Paladins....

I just lost the roll on this belt to a Warrior. Now, I realize that a Warrior can use the STR and the AC, but the WIS is aboslutely worthless. My feeling is that if you have a Paladin in the group, this is almost certainly a Ranger/paladin/Beastlord item. Am I ranting because I lost the roll (for the 8th time I might add on this item,) yes. But Warriors should defer taking this item to the classes that can really use the stats- ALL the stats. After all, this is nodrop- there are other better items for Warriors and it'll be destroyed by them once a higher AC is found. But a Paladin or similar hybrid might sport this great belt for the life of the character. I'm curious to see what you all think about that.
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 26 2002 at 2:22 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Monk, monk, monk, monk, thats right, another monk got the "warrior" gear, i didn't even have to roll for it either, hahahahahahaha, p.s., warriors suck

I see both sides..Yes this is better suited for a pally then maybe a warrior..And yes there are better belts but they are in places where you have to be in a Uber guild to obtain..Not all warriors will have the chance to get the better belts..I has a cleric has lost similiar rolls that I thought I could have used more..But we also have some nice stuff out there..What you should do is lead the group and claim the item ahead of time..If all in group agrees then the belt is yours :o) well good hunting and safe journey to all :o)

I agree with you. Only prob is, as long as WAR is one of the classes that can use, and as long as a WAR was in the group fighting for it, good luck getting the WAR to see your reasoning. If there's not a better WAR belt out there somewhere, I'll eat my car. Frost, that's not a PAL crying, that's someone realizing that the WARs will cry when this very simple logical argument is presented to them. Good luck to the hybrids on this one!

maybe I'm just lucky, or maybe you folks complaining about warriors are unlucky, but I have never met a warrior who whinges or cries about any loot. I know I certainly haven't done so - and never will.

IF I ever get a shot at one of these, I would like to rolll for it, because I doubt I'll ever get a shot at a better belt

Better get out the motor oil, it'll make eating your car a little easier. This is perhaps the best belt item a warrior can get outside of a guild raid, and even then the chances of getting something better are slim. If I were a hybrid I would just be happy as hell that this item is so easy to get. I've heard of at least 2 of these rotting in the zone after groups had shouted out for someone to come loot it.
Great item for all who can use. I've got it, I'm using it, I like it, I doubt I'll find anything to replace it for a long, long time.

You people are moronic. I will aggree that this is a nice pally/ranger, etc belt, but this is ALSO one of the NICEST WAR belts anywhere out there, and definitely the nicest one that is possible to obtain at this level. Warriors have just as much right to roll on it as anyone else.
You find me a better belt than this that I can go get as easily, and I'LL eat your hat.

In that case, you should try to see which class would get the most from this Belt.

Warriors need AC and the Strength. And don't tell me they need Wis for tradeskills. Tradeskills aren't on the raids.

Paladins, Beastlords and Rangers need the AC, the Strength AND the Wis.

Hope you get it. I understand it is a great Warrior belt and the easiest one to obtain at these levels BUT the Paladins, Rangers and Beastlords would get the most from it.

We had a 2 groups near right ridge assist'n one others pulls. 2 of these belts droped. The first one "chain, cloth" wearers rolled, I won. I inspected our Guild leaders equip and felt really bad cause I had a better belt, low and behold 2 pulls later another droped, and he won it. I felt bad that the clerics cant wear such a wonderful belt. Now I can retire my old fathfull Thick banded belt. plus the 15 wis is also nice for a ranger )

Picked this up tonite at dome to Akheva. We were pullin to zoneline and it dropped from one of the centiens there. Thanks to all who helped in group, it was a great time for all. Im a barbarian warrior and I will use this belt prob til I retire him, and then he'll still be wearin it! AC is great and the +15 strength lets me take stuff off in other places to help with resists. Oh yeah and the +15 wis will help me with trade skills heh , I'm gonna take up tailoring now.

As said before, the wis factor is good for pallys and other wis casting melee hybrids.
The AC and Str are of value to the straight melees. The wis is of value to straight melees only if it exceeds INT stat for trade skill purposes.

Just wanted to point out that you missed one other class that would kill (hehehe) for this belt, and that'd be beastlords. AC, Str, and Wis is right up our alley. The only thing that would be better is if it weighed a little less.
RE: ?????
# Feb 26 2002 at 5:07 PM Rating: Decent
Beastlords don't have the weight restriction of monks and are limited to leather, so they're arguably THE best class for this. Of course, it greatly benefits any of these classes.

Hello Everyone...
I'd just like to say that I've seen 3 of these drop in the past 2 days. I'm a lvl 48 bard on the Bristlebane Server. I won this nice belt on the second occassion it dropped. This drops off of the XIN THALL CENTIENS that spawn in the temple at the Akheva zone. The best place to camp is right at the zone line. Not only will you get the majority of the Xin Thall but you will also have the benefit of getting the umbrous toilers who drop a variety of centi weapons. Be careful as these Xin Thall's can range from lvl 53 to 58 from what I've seen so far. G'luck and if you wonder how a lvl 48 bard has one of these... its amazing how much peeps want mana song LOL :P G'luck

Can't really say more than that, cept I can't wait to get up a few more levels to get this on my warrior! That dang mithril plated girth keeps eluding me, can't get into tbb camp ever, and its gonna be a while for thurg quest armor still. OF COURSE I will defer looting this to the pallies and rangers in any group I am in. They need the wisdom much more than a warrior. But, if they decide to throw it open to rolling on it, I'll roll! (And no, i didn't forget beastlords, it just there aren't any high enough to help get this yet, and unless i'm in a group with the stated purpose of killing things to twink a baby BL, they ain't a gonna get it!) SO, let the pallies and rangers have first pick, and if they don't want it, its fair game for everyone else.

This item, when looting, should be deferred to Rangers, Paladins and Beastlords. They can use ALL the stats to best advantage. Going first to a Warrior is idiocy, unless the other classes defer to him/her. Need before greed will equip your guild efficiently, especially with these NODROP items. This item is a common drop and if you want it that bad, Mr. Warrior you will get one sooner or later, AFTER those that can use it best.
RE: WOW
# Dec 10 2001 at 1:54 PM Rating: Decent
Well said, it's always nice to see fellow EQers who follow the rule of "need before greed". I can't tell you how irritating it is to lose out on a rare item that you're the only one in the group capable of using--so someone who can't use it can sell it. I also follow the policy of not rolling on any items after winning one, until all group members have a special loot.

What are you talking about? this is no-drop, so nobody's gonna sell it, and this goes first to a WARRIOR. AC IS KING. And rangers? who cares about the ranger? I'm sorry but the ranger can have 1600 ac unbuffed and they're still gonna die ;)
RE: WOW
# Jan 07 2002 at 2:56 PM Rating: Excellent
Yes, the 1600AC ranger will still not tank as well as a same-level warrior that is naked with only weapons. Why? Because the ability to tank comes from the ability to AVOID hits and warriors have a much higher defensive skill than rangers and block/parry/riposte a LOT. Rangers have been improved defensively with the recent patches but still are way short of a warriors defensive skill.

What does this have to do with anything? Would I still want to play a warrior over my ranger? No! Playing a warrior is the most mindless class you can choose in EQ. And most of the time when my ranger dies it's because the idiot warrior hit auto-attack and went AFK or wasn't taunting as he should have.

RE: WOW
# Apr 02 2002 at 4:19 AM Rating: Decent
lol 1600ac ranger? what are you smokin? anyway, the reason a same level warrior out tanks a ranger has much more to do with HP then AC. CHeal is the greatest spell in the game because it heals more hp then any pc would ever have in one shot. IE, clerics heal more HP for their mana, and have to heal less often. Thus, warriors having much more HP than your typical ranger of the same lvl, they make better tanks for heavy hitting mobs. However, this is not to say rangers cannot tank in your typical EXP group, I have been puller and main tank in many exp groups, even in places like OS, ME and Velks. As for a naked, unbuffed warrior being a better tank than a fully equiped/buffed ranger? hah, yea right.

RE: WOW

Most base 1600 Rangers will outlive any Warrior of their same level. Why? Because the warrior is gonna play main tank through the whole battle, which means during most long battles when the CLR/DRU are on Empty, You are Dead. Meanwhile, the ranger had had little to no damage because he has been Jolting or Cinder Jolting the mob onto YOU, forwarding all his harm to you and the whole time dishing damage both melee/DoT/ and DD Spells. And during most long camps, druids relax on casting group sow after the first half hour, but you can bet yer sweet **** that Ranger has been self sow'ing..lol. With the increases granted them since Velious release, Rangers have come a long way in showing their value to a group or even when partnering. Mind you, this is no slam to Warriors who make the best tanks.. Rangers should NOT tank..this is just a post reminding you that each class has it's place in a well defined group and blatantly spouting that 'Rangers are Bleeders" is not only no longer the truth, it shows you're missing the concept of how others play thier classes. Enough said,

My Word! I have never seen it put so well into words before, Asatrumi! I agree wholeheartedly with what you say in defense of Rangers and again stressing the fact that EQ is not a class superior warground. It is indeed a group effort and as soon as everyone quits blowing all their efforts arguing about what "class" is best and puts some effort into trying to learn how to be a more effective group member, then and only then will you become enlightened and know the true ways of power.

If you ignore the 15wis, the 15str and 20ac makes it quite a deal better than a tbb, the relitivly low weight may not be the straw the broke the monk's back (so to speak), anyway, nice for anyone who gets it, all the classes can use 15str 20ac and the wis helps you fail less on trade skills, so go you =P

Hmm, as a Paladin, I'd really love to get one of these. I was just tellin my guild how I'd like to stock up on wis items a little bit so that I have better castability...as well as when I solo I'd last longer before I had downtime. I didnt think that I'd find an item like this that would become my main item. Wow. I use cloak of flames, so it wouldnt impeed my haste...and I only use spider belt right now. I've been rather ignorant as to the importance of my casting, so my wis sits at a sad sad 123 atm, and I'm almost in full SS / Thurg. Heh hold the laughter please, I'm only a human =p. Anyway, between this...Idol of the Fallen, and 3 points into wisdom...I can go from 123 to 158...not a bad start if you ask me =)~

Got one of these last night in Maiden's Eye, in the NE corner. Unfortunately, there weren't any PAL or RNG that could have used the belt more than me... but it'll still be a good belt once I get a haste cloak instead of an RBB.

Anyways, this dropped off of one of the robbed mobs: Xi Vius or such. We held the area with one group of 55-60s. If you want to camp in this area, however, you have to go to one of the corners. Behind the house in NE by the tree is a good spot. If you are out in the roam path AT ALL, you'll get more adds than you can handle.
