#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 18 2001 at 9:33 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Nice little poker. Im pretty happy with mine. Got it in EC for 3500pp. I decided to check it out in KC. "one of my fav hunting zones" As I zoned I seen a pally run right by me, with a 3/4 dead Drolvarg hot on his ***. I started whacking on it and it proc'd! I was like Whoaa.. next thing i knew the drolvarg turned into a wolf. "odd i thought?" Killed it and looted.. low and behold another Lup dagger. Is that luck or what?

I horsetraded for one of these with a very bored warrior who did not want to sit in EC and auction this all day, got mine at level 43 for about 7k in cash and trades. Procced the moment I hit 45, first round in first battle in fact, and I have been in fur ever since. This is my primary hand weapon, the ratio is better than a lammy, no stamina issues and insane damage, consistantly better than a wurmy, which is too slow and heavy for a ranger IMHO. Paired with a Jagged blade of Mourning in the offhand, I am running with about 1065 atk and quad for over 200 damage fairly often, probably averaging 80 or more per melee round against blues in OS and KC at 53. I will undoubtedly keep this weapon even after obtaining my epics, for the speed and atk bonus if for nothing else. Any ranger at 45 that can get their hands on one of these will significantly outdamage tanks 2 levels higher with a good offhand, and being able to outrun any mob doesn't hurt a ranger much either.

I am an untwinked 50 ranger. It is a looong as hell story, but I started off with a wurmy, a CSS, and a fbss. That combo rocked. I went LD looting my corpse, and relogged with no CSS...so I ventured to EC, to sell my fbss, and reclaim an offhand weap. Well, over the weekend I had about a dozen crazy deals...and I ended up with a 'lupine dagger in primary, and a Centi longsword in offhand; with no fbss.

Lupine dagger 9/18 4dex 4wis

Centi longsword 14/27 8str 8sta

My peircing skill isn't maxed out yet, though close...and so far this seems like a beauiful combo. Once I save up enuf, I am cashing in on another fbss...I am just afraid the taunt will be insane, so I am carrying my Wurmy in my back-pack. The wurmy with haste is a wonderful thing. It will bring a tear to your eye, when you rip chunks of flesh from your mob, over and over and over. Anyways, I think the Lupine dagger is an outstanding weapon, and I think I will hang on to it forever. Why get rid of it?

# Nov 19 2001 at 1:08 PM Rating: Decent
BTW it procs at 45.
I had a Wrum and this thing is out damaging it since lvl 40. That was before the Dmg Bonus. Now with that dmg bonus it is just plan said, "Awesome!"
The stam drain is not an issue for this compaired to the wurmy.
The taunt is a problem though, and when that happens I just swap hands with the Silken Whip in the primary or to the Swarmcaller.

9/18 beats the lamentation ratio. Weight .5, Great in the primary until we hit our skill caps ( not sure what that is off hand ). So stamina should not be waning in a long fight. Good dex and wis bonuses ( ranger needs these ). Proc is instantaneous ( when triggered ) saves mana when we finally get to a point when we can cast this spell. Plus it procs BEFORE we can cast the spell. Give me a 60% speed increase and 70 ATK bonus mana free any day. When/if you find you outgrow it, keep it around simply for that ( no need to keep casting wolf on yourself ). Procs consistently ( or on average to procs triggered in a fight ). Great weapon primary or secondary. Using Glowing Black sword in offhand, this in primary until my pierce gets up ( then trianing in 1 HB ). Once those are maxed, Silken whip of ensnaring in primary, this in secondary. WARNING this poker is UBER taunter. My skill in 1h pierce is in the mid 40's right now ( lev 22 ) and I still out taunt warriors using wurmslayer ( maxed with the 1h ). Summation: this weapon is phenomenal for many reasons 1.) damage ratio, 2.) good ranger stat buffs, 3.) Mana free greater wolf form before we can cast it. Normally, I try to be polite, and ask for other's points of view. Today, no flames please, if you disagree I must say you don't know what you're talking about, and can't grasp how to play a ranger.
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 29 2001 at 4:00 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Geese the scholors attacking thi guy are ********! he is just giving his honest opinion on things and a tip to use it better, and theyre attempting to find every flaw and inefficency with it and use it against him! thats total BS from where i see it, Hey scholars, get a ******* life and leave honest people alone, you blunt ********
#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 20 2001 at 6:13 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ok, this weap isn't all that great...it's only really any use if you have maxed your piercing, and are between like 45 and 50...if lower, it will not proc, making it less useful...and higher, well rangers piercing caps at 180, and 1hs is something like 230...do the math. This weap is crap...even at lv 36, my Lammy gives me higher atk, cuase it adds 6 str, cancelling out the one more delay, and then some.

Ok, to Mr. Ick (anon) up there, a couple of things...

1.) If rangers piercing caps at 180 (so you say) how come i'm a 52 ranger with 204 in Pierce?

2.) Every ranger i've ever known has had a serious issue with having enough wisdom, especially half-elves, 4wis on Lup, 0wis on lammy.

3.) "Lammy gives you higher attack" huh? 6str = 6atk at most levels (not sure on higher than 52) GWF (aka the proc) is faster than sow running speed, +60ish ATK, the lammy is NOT more atk.

Lammy is a good weapon, not doubt about that, but it is more of a warrior weapon, i used one up til 52, and just traded it for my Lupine. It may have lowered my strength down to 172 from 178, but it finally raised my wisdom over 100, which is a first for me =)

Just a little side note, it procs like crazy with 125 dex, makes a great weapon to use against mobs that dispell, like TT's in fear or Chromodrak's in Skyfire.

Let me see if I understand your argument correctly: a weapon with a ratio of 2 is crap, for characters below 45, because the proc won't work? .5 stone weight, which means no worries about draining stamina, and its piercing, so you get to use two skills at once, with a 1hs in primary. Maybe its just me, but I see a lot of level 36's without lammys, who would be thrilled to get this. Besides, once you're higher level, you can just swap it in til it procs, and swap back to a slashing weapon once you get your wolf form.

Rangers should have maxed piercing, period. And for that matter, 1HS, 2HS, and 1HB with 2HB as an option. Also, I'd like to see how the piercing cap for Rangers is 180 when I've had mine at 200 since level 39. Lastly, if you only suggest using this dagger between levels 45 and 50, what would you suggest after level 50? Did you forget about something called a damage bonus? Did you forget that the Ranger damage table after level 50 has been raised to be more comparable to that of a Warrior, which will benefit greatly from a faster weapon (ie more damage from a Lupine Dagger than a Wurmslayer)? And is it lost on you the use of a weapon that basically procs 60% walk/run speed increase with a 70 or so boost in ATK, 11 levels before Rangers actually get the spell? At level 36 I might not expect you to look as far as level 51, but I guarantee if you're still using your Wurmslayer (I'm guessing) and Lamentation at level 51 I'm going to outdamage you 9 times out of 10 over the course of a fight.

Knew when I was below lev 40 I was gonna camp El Capitan and get one. The other night around 3 A.M. we camped DT for less than an hour and captain got pulled (he's tough btw with lots of HP's). There was another ranger in our group, he rolled first and it was an 86. I practically conceded...then I rolled a 98. I think I woke the neighbors up and they're 200 yds away.

I had wolf form already on, the dagger proced and it said it wouldn't take effect. But some posts say that they stack...? Doh my attack actually went down 600 pts cause my piercing skill sux.

The reason why this isn't good for a rogue is simple... it's RANGER ONLY.

Otherwise i'm sure they'd like it.

Ok people. My ranger has one. It owns! The new patch allows you to stack wolf forms. I go into battle with normal wolf form and share wolf form if im grouped, with str buffs etc. my atk reaches oh about 1058. Im suprised Verant let us rangers have a weapon like that you know how they treat the rangers.

To answer eveybodys questions about this dagger yes it will overite snare but not regular wolf form yes it will stack with firfist or strength of nature but cannont stack with hoth as strength of nature overwrites firefist no it doesn't add ultra vision it add infravision

btw you will know if the doggy captain has because he will turn into a wolf

Is that English? Anybody else have trouble deciphering this gibberish?
I wish it had at least a bit of punctuation. Correct spelling is nice too but not completely necessary.
Thanks.

acctually GWF cancels sow, so it's very nice during battle
Sigh
# Apr 01 2001 at 1:04 PM Rating: Default
Okay how on earth is this a good rogue weapon?
Are you all just jealous because rangers are a piercing class too? And from my experience sow is overwritten by the wolf form spells. Also at least regular wolf form stacks with firefist (and swift like wind) but then again I was mezzed by my enchanter during a fight which I didn't think was supposed to happen either...
Proc?
# Mar 23 2001 at 6:02 AM Rating: Decent
Does the proc work on indoor dungeons? It was my understanding that wolf form type spells don't work indoors at all. Just a question. Thanks!
RE: Proc?
# Mar 27 2001 at 8:14 AM Rating: Default
No this doesnt proc in indoor type settings it is just like the spell. It procs for my ranger alot 130 dex if i remember right i can fight all night long and never worry about sow dont know the proc lvl got mine at 47 and it worked for me then. HEHE just dont make the mistake i did the dragon was wandering around kanors no biggie i was indeferent to her got jumped by some spider and blade proc'd wolf form ....loading please wait...
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 17 2001 at 10:29 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) why would u b fighting anything in fv anyway

SOW vs GWF
# Mar 02 2001 at 8:11 AM Rating: Decent
When this dagger proc's (and it does as often as a normal proc), the GWF effect is instant, it OVERRIDES SoW but not basic wolfform, and last's for a very long time (ive not had GWF run out - either the dagger has proced again or I zone/log)

Btw, how would this be better for a rogue, just cos its a dagger with a nice delay?, take a look at a few of the other ROGUE only weapons!
bonk
# Feb 18 2001 at 11:29 PM Rating: Default
rangers get sow at 39
GWF gives a big bonus to ATK and includes sow, so any non-idiot would keep GWF on at all times, mana free with this (megataunting) poker
