hmm Baddpuppy, so what you want to tell me is that its much easier to get an amulet
1) off of a named ToV Dragon
2) with AoE Dispell
3) with AoE DD spell
4) masses of HP
5) where you need at least 3 good groups
6) where you mess up your CoV Faction
7) where you need much DPS ?

Sorry, i will prevere the mob which 1-2 good groups can kil, dont give any faction hits and is melee only :)

Bah! I have more admiration to those groups of 2 with a level average of 57 - 59 killing Va`Dyn than a single group of level 65.

My guild took down this guy today and I got the amulet by default. I am a 57 wizard(share alka account with my husband the druid) and I thought this was an ubber item to have...esp since I was trading it for a 7str 7int necklace. I have int coming out my ears the other stats are very valuable since 1) when I quad kite I get beat on a lot. 2) in zones such as seb in pick up groups I get aggro from adds before they are charmed. 3) No matter what u are, who u are, how good u don't overnuke whatever it is when u are fighting ae mobs u are bound to get in the ae when u run up to cast. Esp when u need to get into melee range for your lures to hit.

Don't be dissing on the mage who says he chain nukes because u know what when u fight an ubber mob with a bunch of ppl 1) it is unlikely u will catch the aggro with a bunch of warriors. 2) it takes nuke nuke nuke nuke nuke to take ubber stuff down. You have c3 and by now other flowing thought items, u can't sit, your mana is constantly regenning, so u mine as well make yourself useful and burn baby burn instead of sitting on your rump like a magot on garbage.

Pff She didnt even say there was a monk in the zone. Shees. Every character has a right to wear whatever they like and if there wasnt a monk in the zone then so what? would you rather see it rot?

SHEES!
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 12 2002 at 9:49 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) At least to a melee class for sure. what a waste of HP.
RE: good for any class

Casters need hp more so then melee because they lack it. Casters have the least natural hp then any other class including priests. Now lets concider we are up against a mob that AE's for 500 a piece. A non hp geared 65 fully hp buffed caster has about 3200 hp. When that caster goes down to 20% (640) he is dead, summoned from blood agro. So he can be hit 2560 damage total, that's 5 ae's. Chances are your healer will be watching you but you would be sucking his/her mana back big time. This fits nicely on the guilds pullers or mt if they need it, but if they dont there is nothing wrong with handing one over to a caster/priest.

If your fully buffed 65 caster doesn't have closer to 4k HPs, with non uber gear, it's time to check over the stuff he's wearing. I have all my juice on resists and end up close to, if not over 4k HP when raid buffed and I haven't even gotten to the point of having full SS armor or anything beyond that difficulty. Not chainsawing the argument completelly, casters need HPs in some situations as well, but IMO this shouldn't go to a caster unless all the melees have equal or better and definitelly no raid loot should be awarded on soloing capability grounds.
Besides, being a wizard you don't have to stand there and take the blunt of the AOE's, some fights it's hard to avoid, but more commonly you have relative safe spots where you can cover up now and then and let's face it, you are not gonna powernuke from square one if you have any will to live left in you.
Just my experiences, feel free to comment.

When are you weightless, non tanking, only good for pulling monks gonna realise, just because it has low weight doesnt mean its for you.Maybe verant decided to do something nice for warriors for a change.Im so sick o hearin monks whine and complain that their weight sux.Well to be honest, almost everything else about a monk does as well

Gimme a sk or a necro to pull anyday, dont need the monk ego
RE: Wake up

60 monk here.

I have 3550 hp's base. I have 1200 ac base. I do a great deal more damage than a warrior.

Also a +5sta +100hp amulet would be rather nice for my inventory. (236 sta)

So you see, with these stats I get asked to tank a lot. No, not the defensive required mobs but pretty much anything that's slowed is going to get it's *** handed to it by a 60 monk.

Then of course there's the pulling which requires many hp's. Then there's the scouting (And I don't care what you say, a monk >>>>> rogue for scouting. Some things see invis, nothing sees through FD. Unless of course you don't know how FD works...)

So basically try to become a little bit more informed before you start spouting off. This would be a very nice neck slot for a monk.

Or a caster.
or a melee.
or a priest.

You know, all of those classes that get hit in melee or get bombarded with AE's.

Wake up yourself, bards make better pullers than Monks by 65. The only reason monks say they are better pullers than SHD and NEC is because there is no cast time on their FD. Well, for bards, there's no cast time EITHER, and ours NEVER FAILS. Not only that, we can gate mobs away from us if we get too many, FM, drag the one we want back.

This item is ALL/ALL... let whoever is interested in it attempt to acquire it through whatever means their guild/raid uses.

actually hide + sneak is not the same as invis, ALOT of mobs that see invis do not see through hide + sneak, why think rogs are always at the end of a CR. and now days monk, warriors, sk, almost all melee classes have high hp + ac. why people have to sit there and put down other classes i dont know why. its more easy to equip a monk to deal dmg then to take it, if you people wanted to tank why not make a warrior/pally/sk? and IMO monks should not get first roll on all low weight items, esp on items like this, 90% of jewerly is light wieght, and just because 90% of it is does not mean it should not go to monks first. now if it was a piece of armor, legs/arms/chest that was light weight then yes it should go to monks first. a few classes can put this to good use, tanks need hp, as do the pullers

it basically boils down to use what resources you have, if you dont have a monk, but an sk have them pull/scout with all the equip out there today it doesnt make much of a difference. my 2cp

haha monks got nerf'd, you suck now =D, oh and also, in PoA, on the 7th isle, monk never survived a pull even after he FD'd, drakes just loved the idea of a helpless monk to play with hehehe

Neat Equasion
# Dec 13 2001 at 1:04 PM Rating: Decent
A very wise monk gave me a little code to use when debating on equipment, here it is:

1 AC=8HP=2STA

Givin this theory, this thing rules!
RE: Neat Equasion
# Dec 16 2001 at 10:17 PM Rating: Decent
Not a bad equation, I use a similar one when I'm thinking about equipment selections.

Of course, the 8 hp = 2 sta only is true whent he monk is 60. If you are looking at equipment to be used at 60, then it's fine to look at it that way. From 51 to 60 sta for monks use this formulae. 3.1-4.0, going up by 0.1 hp per sta each level. Keep that in mind for the actual gain you recieve prior to being 60 (if you are a monk, other classes have their own sta to hp conversions).

I'm wearing 5 ac 50 hp 0.5 wt necklace now. Need to finish my dragon tooth choker quest, I know (just too lazy to ask a few people to come keel the spy. /shrug). But if I could get this, I'd wear it no problem. The HPs and str gained from this are great, little ac, but for most purposes I'd happily wear it. If I knew I needed resists, I'd use a DTC probably, otherwise this.
Don't discount monk-usability
# Dec 13 2001 at 8:22 AM Rating: Good
Out of 174 monk-usage neck items, this thing is number 21 (with #1 being the best) when ranked as being the most melee-efficient.

Only the most uber monk is going to turn this baby down!

people always seem to assume that necros and shaman are the only ppl out there that want hp's

on my mage i survive at least twice as much as other casters cause i actually have enough hp's to survive while a heal is inc. i have 1876 hp's persona
l buffed only.. fully buffed shm/cleric 3200 .. some rangers tuck their tails when i say that ;)

and if a magician ain't gettin beat on at all ever.. hes not trying to get his group xp at a raid trust me heh chain casting sirocco and manastorm do not make u good buds with the mobs

i'll gladly wear this.. its worth 130 hps and i'll be replacing a 65 mana/hp neck

If you're casting so much that you're daring aggro and getting beat on, you're being terribly ineffective at your job. You're wasting the clerics mana by making him heal a caster, you're wasting the nice damage shield that you put on the MA who's supposed to be taking the aggro, and you're shifting the mob's position so he can run over and whack you and pissing off the rogues. That might be fine and dandy for grouping at the North Wall in DL :P, but if you got 1800 hp as an int caster you're likely lvl 60 and should know better. Trying to exp by KSing stuff in Hate and Fear is just silly, though as a druid I sometimes lay into PoF mobs when I have extra mana, but never enough to draw aggro :) Dinging 51 in PoF is pretty sweet.

i love people that think they understand anothers playing style through a snipet of text.. and then think they have the privledge to chastise.

i run most of my guilds raids.. i think i can tell if a cleric with 2 magicians a chanter necro and a druid is a bit bored and could use something to heal ;)

i have 283 days played.. i don't need helpful agro tips heh.

when you have 30 ppl on the same mob.. its xp meter is owned by 50%.. if you didn't do the majority of dmg by 50.. then you lose it period.. to get the xp.. waiting for a tank to acquire agro costs you time.. when its my groups turn.. i just do the dmg when it matters so

thppppppt ;)

As a cleric I often lay into Planar mobs when I've got extra mana. I'm FM, the tanks have aggro, and it beats sitting on my butt. Why not nuke? Btw, I got 47, 48, 54 in hate and 49 and 51 in PoG. Raid xp ain't all that bad if you're smart enough to do it safely.

Only clerics that hunt in PoG are bluebie dorfs and darkies, hehehe. Yeah, I imagine you had a lot of other clerics with you when you were nuking, and that's ok. Hacking up the first floor with 40 people is a bit dull, and that's fine. I'll assume you weren't nuking enough to draw aggro, since that was my point in the earlier message. I practice 1hb during kael raids so I can tag the mob for faction but not draw aggro. Someone said that the higher you are on the hate list, the more faction you get. Is there any merit to this, if so I better stop smacking those giants with my Kerran Fishing POle if I ever wanna get Yenalik (sp?) faction.
Good Rogue Item
# Dec 12 2001 at 10:19 PM Rating: Default
Necros arent the only ones that this would be good for, This would be a SWEET! Rogue neck item. Rogues do lack AC but the 100 hp and 5 sta would more than make up for that. And 10 str, dude this is a rogue item all the way!
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 12 2001 at 6:25 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) this is pretty nice if your aiming for hp, but it is lacking in the ac department
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 12 2001 at 8:54 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Necro's are about the only class that i could really see wanting this. As HP are very important in regards to mana regen (lich), and AC isn't all that important for em anyways.
RE: good, but could use some ac
# Dec 16 2001 at 8:12 PM Rating: Decent
All and all, hp is the 1st (maybe 2nd) most important stat in the game... ne class could always use that little extra hp =)
RE: good, but could use some ac
# May 31 2002 at 8:13 AM Rating: Decent
There are 3 things (well to be exact 7) you will never have too much of in EQ:
HP, mana, and SVs.

Oh and i forgot pp and friends. )

Granted it's not that easy for everybody to reach 1350AC and 255 in all of the interesting stats (especially STA duh), and whatever the soft cap in ATK is (around 1400? i forgot) but you can come quite close to this.

Shortly said Xerolyth is right, HP is probably the most important stat of the game, coz when you have 0 HP left, well your 4K mana pool or your 350 svmagic is a bit useless.

That's why i think this piece of equip, while a bit light in AC, is worth of our attention.
