This item (Shaded Shield) just dropped for me from a Rygan Anisher in Akheva Ruins.

The shield was visibly equipped on the mob before I attacked it. (The worn graphic is that of a pulsing white light, which is vaguely in the form of an oval shield when the pulse is at its greatest peak.)

Had it drop yesterday from a Xi Vius in ME. Not a bad piece of resist gear for the price and ease of attaining.

ok.. the one question that no one has been asking.. but i think is rather important.. what does it LOOK like when equipped? if it's not cooler lookin than ornate rune shield it doesn't have a chance...

Looks just like a crystal webshield when equipped. wish it had a nifty updated luclin look, or at least make it a *black* pulsing shield thing (see shaded=dark shield?) but hey; i like the resists on it regardless.

Shaded Shield Story
# Jan 30 2002 at 8:29 PM Rating: Decent
Nope, this is not a post where I tell you this thing is a piece of junk or the greatest thing in the world. Just a quick story of a bright day in the life of a lower level char. There I was practicing my jewelry skill - burning threw the cash and BINGO - I make a silver ruby veil-my first. So I immediatley start trying to auction it. Some guy offers to trade for this shield. Luclin was just out for a few days so I am REALLY worried about being scammed on this. I check it out and the stats look decent I make the trade. Gee....being an ENC I sortta want to keep it but I sure could get back some of my training money...hmmmm.

abt the soft cap
# Jan 10 2002 at 7:45 AM Rating: Decent
well their was aptch which stated "post 200 int/wis wiill now give much more mana thatn it used to"

talking to a GM , all i ot out of him was that now after that change .... the post 200int gives half as much mana as the 1-200 range .... after calculations thru various mana calculators and in game ... at lvl 55 i found me pre 200 int to be giving me around 10 mana (thats the one from my base int to 200, base int gives more) .... so according to that now at level 55 post 200int gives me 5 mana per int point

hope it helps someone.

Even with the new cap on INT and WIS....the Sarnak Battle Shield is still my pick over this with the SBS stats : 25 AC +5 Str +5 Sta +10 vsMg +10 vsFire +10 vsCold +40 HP
This new shield prolly wont be as popular as the SBS IMO.

Just you read about the item?
SBS is NON INT CASTER...this shield is INT CASTER

You become better at reading! (1)
crap piece
# Dec 08 2001 at 11:26 AM Rating: Default
With Kunark available for over a year now the resists on this piece are rather bad compared to the ornate rune shield from CoM which every int-caster could get rather easily. This is definetely not a piece for the 50+ crew ...
# Dec 07 2001 at 7:03 PM Rating: Decent
good.. but not great. even though a high level with maxxed int would use this.. they would probably rather use something with +hp and +mana. but the saves aren't too bad, same w/ ac. moderate item, i would say. will be worth a few 1000pp in a few months maybe, when people start farming =)
Not bad at all
# Dec 07 2001 at 5:51 PM Rating: Decent
For those classes who are over 200int, and really dont need anymore, the AC and str is really great (for those farming classes =P). And the low weight, saves, VERY high ac for a caster item, all make it worth it.

200int isn't a soft cap any more

Things change, ...but perceptions, and the 'old lessons you have learned', invariably lag behind. 6 months from now, there will *still* probably be someone posting on these boards, "Well, this would be okay if you already have 200 Int..." Just takes time to re-learn what you've already learned I guess, when they change the rules on ya.

Since when isn't 200 a soft cap? Did VI post this change somewhere? I've recently (within the last 6 weeks) tested the difference between 200 Int and 240 Int and found it to be negligible. Any info on any change would be appreciated.

if you don't have SoL you're cap is still 200..
RE: Not bad at all
# Jan 08 2002 at 8:48 PM Rating: Decent
hummm from six weeks prior you your post the soft cap was still intact. currently (since the realease of SoL and hence this item becoming avalible) there is no-longer a cap on int/wis.

Not really sure why we are debating this here cause this item doesnt have int or wis or mana :p

You asked so I thought I would follow up to your question :)
