I wanted to buy this on Druzzil Ro but everyone is telling me that its no drop! Has this item been nerfed and not updated on this site? If anyone knows please replay.
I was pretty happy when I first got this item, but as we kill better things in Ssra, this starts to look not as uber. Careful if you go for this that you are not excluding yourself from better lewts in the next 6 monyhs or so. Just my 2cp worth.
Geeze this is a killer ENC item. Secondar/Range is great to pick which slot you want it in. Once I finish my epic this will be a great combo. Sweet resists with int and cha is awesome. Looks like I'll have to go run to the deep. Dont really need the effect as an ench, but if it'll stack with everything else it'll work ok with me.
Can anyone tell me what mob drops this or is it a random drop for all mobs?
Thought Horror Overfiend drops it.. there's a pic of him in the beastiary.. He's big, ugly, lvl 65, ton of hps and casts an AE that causes you to fizzle your mana away. Quite a pain to kill.
Actually very easy to kill(especially now that hes rooted) all you gotta do is get your tank to run out and agro him, he AEs, if he AEs the fizzle spell you cast RGC(remove greater curse) on all your casters to get rid of it, and leave it on your melee. Then get your tank to agro him again and get the slow spell casted on all your caster, the 2 AE's do not stack, and he hits soft and is slowable, 2 clerics is enough for this fight if u bring a modrod 2 mage. Will be a long fight though, he has high AC and 900k HP
Great Mage item if you dont have Shield of Auras, or necro, it does stack with Lich and has 3hp/tic.
Also dunno where you heard this "absorb 5000 damage" bullcrap but it's not true. If I use a mod rod (300 dmg) I still take 150 dmg. 300-150 = 150 ie it absorbs 150 dmg period. It has a 6-7 second casting time also, not instant, and yes it's NODROP.
Otherwise, the Overfiend is a FUN fight. Took 40 of us a long long time to kill it. The AE causes you to fizzle I'd say about 90% of your spells, nasty.. and he has approx 1M hips. (this was before he was rooted)
Insta click would have been sweet, but I can see why it isn't. Still, I think the damage absorbtion is more than 150. I lasted a lot longer taking damage than I thought I would with a 150 point absorber. Have to test some more. Would have been super sweet if it was targetable, but I am not complaining.
The other nice thing is there is finally an uber with good caster loots. I am also wearing the arms he drops. Can't remember exact stats, but I think they are AC 15 mr/fr/cr 15, str 25, sta 10, hp 55, mana 100 Caster only.
Yes, it's nice. It WAS instant-cast for almost a week. I can't believe they nerfed it to 5 secs (seems more like 8 tho). /cry

When it was insta-cast it was useful. Mostly coz you could click it and get the regen going to recover hitpoints that ya just lost from getting whacked for 500 points.
Maybe if a lvl 1 caster had this, it would make them "invulnerable" but not really coz u need to deal damage to kill a mob, standing or running while clicking this thing aint gonna do **** to save you. 150pts aint nothing at level 60. Also, it does NOT stack with wiz epic. So it's one or the other.
This Overfiend guy takes 30+ high level chars to kill and has massive and I do mean massive hitpoints. We've killed him at least a half a dozen times and he has dropped the orb once only. hell, the mobs in the last stretch of the break to this guy have 50k+ hitpoints and are yellow to 60. I doubt anykind of farming is gonna be happening to flood the market with Orbs. Mine is the only one Fennin Ro that I know of and we are 3 weeks in to SoL. Also, Vi has changed the Overfiend and made him even harder to kill =/
Bottom line: Rare drop from rare hard to kill boss mob, requiring a major raid to obtain. I'm glad I got mine when I did. pre-nerf was awesome useful item. Post-nerf it's ok after a rez and nice stat/resist gear.

I'd place money on the fact that it is NOT instant cast time. It probably has a long cast time. Can you imagine an instant cast time 150 rune? Nothing that hit for under 150 a round would ever do damage to you. Sure it dosn't help on raids as much... even though it would still be godly on raids.... but talk about unbalancing in exp groups. I could tank some of those spiders in Velks indeffinatly.

Nonetheless this is still a godly item. 10 vs all, 10 int, 25 mana, +mana regen, +hp regen. If someone gives my necro one of these, I'll let you sacrifice me for 10 levels straight. :)
rune only sheilds up to the maximum of damage it could take. so if your rune still had 1 point left to it and you were hit for 5000 damage. you would still take the 4999 damage and of course be calling for that rez or getting a sow for the CR. i use the rune effect in Berserker Spirit Alot to save on those nasty resists or to protect the tanks when the cleric is casting a Cheal and they need extra hp to make it. but think about it. if 1point of a rune could sheild against x amount of damage, then why use the lvl 52 rune that costs 350 mana and a component that costs about 11pp a pop, when you could use your lvl 16 rune that costs 41 mana and uses a component that buys for 3gold?
Because you want one that will still be on you after 10 rounds of attack, not one that will only absorb the first hit.
I could be wrong, and maybe it used to be different, but we used to low-level rune a tank if he had to pull a SK mob so the harm touch was nullified, which it sure seemed to be.

That is a nice Range slot item. I believe it would be helpful for me and my evacs. I can see all the flames that follow saying how at the lvl needed to attain this I'd have INT maxed out (blah blah blah). OK, I'll get it for Saves...look! +10 all around. There we go. And Boon of Recovery...don't know what it does.
it is also listed as a held item, witch if im not mistaken, and i very well could be. it gives you all its benifits just being in a general slot in your inventory :) WOW also there is food items that when held in your inventory give bonus to stats, I found food that gives +2 to wis and a different one that gives +2 to str, in the bazzar on luclin
