Got one of these in Veeshan Bazaar today for 100PP. The guy had like 20 of them to sell so either he has been camping the spawn or found them even cheaper somewhere else. It was better than my old Icetooth Pelt anyway so I figured what the hell.

Just spent 5 hours pulling the castle with my guild.. we got two of these cloaks, as well as some other good stuff.

All the generals without exception were even con to me, level 46, so their level doesnt seem to vary, but they are tough. Main tank had no trouble keeping aggro, and you dont need to snare them as they are slow to run away; they can catch you on a riposte with the 200dd proc through, so watch out for it.
Bought from a merchant!

I bought this from a merchant in Shadowhaven for 147 PP!

Nice upgrade from my cloak of the icebear. When I get a better back item, I will either put this on my wizzy or sell it cheap to my SK buddy.

The merchant does not regurlarly sell it. Someone must have sold it to a merchant (for a fraction of what I would have given him for it =)and then this fortunate fellow found it there.

My level 51 necro just got this nice little cloak after hunting vampires with my guild. And now, I'm stuck as to which cloak I should wear, this or my Kunzar Cloak: AC: +7 Wis: +2 Int: +2 Fire Resist: +10.

Now I know you're obviously saying, "Go with the Coterie General Cape, ya idiot!!" But lets look at the main difference. Even though the CGC gives better INT and AC points, the Kunzar Cloak gives +10 FR; and necros need all the resists they can get.

So what are all of your opinions on this one?

You neglected to mention the 40hp on the CGC, which is every bit as important to a necro as the 4int is. The more hp you have, the longer you can stay in lich.

As Parsons said, get the CGC (it's MUCH better than a Kunzar Cloak), and save the Kunzar Cloak for resist gear if you want to. Resist gear should be totally seperate from your day-to-day hunting gear.

My suggestion would be to wear the Cape for day to day soloing/grouping and save your Kunzar for raids where you need the resists...
lvl to get these?
# Dec 27 2001 at 3:29 AM Rating: Decent
On this item and the boots the lvl listed to obtain differs by 10 lvls. So is lvl 50 just a overkill group or solo?

Bring a group - fought the lower castle for 4 hours nonstop ( nice drops all around ) with almost two full groups of 51st to 56th peoples, could have spared one or two. Enchanter mandatory (!), as the Coterie Generals usually come in pairs and many wanderers. Watch out for the flurry, too !

Necro Item

The AC is pathetic for any self respecting SK. Necro's need int AND hps for liching. Many necro's including myself wear hooded black cloaks...for a necro this would be an upgrade to an HBC, while for an SK this would be a step down from the HBC due to lack of AC.
RE: Necro Item
# Dec 11 2001 at 2:49 PM Rating: Decent
I could easily see this on my enchanter. I agree that the HPs are good for liching on a necro, but Enchanters have very few hit points and can generate a lot of aggro. Most of my slots have mana and int items in them, very little gives both int and HP, this would be a welcome addition to my wardrobe. 40HP or less would have meant life instead of death in too many situations.

sorry man but im not sold. i myself have a better cloak, but not all SKs have a 10ac or better cloak. (i do assume you were tryin to sell yourself or your class on this drop, as you spew that gibberish) is rough to find good back items in Norrath and SKs don't always liek to take the time u necros do to camp the cloaked dhampyre as it is green by the time we can camp it reliably.

8 of 10 SKs would love this thing as i have seen many melee about 50ish with cloak of the icebear still. (which is great for cold-based raids and has chunk of HP) and think that many would liek this in it's place for day-to-day use.

I often play an Ogre SK and trust me I need all the int I can get. With the hps added by this cloak 2ac is a small price to pay for the int

The only Coterie Generals I've seen in Tenebrous Mountains were on the second floor of the old mauseleum, near the tunnel to the Grimling Forest. The Generals were all blue to my level 50 necromancer. This old mauseleum looks like a very tough place to break unless you're pretty high in level. Virtually impossible to go in to get one of these cloaks solo, unless you're extremely high in level with some extremely powerful gear, and an extremely powerful pet. I'll explain why. >=)

My necromancer was non-KOS to the Coterie to start; they were all dubious to him, while the good people of Katta scowled. The Coterie can all see through invisibility, camouflage, AND invis to undead. Also, the Coterie vampires tend to use Gather Shadows to make themselves invisible most of the time. There are a few named vampires in this Coterie fortress, only these have wings, and fly around on patrol. The winged vampires are level 50 spellcasters, and they are COMPLETELY IMMUNE to to changes in movement speed. The few times I've experienced melee with the Coterie vampires (once with an assassin in Katta, once with a legionnaire in Tenebrous) were quite scary, as the Coterie appear to have a 200 point direct-damage lifetap PROC! The Generals were on the second and third floors, so even getting to them is probably a rough fight.

If these cloaks sell, I would expect the cost to be very high, due to the sheer amount of work involved in getting to a General, let alone the drop rate on the item.

Keep in mind, as of this date (Tuesday, December 11, 2001), this information is pretty accurate, however it's still the first week after the release of Luclin, so I would expect numerous things to change in the future. Hopefully, one of those changes will be more quests from the vampires! I've only found one vampire that gives a quest, and that quest has you killing Katta legionnaires and centurions for damaged helms, which you turn in to the vampire for faction.

Actually you are mostly correct =) There is a quest I have been working on in Katta starting with Phenic Dionicas. One of the steps in this quest takes you out to Tenebrous to battle a named Vah Shir vampire. When you defeat him (he doesn't really die, justs drops to his knees invis) and follow through the dialogue afterwards he will despawn and 4 Cot generals will spawn in his place. They kinda took me and my 2 partners by surprise so we had to flee, although I pulled them away and was able to land a few snares so we might have been able to take em. Anyway, they might also have the same chance of dropping this cloak, without the risk of heading into the vamp hotel as I call it...

Good Luck,

PERFECT cloak for SK.

its pretty good for any hybrid, and int casters could also make good use of it. Although I think this would be best suited for a hybrid

Incorrect!

The Bard uses Int for their Mana calculation.

Not to mention that Bard hit points stink, so the +40 hp is very helpful.

Bards do not use WIS in their mana calculation. Plus, bards mana is not magical like casters, it is more musical, and is not effected by Clarity. So med'ing does not help mana Regen.

Bards do use int for mana calculation. What most people don't realise unless they play a high-level bard themselves, is that bards only have 2 songs that uses mana. One is Denon's Desperate Dirge, which is a totally useless 450'ish hp AE nuke for 800 mana. Personally, at level 55, my mana pool is 1200 mana, and since no mana regen songs/spells have any effects on bards whatsoever this means that I can sing this song about once an hour.

The second song that uses mana is Solon's Bewitching Bravura, the level 39 charm song. This is only usable on mobs of level 51 or less, and it only drains 20 mana for each application of the song... and since max duration of the charm is 18 seconds this doesn't drain much mana either.

Wis... i've never found that bards use wis for anything... tradeskills maybe.

Forgot to mention that bards' meditate skill is capped at 1 just to speed up memorization a little, it has no effect on mana regen.

#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 11 2001 at 3:25 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) he said hybrid, bards are not considered hybrids. Rather, they're own seperate class. So, this is the perfect cloak for an SK, its' got everything we want, str (inkie's need it bad) dex for procs and int for... well no **** what ints for and hp.

I would use this, and I am a mage, 4 int is the same as the Molten Cloak I am wearing now, but then i get 5 str and 40hp. great item!
RE: Perfect
# Dec 11 2001 at 3:23 AM Rating: Decent
The bards I see are elfs, so both the str 5 and the hitpoints would come in very handy.

I like to be different, so I started up a Vah Shir bard. Fun fun fun! :)

Not to mention the fact that for the past two weeks, any time you go into Shar Vahl, roughly 40% of everyone in the city is a damn beastlord.

That's why I made my beastlord an Iksar. Different. :)
