just wondering

Right now i have 2 lammy's. i am a ranger, just wondering why someone would think that this weapon isn't better for me than a lammy better dmg/dly with a bonus of wis

Very nice ranger off hander. After 46 lost the wurm, moved lammy to prim hand. This is exactly the type of weapon he needs preepic.
Bane DMG

I *believe* the way Bane DMG works is that it is added to the total damage, just as the Dmg Bonus is. So vs. undead this weapon would not be 13/24, it would be 12x2+1+1. Don't hold me to it.

Where does the 12 x 2 + 1 + 1 equation come from? I'm not sure how the damage you deal is calculated... so I'm wndering how it works out.

On another note, this is a really nice weapon for everyone who can use it... but I think it's best suited to Paladins, Rangers and Druids... BUT... that's not to say it's not good for anyone else.

I don't know all the intricacies of exactly how dmg is dealt myself, but I do know that weapon dmg is the number (in this case 12) multiplied x2 +1 (not including Dmg Bonus or any bonus from higher delay weapons). So if Bane DMG is as I thought, it would be 12x2 +1 +1 vs. Undead.

Clearly druids have use for this; at this level, though, their sub-epic elaborate scimitar is competitive to say the least, and there are tons of good other options for +wis primary-hand items.

The +11 bonus is irrelevant; you would get the same bonus no matter what 1hs you put in your hand, and the 11 is added to whatever successful strike you score with the 12/24 bit of the weapon.

All that aside, the AC/wis/hp combo is excellent for paladins and rangers in particular, although the AC makes it an appealing weapon for all melees. From a roleplaying perspective it would fit well into a paladin's hands in a good undead dungeon.

Over time this sword will probably get day-to-day use from quite a few rangers, a few other scattered melees, and then MANY people will have one sitting in the bank or a bag for the occasional trip to Chardok, Sebilis 4-room, or other areas widely populated by undead, where the sword becomes a very noteworthy 13/24 blade.

Most druids will not have the Elaborate Scimitar "pre-epic", as it requires the VS stone and a jade reaver, the two biggest bottlenecks in the quest.

The damage/delay is not better than the warrior epic. The warrior epic is 14/24, this is 12/24. The "Dmg Bonus: 11" refers to the user's innate damage bonus; the same player would have the same bonus of 11 on the warrior epic.

Even against Undead, it's only 13/24. And the Wis does absolutely nothing for you.

You'd be far better off with a Lammy, and at 51st level, you should be able to afford one. Let this scimitar go to some deserving Druid, and amuse yourself with one of the many superior warrior-usable weapons.

And if you're still setting your sights on the warrior epic--believe me, there are far better weapons out there available for far less effort than the warrior epic (me, I use a Frostreaver).

Actually, its not a 13/24 weapon against undead.

Thats a misconception.
The damage per second _of the weapon_ is (24+damage bonuses)/24.

Remember when Warriors would crit and it would say something like:
"Smashar lands a critical hit (300)"
"Smashar hits some_orc for 311"

The 11 was the damage bonus.

So damage bonuses are kind of crappy in some context, however, they raise your minimum damage per hit, giving you a niver average, which is why you likely won't see a 12/24 +10 fire dmg

Are you totaly sure that, Bane DMG, Damage Bonus and Fire DMG would all be the same thing?
Me, Im thinking that perhaps the Band DMG is actually added to the damage of the weapon before damage is calculated, but that's just speculation.

Seems wierd though that it would just be an additional damage bonus since that would hardly have a big effect on the damage output in the end.
Well, it would on a weapon with say 15-20 delay, but since the bane damage one has seen on two haded weapons have been just as big as that on one handed it would mostly benifit one haded weapons. The reason I think this is wierd is because in the recent patches all has been done by verant to increase the effectiveness of two handed weapons, so adding something new now that offsets the balance in favor of one handed weapons is backwards.

well, just my two copperfull of rantings...

23/24? I can only assume you're referring to the damage bonus + DMG.

1. That's not how damage bonuses work.
2. Damage bonus is not item specific, it's level specific.
3. Druids don't get damage bonuses.

That said, still very very nice weapon for a druid.
