My wiz picked this up at the grand total cost of a bit of mana for a port to Stonebrunt :)
My problem is I came looking to try and figure out which of my alts could best use it. I have a warrior and a monk. The warrior regularly has problems with low stamina and both of them have weapons that proc.
Maybe I'll just wear out that nice new shared slot in my bank *g*

Posted:Feb 02 2003 at 1:34 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I can not see the hype behind this earing - I'd much rather have a black saphire earing as a hybrid or a caster then this thing - guess you gotta be a monk to understand it.
I can tell you the reason its so hyped. Stamina is the hardest stat in the game to raise. Period. An earring with 5 sta is incredible. I've noticed that most items with high stamina have low ac which really sucks. Not only does STA raise hp, it helps with fatigue. Melee classes with stamina below 100 won't be able to swing very long. Once your yellow bar is out you'll rarely land a good hit and your agi, dex and other stats I think will go down. Not good when you could possibly be swinging for over 10 minutes.
So my guess is that this is so expensive and hyped because of the stamina. And because stamina is one of most important stats in the game and also the hardest to get up. Especially for non-plate classes.
In addition, most tanks want 4 things, AC to prevent hits, HP to soak up the hits when they do get hit, Weapons that proc to increast taunt, and the dexterity neccessary to cause the proc often.

This is a nice earring no matter what ya say. I've seen it in bazaar, although rarely (they disappear fast), going for 4.5k. It's mostly monks that like to buy them.
I won a roll for one of these earrings on a guild raid tonight. I sold it later in Turgadin to a Monk for 5kpp. He had about 50kpp on him, was KOS in Thurg and hiding out at the bank. So we were in a hurry to make the deal. Before we could start his invis wore off and he picked up agro of the whole bank area so he had to run for the zoneline. We made the deal there and he zoned out into the Greatdivide. SCORE!.......
Meanfists lvl 54 Barbarian Beastlord Mayhem's Touch Druzzil Ro Server
Very nice deal, very very nice deal. I dunno what server you play on, but on my server (Bertoxx) 5K for this is unheard of!! I have a good friend who buys these often, and he pays about 750ish i think, but even 1.5K ain't bad for this (thats about normal actually). This is a really nice earring, and I recommend it to any and all of the up-an-coming tanks!
If you pay more than 1k for this earring, you are buying into the stamina hype. I'm not saying that stamina is not a very valuable skill, it's just that it's a sudden trend for melee (and pretty much all) classes to have high stamina. If you'll notice Verant has bought into this craze and is putting stamina and hp on a lot more items at the cost of other stats. Farmers are taking advantage of the stamina craze and selling these earrings for 4k+ and mosquito leg earrings for ridiculous amounts like 90k. Don't buy into the hype. Stamina is a wonderful stat, and the best for warriors. However, people will get over it, and prices will come back down to reality as Verant adds more stamina/hp items to meet the trend. Also 60 warriors top out the hit point per stamina point gain at 6 hp per 1 sta. That means this earring gives you 24 hp if you're a warlord. Granted, that's nice for an earring (combined with the 5 ac), but it's still 24 hp. For other classes it's less. And dex, as we all know, is worthless. So use your head... dial 1-800-COLLEK, as Mr. T says, and don't pay 4k for this item. It'll save you a buck or two.
stamina to HP conversion is not on absolute value, adding 10 stamina to 295 to cap it at 305 will give u less HP then 10 stamina to bump from 90 sta to 100. all classes CAN use sta for HP and many warriors favor dex over agi and str because of increased weapon procs as someone mentioned above
While I doubt I'd pay more than 1 - 2kpp for this item, don't underrate it. While it's true that it doesn't give a stunning amount of hps, you have to consider the slot you have it in. Unless you get lucky enough to get a uber earring drop, or fork out major pp for a mosquito leg or something better, this item is useful. HP is the most important stat in the game, and anything that provides them is good.
i would think that a crit would pretty much be a warriors goal in life. aside from being a meatshield, critting is all you can really do that is special. Not that procing isn't special, but seriously...I am all for crits...hahah
#REDACTED,
Posted:Aug 26 2002 at 3:51 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Actually crits arent based on dex, it is a set percentage that you have to crit, otherwise what would be the point of getting more than 1 point in combat fury if you are already able to crit?
you put more than 1 point into combat fury so you have a better chance to crit more, wouldnt you like to do more dmg more often? if you are already able to crit you crit ALOT more with combat fury 3 and more dmg = faster kills
I would get this ring for the Dex, but my most prefered earing that is obtainable for me atm is this << https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=9869 >> but this would be nice too << https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=7158 >> these are my next goals i have found that buffs can cover any lack of stats but AC is the single most hardest stat to come by. And we all know AC and HP means survival in a mele battle where as Resist on most Raids.
Dex worthless huh? Play a Ranger sometime. Dex directly influences your Archery (read: Trueshot) damage. I can agree on the Stamina, although frankly I do not consider it as useless as you seem to, but between AC and Dex, this is a pretty darn kickin ear slot item.
I think it is worth the price it is becuase it has nice ac and is on par/would compliment a sarnak station earriong well. Also it's lore.. meaning if everyone in group has it rots. Therefore you have to wait for the melee to get em, then for the casters to start getting and selling after they give to their alts... Just a thought tho and I may be wrong. Not too many LORE earrings, most you can farm to your hearts desire.

Expect paying 4 to 6k on this item, at least thats the typical on Brell server. This item rocks because of the sta. How many earrings can you think of that have a good sta boost? Thats right, not many. This is one of the best non dragon drop earrings in the game, and thats why you'll be hard pressed to find someone selling for any less than i stated. Gluck on this, Alvai Aenimatiq, 38 Rogue Brell server
your friendly neighborhood chanter can make you some nice 7 sta earings if you like. If you are saying that the sta is good on these just for hitpoints, i agree, though i think you can do better... If you were of lvl to attain this item that is.
The only earrings I can think of off the top off my head that probably add more hp and have decent AC and stats are Mosquito Leg Earrings from the revamped CT that sell for ~80k on Torv.

Posted:Mar 17 2002 at 7:11 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) we got one or should 2 of these last night and i think they both fell off those 4 armed hard to pull single Monster,s
1. I have yet to see this item drop yet on an umbruos toiler, despite the afore mentioned listing above.
2. Personally I think the most noteworthy aspect of this item is the lovely combination of AC, Dex, and stamina. For many people, this affords the needed boost in stamina to get them over the "100 hurdle" for melee combat attack depreciation. There are some other items at this level. some class specific that can get you over the hurdle, but this is a nice simple item that is available to all / all.
3. When you start hitting level 50, Shamans truely begin to shine. With Harnessing of Spirit, coupled with their STR spell, nearly everyone can hit the 255 cap on STR, and STR items take a lower priority to other stat enhancers, such as dex. Dex helps to determine the frequency of crit hits, as well as helps in increasing skill gain for most combat related skills.
4. In time, as you increase in levels, the importance that you place in AC and stats fades, and you tend to place a greater emphasis on resist gear. Until you reach that point, this lovely item will really help to fill the void
Happy hunting to all! Chase some of those nasty 4-arms around -- just call those trains before you hit the zone line :-)
Uh, Samanthie, the shaman spell Harnessing of Spirit includes STR. It's the shaman STR, DEX, and HP buffs all rolled into one nice neat little package. And Harnessing is really just a convenience, because it gives the same stats and uses the same mana as if you cast the three spells individually.
Stamina, I love thee! At creation, a lot of us ***** up, I tried not to, I am an iksar monk, I put str up to 80, dex up to 100, and agi up to 100, but NOTHING into stam, or little, if I did,, So.. with all my gear on and all I have 93 stamina, YOU BET, stamina is SO GOOD to have, but I didn't know that almost all armor has little to no sta increasing stats. I would get one of these if I could get a group here, Noone wants a 50 monk? whatever... I spent a day and got a goraga idol and a goranga spiked club, I would love one of these to pair with my orc fang, Orc is good, but I would still love to raise my stamina closer to 100.
I replaced a cougar claw with one of these for my bard. The dex is nice along with AC. These things used to drop quite often (editing this in October) and the numerous times I've been in Maiden's Eye since this post I have only seen 1 more. They both dropped off Xin Thall Centiens while camping the Akheva zone line.
Drops off Xen thall Centions in Maidens Eye. There's a great camp for these things, I dont have location but if you've been to maidens Eye you know there is a building straight ahead of the Dawns Peaks zones, go to the opening of that building, and hang a left, go all the way to the corner. I spent a few hour here. Saw 1 20 ac 15 STR/WIS belt, 2 Vah Shri Claw Earrings, bout 10 spells (Yes 58 level spells drop here), a Shrouded Medallion, and one Hoop of the MagiKot Mage earrings.
Nice, nice, nice. All I can say. Of course, now I won't feel quite as special for having a SEoS and a SGTSE as my earrings. Heh, now everyone will have a 5ac earring *pout*
Ah well, I didn't try and camp the sarnak one on purpose. I'll probably switch them around, using the sarnak when soloing and getting encumbered (with weight reducing bags, 5 weight is a lot of loot if you are collecting fine steel or something), and use this one all the rest of the time. 4 sta is better than 5 str any day of the week. 6 dex is just a nice bonus.

Will definitely replace my Sarnak Earring of Station if I can get my hands on one of these. Take 4sta 6dex over 5str any day. Tiny Silver Guilded on the other ear, I'd keep the hp/mana over 5str on that slot too...

One word for you L O R E! You man only have one my friend.
I rather pass these over myself and keep my Cougar Claw Earrings thank you very much. Me being a Wood Elf Ranger I need all the Str. I can get. Dex is great for archery and the lil AC is nice. When you look at each pt. of Sta doesn't add a lot. If it comes on an item great for Stamina! Personally I'll take Str. over Stamina any day of the week. I'm a dmg dealer not a tank.
I'd think these would be good for Pallys, SK's and Warriors. Their the ones who are the boys after Stamina.
Yes I think these are tempting for all melee classes, but as a halfelf ranger who screwed up in creation and put all my points into str, I have a really low wis, but oh well w/ that dex my 2 yaks will be proccing like there's no tomorrow, and that sta will get me closer to that 100 no loss for being tired cap or whatever it's called. Of course I have to get to 37 for my yaks to proc at all.
Arterizoth Arrowfomer<The Reckoning> 35 Ranger of Tunare Master Fletcher Mith Marr Look me up for bows and arrows
I put all my points into str as well and always have to ask for a sta buff, or invigor cast during heated battles so that I don't run out of stamina. I look for anyway to get my sta above the 75 it is.

They should make a "farming server" so that they have something to do.
"Do to the apparent lack of consideration that seems to be missing in Luclin, we have decided to open up the Pyzjin Server. The rules for this server are as follows: Nothing is Lore or No Drop, everything drops in 15 minute intervals, you must remain at a camp for 36 hours or the items you've farmed will vanish (shouldn't be a problem for most of you farmers out there), and everyone who creates a character must pass our IQ test to show that you are truly dumb enough to not only think that everyone will want to pay the ridiculous amounts of money you want, but to also pay those ridiculous amounts yourself. Have fun and see you on Pyzjin."
Did I happen to mention that I love what they are doing with these Luclin drops. =) Oh and this is not a bad item in itself. Dex and Sta are great to work on after you get your prime stat (or stats) in order. Have fun on the moon everyone! =)
/agree only I think it should be called the Hadden server. And when I was in EC the other day I saw some guy selling luclin spells for 100pp each. Only they weren't the ones that you get as drops. They where the same ones I had just bought for my Ranger off a NPC merchant for less than 30pp total.
Well, here is my 2cp. I was looking at the current earrings I have, and it seems to me STR earrings are pretty easy to come by (at least that has been the case for me). What I noticed though, when I looked at my other items, was that quite a few of them had STM or DEX, which I had aquired to get my stamina and/or dex above 100.
I have been wanting to upgrade some items for quite some time now, but I really dont want to drop something (or things) that will reduce my stamina too much, mainly so I dont drop it below that magic number of 100. For example, if I get a better neck and shoulder item, I will lose enough stamina right there to drop me to 99 STM, which is bad. Strength items I can come by, tons of items seem to have strength. But the upgrades I want don't have the stamina I need to keep above 100.
Whala! I take off one of my STR earrings, and I can make those two changes, and keep above 100 STM, and pick up a bunch of DEX to boot! The only other thing I would miss would be the AC that my old earring provided, which this also conviently has, all in a nice, tidy package. Yes, I will lose a few hit points in the transaction from losing more STM than I am gaining, but the gear I want to upgrade to has a bunch more AC and other stats to make up for this (just not STM).
Now I just have to get one of these nifty problem solvers.....
Mostly all melee will want to get these, they are slightly better than cogar/orc fang earing that evryone as been wearing since velious came out. To bad they don't have str tho, they would have been nice with str instead of dex hehe
Yes, it's a nice little upgrade to the cougar claw earring. No, a str upgrade would not be preferable. Strength is the easiest stat to upgrade or buff. Only a Shaman can directly buff your Dex and it has a decent impact on you overall offensive output.
STR and STA are nice stats, but if you are 50+ you are probably going to be getting STR and STA buffed over 200 on a regular basis unless you are soloing. The hardest stat to buff is AC, so IMO AC and HP gear > all, HP for cases where you will be getting CH, every HP you have is more you get back from the CH.
I assume your putting Boon of the Garou in the catagory of indirectly buffing dex? though personally I only use it as a dex buffer spell myself, I can see how it might be called 'indirect'
Absolutely correct. Str is quite easy to augment and Dex is quite useful. In my case, I have some Crustacean Shell armor to boost my Stamina and my Strength as a Dark Elf. I enjoy the fact that these earrings could give me ever needed AC and help recover some of the -Dex that comes from wearing some Crustacean Shell armor. I also use a Soul Binder and enjoy it's significant lifetap proc. So in a context, these earrings have great utility.
