The slow on this makes a difference for my lvl 97 rogue with j5 healer merc on reactive in shards landing killing snakes. Without this the healer can't keep up. When this is partially resisted and slows the snakes I haven't died yet. Pretty cool that it's still useful.
After a few weeks of trying to get the Locustlure it finally dropped for me today January 31, 2011 ! Here is what i know about the camp...
"skeletal scryer" drops the Locustlure. If he has it, he will be holding it. It looks like a regular piercing weapon. If you see him holding a pitchfork-looking weapon that means he has the Jarsath Trident on him instead, not the Locustlure :(
I focused on the rooms past the door in the right courtyard, and the moat, and sometimes down under the castle, these are the places that I found the most skeletal scryer pops.
If you go to the right courtyard, you will see a door on the far wall. After passing thru that door I would clear the rooms in front of me ( that's where I finally got the Locustlure to drop ), and then go up the stairs and clear the 4 mobs that pop up there (skeletal scryer actually popped the most up there), then I would go back to the courtyard and jump in the moat and kill the mobs down there because I had seen "skeletal scryer" pop down there several times.
I camped the area, on and off, for about a week. A few hours each time, never more than a couple hours at a time. I killed roughly 40 skeletal scryers before the Locustlure dropped, it seems to be just a matter of time/numbers to get it. It WILL drop :) Just don't expect to get it in 1 session.
The mobs repop at about 30 minutes so it's a good camp for doing house chores to.
Audio Triggers proved quite useful in letting me know when mobs where popping and, more importantly, when skeletal scryers where up since they like to cast spells so often :)
I used my 70 Mage to clear the rooms and moat. The skeletal scryer dropped Jarsath Scale Gauntlets about 30 times, Jarsath Trident 3 times, Deepwater Gauntlets 3-4 times, and of course my Locustlure 1 time.
Jan 30 Pop 01 5:51 PM -- Gloves Pop 02 6:28 PM -- Gloves Pop 03 9:40 PM -- Gloves Jan 31 Pop 04 12:03 AM -- Gloves Pop 05 12:30 AM -- Gloves Pop 06 12:30 AM upstairs -- Gloves Sleep: Pop 07 10:46 AM Moat - some csah farmers killed the whole castle ( claimed they killed 1 scryer no dagger)-- Gloves Pop 08 11:11 AM Upstairs -- Gloves Pop 09 03:31 PM -- Gloves went to paint stuff. Pop 7:11 PM Down in the basement (Neg 10, Neg 430, -38) Locustlure!
I noticed that if nobody in zone, you can camp the 2 rooms behind the right courtyard, otherwise he can pop just anywhere in the zone.
I got this weapon for my rogue he's 74 now and needs a solo item. Sure there are alot of weapons out there but this will make me save a few hits. I think I got a good deal on it 2500pp for it and I'm happy. I plan to use it until it procs and then switch it for my fable gargoyle claw I hope the combo works. Last time I saw this was going on Rathe for 250k and one for 100k so when I saw it for 2500pp I was like SWEET DEAL. The guy even thanked me for buying it. I hope it works well if not I can sell it or give it to a Guildie. Assasion Geegen Micrognome 74 rogue PoTHs Rathe
Anyone know at what point the weapon will not be useful. Another words at point are lvl of mob will the slow not land. I just bought this to today and havent tried it yet. I hope it helps alot with my soloing for shards
Well, I've been using this pretty much since I was able to proc it. This proc still lands on Mobs in WoS,Paw,MPG ,and the like, so yes you can use this and it will land although mitigated on mobs equal to the level you are, I mostly get meesage "mostly successful" %t Yawns". Perfect example is in Paw, Soloing a single I have no problem proccing this in the first few rounds or sooner, then it's all out Dmg weps. from there. So even at Higher levels (75) this slow works and saves your hp..

Technically speaking, the spell checks against MR & has ZERO adjustment. So the proc has an enormous potential resist handicap as you level up & everymob in the world has innately high MR.
If you have an item or a poison with an MR debuff proc, that'd be the one to use in conjunction with this dagger.
it's always useful. If you're a rogue, this should be one of the items in your bag of tricks.
It can proc on mobs of any level that I have seen, though higher level mobs may mitigate the slow. If you are to weigh its usefulness in later levels...you'll need to weigh your DPS loss by equipping it vs. the POSSIBILITY that it will proc and save the tank some hp's, and the healer some mana.
Procs are generally not reliable enough...but in certain emergency situations this may save the day. Your slower LD's when a pull is inc and you have no crowd control, for example.
Sometimes, depending on the tanks ability to keep agro, I'll try to proc a slow before the chanter lands theirs (somewhere between tank getting agro, chanter tashing, chanter slowing). Depends on everything really. Just get a feel for your group and if the time fits, go for it.
Anyone know at what point the weapon will not be useful. Another words at point are lvl of mob will the slow not land. I just bought this to today and havent tried it yet. I hope it helps alot with my soloing for shards
Bile Drenched maine Gouche and this Little baby make a perfect combo. The bile is 12(13)dmg and can't recall the dly right off hand, but think its right around 20. Tons of added stats. Str, dex, so forth and so on. To get max stats you have to be lvl 53, but the under 53 stats are still killer. Doing 290dmg backstabs with it right now. Average bacstabs are at 175 or so. Use this with the 29percent haste belt that i have and shooooo weeeeee wath me fly.

I have to disagree with all of you thta keep claiming this is 'too fast'. Just as most other rogues said, EVADE!! It's a godsend. My little rogue is only 30 right now, but even at that lvl, I rarely have a problem evading while swingin' this. I keep a Crystaline Spider Fang in main hand (for BS/dmg reasons) and this in my offhand. Sure, it won't proc for me yet, but the number of extra times I hit via dual wield is still very nice. Even on the few occasions when I use this in mainhand, I rarely 'keep' aggro if I do happen to get it.
I'm not altogether sure how some of you play your rogues, but if you aren't using all the hotkeys to your advantage to evade, pickpocket, sense traps or any of the other countless abilities, all just to keep aggro off you during a fight, don't you think it's about time you should? A typical fight for me will be:
1) wait 3 seconds after warrior starts in. 2) backstab/pickpocket/disarm/sense traps to start. 3) evade/sense heading (even if I didn't pull aggro) 4) normal attack until backstab refreshes, then rinse, repeat.
I do fine with that and can usually help the warrior to chain pull using this method due to bs dmg and overall speed.
Well at lvl 30 as a rogue who is twinked, taking a little damage is nothing. And why would you have a backstab/pickpocket button? Attach pickpocket to your evade button, works much better since you are turning off attack anyways.
At higher lvl in groups rogues aren't the gimps most people think we are, but we still shouldn't be taking too much damage.
On raids...well that is a different story...getting aggro = death. Not that it matters, I always just die from AoEs...druids who are supposedly backup healers don't see the need to heal me, or think someone else will do it.
This weapon is mainly for soloing anyhow. At least I always see soloers in velks using them til they proc.
all I can say is if you keep dying becuz of this weapon, learn how to play a rogue or quit becuz I know MUCH faster with MUCH faster dmg per second weapons (Horn of Hsagra?) that keep many 60 Rogues alive.
Bristlebane blessed us with Evade...don't ignore it. Yes it works, not sure if the Hide skill is associated with the success of Evade but not like its that hard to train.
first of all, slow=BIG aggro. bad for a rogue. secondly, fast weaps=good, but too much evading can also reduce your overall damage output. for a rogue, a HIGH damage, good ratio weapon is GOD in primary. i currently use a goblin spear of dread tidings in primary (15/24), yes, kinda slow, but very good ratio, and legendary dagger of might in offhand partly for the vengeance and mostly 'cause i'm too cheap to buy a new weap when i'm mostly done with my epic (which is going straight to offhand). for a rogue, speed is not everything in a weap. the reason it is for wars is more swings=more aggro. this weapon is godlike for the few rogues who solo (WHY? you're a ROGUE! if you wanted to solo yer way to 60 play a dr00d!) but i personally would never use this in a group setting.
The spell walking sleep has an effect of 23% to 35% slow, and this being refered to as a Shaman's spell from level 14 to lev 60. So my question is this, if you are a lev 60 rogue, will your LL proc slow of 35%?? Or it will merely stays at 23%??
anyone know a good combonation weapon with this. looking for another weapon and want to get the right one it would be much help if you could e-mail me at shua824@aol.com if you know a good combo with this and are willing to share the info thanks :)
Bone Razor 10 dmg 20 del Loclustre 8 Dmg 17 Del proc Walking Sleep Jagged Ice Shard 12 Dmg 29 Del proc shard of ice
she is selling one of these, question is which and what does she use primary and off hand?. I thought Loclustre in Off hand and Jagged ice in primary, She thinks Bone Razor primary and Loclustre off hand, she wants to acieve max damage per fight. Thanks for any Info
Dump that jagged ice shard, unless shes got a fbss or something equivalent... 29 delay just sucks...
Also, <i dont have a bone razor,> but its listed as 10/22 not 10/20... And i would use that in the primary for better BS and dmg bonus attacks...
Locust has the best ratio out of your 3 weapons there, and should be great in the offhand for a long time. Also the fact its dly is less than primary you will get more chances to duel wield with it....
Overall it really depends on the rogues lvl and skills... There are also other factors to consider like: whos the main assist, what weapons is he/she useing, where are we fighting, etc etc....
Just to let you know, dual wield operates independently of your main hand's delay. So, your secondary weapon will swing the same number of times as if you had a 10 or 50 delay weapon in the mainhand.
#REDACTED,
Posted:Jul 26 2003 at 9:56 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Not true. Dual Wield will only kick if a)Your secondary delay is satisfied, and b)When primary weapon kicks. If primary delay is faster than secondary delay then the off hand will only atempt duel wield on every other swing of your primary. If secondary is faster than primary then it is effectivly treated as haveing the same delay as primary and will attempt duel wield on each swing of primary. By attempt I mean that it will make a check against your DW stat.
What lvl is your wife? The higher her level the higher her dmg bonus with her main hand.
Now take what I say with a grain of salt as my rogue is only 18th lvl... but I do have a 52nd ranger :)
Locustlure main hand 8/17, more swings per fight gives more chances of doin extra dmg cause dmg bonus. Bone Razor off hand 10/20, best ratio of the bunch, most dmg over time in off hand because of no dmg bonus.
Yes I didn't mention the Ice Shard... highest dmg means bigger backstabs and the proc will be nice... but going with the other setup will give you more consistant and potentially better dmg over the duration of the fight.

I had this weapon on my Rogue and it was useful when power leveling him in the his mid to high 40's with a druid/cleric combo (My Druid and My wife's Cleric) since we wanted rogue to have agro and the slow reduced the mana drain on healing.
He's now 52 and still using it (will keep to epic complete), don't find agro a problem as a) mostly have better slow being cast by shaman/chanter in groups so proc does not take hold and b) evade works fine.
Even when I recently had the proc go off on the first few swings (IE mob yawned) a 51 temple guardian in that temple in the grey I took a couple of hits before warrior regained agro.
Is this weapon too fast to be a rogue weapon? No. Will it be an effective taunt? Probably. I assume that these high level warriors do know about weapon delay and taunting effects.
But as most high level rogues know, evade makes that problem simply go away. Nothing is "too fast to be a good rogue weapon".
This weapon is NOT too fast for a Rogue. I use this with Ragebringer when we have no Shammie/Chanter/Bard and rarely loose agro. Point in case, the other night I was in Maidens with some friends. Group was as follows:
If we let the Pally beat the mobs down for 5 secs or so, he could hold agro for the duration of the fight usually. At the time, I was using the LL to slow. The moral of the story is that if you are a good Rogue, you will not get agro, and on the occasions that you do, you will loose it quickly.
Never. I agree with the guy who said this weapon is far too fast to be a good rogue weapon.
The proc would help if you don't have a chanter or shaman in the group to slow, but good luck getting the beasty off ya after it procs.
As most higher level warriors know, the faster the weapon the more taunt it generates, almost irrespective of damage.
That's why my war is trying to switch from a Wurmslayer (25/40) to a jade mace or equivalent damage/delay paradigm, to keep the beasties off the silly rogue and his 8/17 dagger of taunting.
I sorta havta agree that this is too fast for a rogue. I currently use it and I'm fine when it procs etc... but I get a lot of agro, if pally is MT cleric usualy ends up healing me cause even successfully evading every time it pops I can;t lose agro (unless it a good pally)
I currently use this and a bloodpoint (on loan unfortunatly). Catching agro should never really be a rogue's problem. I rarely get his on most encounters, and if I do it is only because evade failed and I am waiting for the hide button to reset. Most of the time it is just a matter of :
*weapon procs - mob yawns* *mob turns to me to attack* *I evade* *mob turns back around before even swinging* *I continue my assult to the back and neck*
You may think that the numbers (8/17) say "too much taunt for a lower AC class" but ask the rogues that have used and currently use them and you will find it very hard to find a weapon that actually taunts "too much" for a smart rogue. (If you do, the "smart rouge" will be in EC selling it for a less taunting weapon.)
by the time you're at a lvl high enough to get this weapon, you're grouping with some smart warriors (hopefully) and they'll know how to keep aggro. Even if the rogue does get aggro, a warrior should always be able to get it back before the rogue dies. And if they can't then they're kinda crappy warriors :-/ If the rogue gets aggro just turn attack off for a second, get thwacked, let warrior beat the crap out of the mob, retain aggro and keep on going. It shouldn't be THAT hard.
Grouped with a guild mate tonight who had this dagger in OOT, fighting Seafuries. It procced consistently during the battle, but as far as taunt... He had Evade, and he used it. He was averaging about 1 or 2 swings taken at him per clops, tops. About half the time, he didn't catch agro at all. Fast it may be, and the proc may cause some substantial taunt, but hopefully by the time a Rogue is using this, he is a) Smart enough to use agro management (Evade, standing off from a rooted mob, etc, etc.), and b) is grouped with someone who can Main tank at least semi competently. I keep several different weapon combinations on me for just such an occurance. If there's a rogue, and I'm main tanking, I go taunt all the way, with proc buffs up and fastest weapons I have. In any event, awesome wep :)
