Floating Dagger

This is still happening. Just last night took one down with dagger on his shoulder. Sure enough had the Netherbian Unguis on him. Povar server.

I bought one for a single Plat from an NPC merchant in Qeynos. A wonderful find for my level 14 untwinked Rogue! :) I can now backstab for 48 and as it is magic it works on Will-o-Wisps too.

What's funny is how you can tell if the Netherbian Swarmcaller you're looking at will drop one of these. It appears as a little tiny dagger hovering over the creature's shoulder! I was fighting one the other day and was looking at this thing going, "What the f**k is that?" But when I looted the poor creature's corpse, I found a Netherbian Unguis. I have yet to find a second one to prove that this is a consistent phenomenon, but I'm reasonably sure you'll be able to look at the Swarmcaller and determine whether or not he will drop the Unguis. I wonder if this was by design, ala "undocumented feature?" Heh.

I have also seen the "floating dagger" effect of assorted Drachnids in the dreadlands, when you see a dagger floating above a drachnid that means the have a drachnid leg tip, not a bad weap, but there so common I just loot and sell. There also good for a monk to loot cuz they have 0.0 weight.
any way... This floating dagger effect occurs throught the game, some mobs hand positions will simply not bue fitted int he right place to be holding a weap and since they rarely are seen holding one (Nethrian swarm callers only rare drop the ugius, and drachnids uncommon the leg tip) it is not realy necisary to change, and it's alot easier (shows how lazy Varent realy is)

I've seen the floating dagger effect when the swarmcaller died, too, so it definitely happens. I've never seen a damage bonus when right clicking on this weapon, though. Was it nerfed?

I've killed 3 or 4 Netherbian Swarmcallers in the past few days and haven't seen one (but he drops about 3pp/kill now).

When Luclin launched it was a 100% drop, like the Netherbian Chitin.
Not bad

I picked one up off the Swarm Caller. Conned Light blue to me at lvl 37. Had him no problem if it werent for the 5 other light blue adds that came out of nowhere. I finished everything off with a half bub of health left and looted this off him. Not bad for off hand.

Damage bonus is dpendent on your level

for all 1 hand weapons it will be your level minus 25 divided by 3.
so at 28 you'll get a damage bonus of one and every 3 levels it will go up by 1.

2 hand weapons are a different formula dependent on the delay of the weapon with slow ones being higher damage bonuses.

also you only get dmg. bonus on your main hand which is why faster weapons are better in your main hand so you get the bonus as much as possible.

all this from an enchanter :)
class specific?

I was wondering if the damage bonus applies to all classes or just melee classes? would my rogue get a damage bonus at level 28?

Thanks a lot for the information on the damage bonus; i've seen a lot of people say "you get teh damage bonus 'cause o' yer level" but you're the first one to actually explain when/how it comes into play. Thanks

Thank you for that helpful information. This would explain why I first noticed the bonus on my weapons at level 28, since (28-25)/3=1

If this formula is constant, we should see increasing bonus damage at levels 28, 31, 34, 37, 40, 43, 46, 49, 52, 55, and 58.

Damage Bonus?

Does this weapon have the damage bonus listed in the picture above?
RE: Damage Bonus?
# Mar 12 2002 at 8:37 AM Rating: Default
Damage Bonus is 1, not 10 as shown here...Picked one up last night from a Netherbain Warrior, he was dark blue to my 27 Ranger. did a PC on Torv, in the tunnel and was told by several that the price was around 20-25pp as its a common drop. A Damn nice weapon for the price. Im using a SSOM and a War claw, so Im selling it...Gotta get a Ry'gor BP )
RE: Damage Bonus?
# Feb 28 2002 at 5:23 PM Rating: Decent
There's no damage bonus on this weapon. Damage bonuses are for classes, and if you're lucky enough to get one, it will put it on the Item Stats picture. This is 8/25 only. We can dream though, 10 Dmg bonus would rock my world.

My 25 warrior picked it up and gave it to my 11 half elf bard to work on piercing skills. Pokes holes for up to 17-18 at that level and with Jonathans Whistling Warsong for haste hits pretty often. Not bad to use to be nice to a younger player if you don't want to sell it. Oh, and it just looks like a run of the mill dagger when equipped.

Hmm.. 250pp seems too high, this is a fairly common drop. My guess is it's so new to the auction market, and is a fairly nice piercer. I wouldn't pay more than 150pp though knowing how easy they are to get.

Just traded one for a BALS today cause I figured I can just go back with my druid and get another =P . Glimmering Axe and a BALS is my combo now, and I keep aggro very well. Need to work on my piercing though, so it's off to Neth again...

Nice player let me loot
# Jan 21 2002 at 7:25 PM Rating: Decent
I agree since they are lore why so expensive. A nice player on ECI just shouted that one was on the body of the Stormcaller and I ran by and looted it. Good off hand ratio for my 22 level BST.
why so expensive?
# Jan 12 2002 at 6:07 PM Rating: Decent
I'm not sure why the price is so expensive. I was in a group and we had to let a couple rot because they're lore.

Just head up to netherbian liar and see if any groups are hunting the netherbians.

Found mine on Shadow Haven merchant
# Jan 06 2002 at 12:01 AM Rating: Excellent
As stated in the subject, picked mine up off a Shadow Haven merchant while passing through for a mere 1pp. Very nice weapon, my level 7 rogue can take down yellows with ease with this, my thanks to whomever it was on Torvonnilous that sold it into a store.

I bought this weapon in Iceclad for 50pp. Either that guy had no idea of the worth of this, or he just wanted to get rid of it. I love it and use it whenever I wanna work on my piercing skill, dueled with a walrus tooth.
this weapon has a damage bonus

I've got this weapon for my 21 rogue and my 30 SK.
The SK sees a damage bonus of 1 for this weapon, a
41 SK sees a damage bonus of 5. I need to check with some high level warriors and rogues to see if
this is an SK only property or if everybody sees that.

Oops. =\ Anyway, got one my first day there, which was the day after release. Dropped off a Netherbian Swarmcaller, light blue to me at 35. Kinda weak for its level, melee wise, but high in the HP department. =\ Took my whole mana bar to drop, and any normal light blue I can drop with half that.
Was the first thing I killed in Luclin too. =)
