what is the point of dexterity on this? Casters don't whack things trying to proc and stuff. They use intelligence to nuke things to death, turn themselves into little switches or other races, steal life of others, or give stuff like kei when they are 60 or clarity.

Actually looted two of these from Bogling Warriors in the Caverns - the dead end with the Chief if you take the left at the fork instead of right to the tentacled plants.
More of my lousy luck...

Gah! I looted two of these in a row today on Firiona Vie off the Needlite Queen.

No one in Market Channel would give me a PC, so I ended up selling one to some rather rude @$$holish guy for 30 plat.

So anyway, yadda yadda, anyone on FV needs one of these, gimmie a fair price and I'll sell it to you. And I will completely ignore the previous buyer, and his entire guild from now on.

Actually, this is a nice item if you need a resistance boost, DEX and AGI boost and have most of your other slots filled with INT gear.

Sure, you could waste time and go to all those other places or you could plop down 250 pp for the wing and get some nice stat boosts.

The only stat on this that's of any real value is the MR... and a ry'gorr oracle cloak, which can be attained at roughly the same level has 5 MR, 10 CR, in addition to mana and int bonuses. Enchanters might be able to use the agi bonus to aid in avoidance... but 3agi is so small as to be worthless, when compared with other cloaks.

I have only ever needed PR when I was fighting Trak. Never, ever, ever have I needed PR for anything else.

I have NEVER needed Disease resist. Maybe when dueling shamans/necros. That's about it.

The only good thing about this cloak is that it sells to a vendor for 7-8pp. If you really want a good caster cloak at this level, go to crystal caverns and kill yourself some oracles. Either that or get a kunzar cloak; but there's no need wasting time or money to acquire this.

Just a lil info

I came across needilites in echo caverns with my 30 warrior and soon realized they make a great solo camping spot. If you watch the order they pop it is easy to only pull one at a time and bind wounds in between. About an hour after camping them the queen popped. She was blue to me at 30 and not a bad kill with full health. Depending on how you have killed all the needlite's you may get aggroed by one of her fiends. Her common drop is this wing... she always drops either this or the stinger (rare). I don't think she is a fixed timed spawn but she does have a PH. Her PH is the needlite in the rear center of the room. I camped here for like 8 hours and she popped like 6 times so I would say on average she pops once per hour or just lil longer. Also I got 5 wings and 1 stinger. Hope this helps... too bad my Beastlord can't use the wing!

About the Mob
# Jan 20 2002 at 12:48 PM Rating: Decent
This seems to be the common drop for the Needlite Queen, who spawns in the square room of Needlites in Echo Caverns. She seems to spawn randomly within a 2-3 hour timeframe. I could be off a little bit there, but it's my best estimate.

I, being 29-30 and a rogue being 23-24 camped her and her room easily on Quellious.

You want to keep the room clear, but pretty much expect an add with her. The Needlites themselves are difficult. While they hit frequently, they don't tend to hit too hard. DS and Snare are wonderful against these guys. The queen, though, does poison. If you're a healer, have cure ready.
She does hit frequently, and a little harder.

Anyway, the wing is nice. The other drop is the stinger, but it seems to be uncommon-rare(?). I handed this off to my Enchanter. I've got another one comming. For 500+pp, I think i can handle sitting in EC. :)

#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 20 2002 at 12:59 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) well these are nice for casters adds to AC with AGI and the +6AC and the +dex stops us casters from getting our spells interupted and thats way nice when your gettin pounded and cant land a root spell or are trying to summon a pet or even nuke. I am considering replacing my mages kunzar cloak with one doubt I will though

Channelling skill is what helps you avoid interruptions; I don't know where you got the DEX idea.

This item is ok for its mild resists, that's about it I think.
Believe it or not, but..

well you see.. i am a level 10 chanter..it was a saturday night, and i was orc camping..these werent your common orcs, oh no, they were dropping fine steel, Pickmaster Coifs all over the place, and almost always had a DF belt, they were also dropping Giant Needlite wings, Jasper, Moonstone and Bloodstone rings, and some other way to good loot for a level 10 chanter. well i got 3 coifs in a row, and a couple other popped but i didnt get em. i didnt getthe needlite wing though, but i saw the potential and asked him if i could buy it off him..and he said sure 6 plat..boy wont he be pissed when he find out how much these babbies are worth. but it musta been a bug cause the following sunday i was camping all day, i got all the belts a grand total of 36 and only 1 coif dropped. all the other stuff was rusty, so they musta fixed what ever bug that was. well thats my 2 cP on the Giant Needlite Wing.

Not that i finally have +200 int i can shed some stuff for resist gear. this is the perfect replacement for my Kunzar Cloak, agi is the second most important stat to a wizard, and magic and disease saves are nice as well. the AC isn't too shabby. a little more info on mob would be greatly appreciated.

I found this first night on the moon from the Needlite Broodmother. Spawns in the middle of the room with the needlites.

These are actually cute, in my opinion. Though I dont see why it is for casters, as it has no awesome caster buffs, but who cares I can use em! This will be part of my raid outfit, I needed some resist gear in a very bad way. No clue on value though.
