Between the Stone Idol and Shrouded Medallion they add +30 MR, which is huge. I have been paying more attention to resists lately as I want to start doing raids in places like ToV. I can get to 160 MR w/o buffs fairly easy with gear like this. Definately get these 2 items if you can while in ME. One drops from the Xi Vius the other drops from Xin Thall Centiens.

Your wrong its 15 MR i looted it last night 11/10/02.Easily soloable with Dire Charm and a hasted Goronga pet.Slowed easy too without Tash.So dont post unless you loot it.People here just seem to read about drops and never go out and get them like this guy.Tard

I am level 56 no epic necro and solo these guys without a pet even the yellow ones.
Fight with dots and plenty of taps lasts no more than 5 minutes.
Pull 2 and your hooped though.

Thats a load of crap pal I am a level 56 no epic necro and what you suggest cant be done.
Explain how it is that with out a pet you avoid these guys casting on you??
Even with Virtue 3 casts and i am toast.
I solo them as well I charm a reanimated drudge or better yet a xi xaui cleric. The drudge ends up dyin but takes the xin thalls mana and allows me to be in casting range without getting nuked.
The xi xaui cleric can take on 2 of them and survive the fight.
I just love the charmed xi xaui.
I know what I am doing when it comes to mobs. The suggestion that you can solo these without a pet is laughable, You cant even solo these with your own level 56 pet with augmentation. You need to charm a mob.

We were pulling these guys to the Vex Thal zone line..
Dropped from Xin Thall Centurion which is a lvl 57 Sk mob..expect a long fight, this guy had alot of HP's and AC. He popped in the room right before the Vex Thal zoneline, the one with the big rock in it. Group consisted of(to best I remember): 60Pally, 60Mage,56Cleric,56 Druid?, and some lamo 53war. Hope this helps!

Dropped for us too Xin Thall Centurion lvl 58 for us. The one that was guarding Umbral plains zone. Killed him 3 times, only dropped this the first time, the other times only dropped research.

actually yer prolly thinking of the students homework, which is still a good peice of gear at the level range you can get it which is about 35ish. find it very useful till around the mid/high 50s when you get can the stone idol.

Nope, he's probably thinking about the teacher's Syllabus, which has +3 wis and Int, plus some mana and saves. Drops from the same Mob, the angry librarian, but is her rare drop. Equippable by int casters, clerics and shammies. Nice thing about the teachers syllabus and the student homwork is they aren't no drop, so they can be passed down or sold. And of course, thats why this will have no effect on the price of the Teacher's Syllabus at all, since this can't be bought, and anyone high enough to get this would probably already have one or something better.
Heheh, a Scholar and a Mage duking it out for who's right. Fairly amusing.... Anyways, I have to point out that both the Student's Homework and a Teacher's Syllabus are decent and compatable range items. Here are the stats:
Teacher's Syllabus +3 Wis +3 Int +20 vsPos +20 Mana
Student's Homework +3 Int +10 vsMg +15 Mana
As you can see, it's conceivable that the Homework could be preferred over the Syllabus due to the Save vsMagic +10.

I'd drop my OPT in a heartbeat for this. The lost wisdom isn't nearly as important as having wisdom and +15 MR in your RANGE slot. Also that Ceremonial Stick of Smudging I saw drop looked nice, but 15 MR on any one item is tough to get. Too bad all these things are no drop and I can't just sit in the Bazaar and buy them :)
