dropped for me tonight off a juggernaut (as per original drop info listed here --though it's been years since anyone posted on this item). I have killed 100s of jugs farming spells/aas. This item doesn't drop often -I definately haven't seen it in my last 100-200 kills.

This might matter on a progression server where this item would have a sweet spot of being a very good dagger (especially if handed down to an alt). If I had the choice of paying a couple of hundred plat (on progression) or having to kill several hundred jugs at level 60...

For the fellas who are talking about Ratio and Backstab

Why not swap when Backstab pops?
I use this (Pri) and Blood Point (sec)
On top of RBG (haste)
And when Backstab pops,
I swap to the Rabid Chokidal Fang (dmg 15)
and then swap back to the dirk.
For a lvl 48 rogue, i'm backstabbing for 340's.
And at the same time, still keeping the same ratio as when i'm dual wielding.
Just my 2cp.
Overpriced piercer

I use one of these in my main hand as it is the fastest weapon that I have. However, for a 10/18 weapon with fair stats, is it not WAY overpriced?

I thought the same when i first looked at the Seb croaking Dirk/CBoL but i've found that even tho you get less BS dmg the Ratio turns out for the better. I Use'd a 10/18 in Mainhand while im using Scimitar of Emerald Dawn in offhand (20/39 1hslash) I', lvl 55 and i BS for 250-350's with the 10dmg main... once i get my RB im gonna put that mainhand and rule aggro

As I rogue i personally would not use this weapon, yes the damage delay is rather nice, but i really think most my damage comes from my backstab. Why wield a 10 damage backstabber when i can wield a 15 damage backstabber? And trust me, the difference in backstab damage is very significant to the damage of the weapon. Not ttying to tell anyone else what to do here, just posting my opinion on this weapon.

my parse logs show this does about the same DPS as a frozen shard 13/26 on high ac mobs or mobs that are same or higher level than me. On mobs that are easier to hit, I'd rather use the higher damage/delay. On harder to hit mobs, you want more swings. The extra hits makes up for the lower backstab.

It's ALWAYS about ratio. Do the math. Rogue epic is 1.66 ratio, this is 1.8. Your Backstabs will be less damage, but there will be more of them! This weapon has only a slightly higher ratio (slower) than the Ragebringer, so all you non-epic rogues..... feel free to use this weapon. you'll feel like a cuisinarte!

not to mention the higher ration = sucks more. a 1.66 is alot better than 1.8. only thing thats gonna increase BS speed is haste, not wepon ratio.
Yes, haste

That's what Ragebringer has, I believe. Haste => more backstabs, right? Just as the original poster said.

Um, no there wont. Backstab is on its own timer, not on the ratio of the weapon.

You may be correct on the BS being on a seperate timer, however, haste does effect that timer. I believe the base BS timer is 8 seconds... add 105% haste to that (I believe that is the haste hardcap) and it should drop to about 4-6 seconds, however I have not been able to confirm that.

My theory could be wrong, but that is what I would believe if that haste formulae also apply to the BS timer as well.

I would have to agree. I would rather have something in my off hand that had
A: Better stat buffs (CSS)
B: Higher Damage and delay of 25 or Less.(to match RB) (CSS again)
C: Neeto Proc, like my Trochillic's Skean(clockwork poison)

Great for a warrior to hold agro with though. Give it to them :)

Why not use it?
# Jul 24 2002 at 9:24 PM Rating: Decent
Thats why you trough this little baby in your offhand and your 15dmg or if your me 13dmg in your main slot and just poke and poke and poke till they die? but for a lvl 20-35 Rogue that isn't twinked... they might like to buy one of these little babies.

Why not use this and switch out to 15 damage weapon whenever your backstab button recycles. That way you can do nice damage over time then get your big BS damage too.

Well the problem with piercers on a Warrior is skill caps. It may not seem like a huge difference, but Piercing's skill cap is 10 points lower than the cap for either of the slashing skills or the blunt skills. This will effect Atk, which directly relates to your dmg and how often you hit. This is a quality piercer, no doubt, but when most people see piercers they think Rogue usefulness, just like most people see 2hs and think Pally.

I certainly don't think Paladin on 2HS although some are made for them obviously with the WIS bonuses. I get big time crits with my 2HS and in so doing I can easily hold aggro. I agree with what you say about ATK on the dirk but you have never seen real crits from a warrior armed with a weapon like a twisted steel ******* sword or an axe of agression.

Offhand??!?!?!?! this sucks for offhand.. the stats aint too good, and the DMG is low. Like i put in another post my offhand (ima rogue) is a 20/39 1h slash i slash for upwards of 90's
with my haste belt the 18 delay is lowered to about 13

10/18 is better than 20/39 in the offhand.

[Edit]
Just noticed that the other post this person made said that they had a Scimitar of the Emerald Dawn, which is 20/34, not 20/39. That changes everything, since 20/34 is better than 10/18 in the offhand.
