Bought them for 75pp last night. Didn't try for anything cheaper 'cause it's a waste of time. You want it, you see it, you buy it. I don't really care what a cheap item like this costs.... don't have time to care.

LOL, when I was a young lil shadow knight, I sold a crystallized sword, a brigandine tunic, a lumberjack's cap, and bronze boots, spaulders, gloves, and legs to a merchant and made like 100pp, now thats stupid.

Yes and no...the truly common ones are the Heavy Iron Ulaks...the Polished Steel Ulaks, based on about 200 kills of various cavemen, drop about 1 in 4 of cavemen carrying slicer weapons. So while yes, they could be fairly common, they are still less frequent than the Heavy Iron Ulaks. This should probably be changed to Uncommon, but even that is arguable.

But yeah, no weapon is worth giving up all your armor for! geez...you can't whoop the bad guys' asses if you are naked and getting hit every time!

It's not taking advantage of people without luclin it's called supply and demand. If ya got luclin YOU have the supply, if you don't, then u got the demand. That's how economics work.

These go for about 25pp on Eci. If anyone is selling for more they are ripping people off. In a two hour session in DS peaks I got a total of 13 of these. All went to new monks outside of Freeport. It seems that alot of people are taking advantage of those without luclin. Shame shame.

Price Has Dropped
# Mar 17 2002 at 10:37 AM Rating: Default
The price for the PSU has dropped considerably (On Xev at least, but I suspect this is the case with other servers as well.) The reason is, of course, that the market is positively flooded with them. Yesterday I saw them going for 65pp, 100pp per pair in EC, and later in GFay they were going for 25pp each...
On the off chance that these were complete anomalies, I'm not adding them into the Pricing Data, but nevertheless the current "Average Price" of 300p is a far cry from what these go for now.

Hey Prizaril, do u really have extras for sell? I dont really have a weapon I'm level 9 and am on the Solusek Ro Server and I wanted to know if there was anyway I could by one from u?
good BL weapon

Have 2 of these on my level 18 BL and they rock for stats as well as damage. The best part is they are not lore so ya can use 2. BTW if you are on the Karana server and want to buy some of these I have about 10 of them so give Prizaril a tell in game.

There seems to be a bug where if Ulaks get dropped on the ground, they cannot be picked back up again. I lost two of these this way. Be aware.
RE: Warning
# Jul 26 2002 at 2:07 PM Rating: Default
That's Confirmed....DO NOT DROP THEM ON THE GROUND! I had about 6 of these from a Tribal exp binge, and dropped 2 on the ground to log on my monk and pick them up. At first I thought it was where I dropped them (in the INN on the floor near the EFP gate) so I decided I would hop up on the counter and drop them there (thinking perhaps the ground was buggy), I could not pick them up off the floor either. If your going to do a transfer to another character, make sure you give them to a friend, as dropping is definately bugged.

Happened to me also today. But I was madly clicking the ground trying to pick the thing up and the darn door kept opening instead. Petitioned anyway, not that that does anything. =/

No bug, anything you drop on the ground has a chance of poofing. If you want to pass items to alts, you had best find someone you trust.

This was not a case where something 'poofed'. It was still there, just no matter how I clicked on it, from different angles or anything, it would not be picked back up again. I watched it sit there and merrily rot away, furiously clicking. Your advice is sound, best to have someone help, but this is a bug which seems unique to the Ulak model objects.

Same thing happened to me, just could not pick it up. Also I dropped something near a vendor and he picked it up immediately, "saying this is a nice <item>".

RE: Warning
# Jan 30 2002 at 9:06 PM Rating: Default
Yes to the guy who said items have a chance to poof thats true but these ulaks are bugged in that you still see them on the ground but no mattter how many times you try to click on it they want pick up. I stood around clicking from every angle possible till mine rotted. I dropped 3 other items to see if it was just area but i could pick those up but not the ulaks which ruins my chance of passing items to my guy using the drop grab technique. They screwed us with money now this argggg.

same thing happend to me a while back. oh, and you CAN still drop twink 'em, just shove 'em in bag and then drop the bag, you can pick it up no problem.
great for me.

I am currently a lvl 15 barbarian beastlord and i love this weapon. i often do 19-21 damage with an average of 18 when im fighting yellows. i dont know bout monks but for the stats, this is a grat priced item as well. I just picked up another one for when i hit lvl 17. Oh and by the way i got both of mine for under 150pp on the xev server. So if your not an uber twinked Bl and want a good weapon get a pair of thease till you can manage to get the gold inlaid ones!
Later,

Great for BST
# Jan 10 2002 at 11:08 PM Rating: Default
The Str, Wis, HP and Mana make it an ideal BST HtH Weapon - Ratio of 3 is better than the 3.2 of the Sonic Wolfbane Claws. I have not figured out what the empty HtH damage ratio for a BST is but I cannot imagine it is as good as a Monk. These would be good for a non-twinked BST until 40. DP is listed as a 25 - 45 Level zone and I've read that these are fairly common drops. Any chance a soon to be 20 BST could pick up a couple by visiting the zone????
RE: Great for BST
# Feb 15 2002 at 5:50 PM Rating: Default
no, there is absolutely no chance that a lvl 20 bst could drop the mobs. as it seems you have a 35 warrior though, you could definitely take out those mobs in a group with him, then twink you bst. good luck to you.

Nice For Bst
# Jan 03 2002 at 7:29 PM Rating: Decent
I gave one of these to my level 2 cat BST. He went from doing 4-5 dmg to 18. I levelled him to 6 in an evening. I would say these are very nice weapons for low-level beastlords. I have done the first 4 parts of the claw quest, and this is still a much better weapon.
Undecided
# Jan 01 2002 at 10:36 PM Rating: Decent
Just got one of these today in a trade: 400pp, a grotesque mask, journeyman's pitacku (sp) and this ulak for two of my fighting batons. (Still not certain who got the better deal here.)

Been using the ulak for a few hours, mainly to bring up my H2H. The stats and low weight are certainly nice, and the ratio is better than my bare hand, but I beyond bringing up H2H, its not that great of a monk weapon. With a CoT in primary and this in secondary, I do a LOT less dmg than my usual FB/CoT combination.

Don't know what the beasties' H2H damage/delay are (heard their skill caps at 100?), but I think with the wisdom and mana, they would definately have more use for this than a monk.

bsts have a lower delay i am sure, with bare h2h, but there skill caps around 250. bsts it seems, were created to have h2h be there best melee skill, which makes sense as they are a mnk/shammy crossbread.

This is actually not a bad little item for a lower lvl Beast Lord..When I say lower lvl i mean one not Uber twinked..If I start a Beast Lord I might obtain one of these...Just cant decide what race to start...Leaning more towards Iksar for this one..well good hunting and safe journey to all.
RE: Not bad
# Feb 15 2002 at 5:59 PM Rating: Default
while iksars have perhaps the best starting stats for bsts (high wis and good all around melee skills), as mana pool size is much more important for bsts that for other melee caster combos, iksar pets are ugly

Revision
# Dec 20 2001 at 9:11 AM Rating: Decent
In addition to the +3 AC that was added; I could swear these also had a weapon bonus of 12.

The big question is, "How much should a weapon's damage/delay ratio be valued at in comparision with all the other stats on a weapon?"

And I've yet to see a decent figure on a 'real' damage to delay on any weapon; especially since they started doing bonus damage

RE: Revision

The damage bonus doesn't really affect base damage. It's a formula that factors in weapon type, level, and I think atk bonus.

Tribal gatherer
# Dec 13 2001 at 8:16 PM Rating: Decent
It's also a pretty common drop of the Tribal gatherers. 2-3 can drop in a couple of hours.

Hmm
# Dec 13 2001 at 1:13 PM Rating: Decent
These are very common drops in DP. The Tribals also drop Heavy Iron Ulak's that have lesser stats, but, they only sell to the merchants for 1cp with indifferent faction. Does anyone know if there is a quest with the Heavy Iron Ulak's? Seem worthless otherwise.
Picked up a pair tonight
# Dec 13 2001 at 3:17 AM Rating: Good
I had a pretty easy time getting a pair of these. They seem like nice weapons to equip my BST with. I found one on a Tribal Lookout. Several Lookouts spawn in fixed locations in the southeast part of the zone, by the big gate in the hillside. The second came off a Tribal Worker, in the same area. In both cases I was able to see them wielding the Ulak, it is a half moon shaped blade in their hand. The lookout was a melee only mob and the worker was a low level druid. Both were blue to my 45 Druid and went down easy, I estimate their hp to be 1300 to 1500.
