I think this is a good weapon for low level monks and beastlords, although I'd love to get a Polished Steel Ulak.
Polished Steel Ulaks are good, but if you want something w/ real kick get either the Exquisited Puresteel Ulak or Exquisited Puresteel Wraps (or 1 of each). Stats on both are Dmg 20, Dly 19. Wt 1.00. +18 AC, +15 Sta, +25 Agi, +25 Dex, +15 Wis, +20 vsMg, +20 vsFire, +155 HP, +135 Mana, LORE MAGIC NODROP Effect of Sting of Ayonae. Classes: Bl Mk. All Races.
I saw an orc pawn in Gfay in the Newbie area with one of these last night. I wasn't sure what it had in its hand. Being a loyal Scout of Tunare it is my duty to slay the foul crushbones that plague my homeland. So I backstabbed him. When I saw the item I was a bit confused as to why it would be in that area. Right place at right time. Now what to do with it......?
Most likely, some high level was rolling through the area and dumping junk on the pawns - I've "seeded" the low level mobs on several occassions either to give stuff to the nubes or just for shoots and giggles - try handing out smoked woodelf to the orcs in GF and watch everyone go nuts. :)
A friend found this in neriak for my alt. It's still an ok item, but it has been nerfed. I didn't see the dmg bonus listed. Everything else is the same.
I don't think the lack of dmg bonus is a nerf - as people have pointed out before (since discovering these weapons etc since Luclin came out) the damage bonus won't show up until you're a certain level *and* can use the weapon -- a druid or cleric won't see a dmg bonus on this because they can't use it, but a monk or beastlord of high enough level will.
The more you level, the higher the damage bonus you get with the weapon. It's actually pretty cool, since you don't lose any stats the way you do with recommended level items (AC), and it only tells you what *you* would get with the weapon.
I knew my cleric would not see the dmg bonus. I meant my monk did not. I now realize you also have to be a certain level. Oh well, picture just confused me as I dont usually play a melee. :)
This is the lesser of the better wep, Polished Steel Ulak. The Polished Steel Ulak has some great stats for a Monk or Beastmaster. The most important attribute to this is that it uses Hand to Hand skill not 1hs. For those who have not played monks or Beastmasters, Hand to Hand for those classes are the primary melee ability. This adds to the damage/delay from your normal hand to hand combat. I love this thing. The Polished version has a little better stats, same Str, Wis, HP, etc, but the value of the stats are increased, 3 wis, 3 str, etc. I put this on my level 2 Beastmaster and she was hitting for 18, it was instakill for the first 2 levels after that. I love this wep, it looks cool too, it looks like a half-moon blade held in the players hands, I ended up with 2 polished Steel Ulaks so when she gets dual wield it will rock. The only problem, and I know people hate to hear twinking, but it drops off mobs that are higher level to which this wep might not be as good as other weps for that level (mid 30to high 30's) in Dawnshroud Peaks.
this drops off the tribal gathers/lookouts near the maidens eye zone. You can see it in thier hands, looks like a half circle metal blade. They also drop another H2H weapon that has the same look, but much better stats. something like a shiny steel ulak or something.
