My combinations
# Jan 07 2002 at 9:26 AM Rating: Decent
I have this in my primary, with (right now) an Edge of the Taskmaster.
I am contemplating this or my Lammy, GJBS, or Crystalline Short Sword.
I dont care for the Lammy too much. The GJBS isnt too bad, but I like the CSS, so it is a toss between the EotT and my CSS.
Also equipped are Silver Chitin Hand Wraps, so the 27delay is not bad at all...more like 21-22 delay.

I am using the LSOEE in main and a CENT LS in the offhand. With a haste item I rock.

I have seen so many of these centi weapons on NPC's it makes me sick. I have also seen a lot of red plate armor of some sort droped on NPC's. Now that I know what those swords are I think I'll go cry myself to sleep.

Mage summoned chain is also red but i dont know the stats, probably the same as mail or chain or something like that

I just purchased 2 Centi Longswords. When I started fighting with these things (I also have a haste sash) my stamina droped quicker than a 5 dollar hooker. Then I remembered that I (Ranger) had a little used spell called Invigor. I cast this spell and my stamina drain was ALMOST back to normal.

To sum it up. Rangers can offset the stamina drain by using the Invigor spell.

# Jan 08 2002 at 6:50 AM Rating: Good
Ah, but if your stamina is 100+, the only thing that happens when your stamina bar runs out is that you can't jump (everything else like attack speed remain unchanged). With +16 from 2 of these, you won't need much to hit 100 STA. :)

... the only problem is that as Rangers we are often the puller. Invigor has a cast time of 3.5 seconds, thus I usually don't cast this during a fight. I use a stamina slayer, I share your issue.

I have been know to cast zing on myself when the mobs turns, though :)

Assuming the LSoE is not primary only, you may want it in secondary, as it has the best ratio, and since there is no damage bonus on secondary, that's important. However, I would go with the centi LS offhand, as the str will increase your attack (hitting more often) and the damage done by the primary hand, which hits more often than the secondary anyway. In primary, you'd want your fastest weapon, unless you are low level. In this case the JBoM. Also, the +10 sv magic is sweet. This assumes you are a warrior, and want to taunt, and do max damage.

If you want to avoid taunt, use the spear. The extra 10 pts in damage will be each swing, not just when you get a successful dual wield roll. Also, since it is in primary, and is a 2hs it should have a very nice damage bonus at high levels. People often underrate 2hs, because it SEEMS as thoguh 1hs would do more damage, if you got dual wield each round. This is a rare occurrance. Log a few battles each way, and tally your damage over time.

Just though I mention this with bane weps I would prefer them in the main, more chances for the 5 magic damage to go off will do more damage over time if we sre talking about a 2 delay difference

Well, while we're talking alright... what i'm beginning to think is instead of something like a 15/32 or a 20/30 2 hander, a 14/28, or 13/25, why not forsake some of them, sell them off, and run the Jagged Blade of Mourning with the Centi LS, or do what I did on my 29 WE Warrior since the economy on Innoruuk server is so screwed up right now. Keep the Centi LS and Jagged Blade of Mourning and wield them, or go get/buy a Winter's Fury 13/23 +6str +25hp (Free, mob drop in SS) and pair that bad boy up. For Looks i'm also playin around with a Jar'nal LS and a Brightwood spear (both are 9/24 +various stats and drop in SS) and sometimes pair the Centi up with the Jar'Nal... nice thing is that while running an FBSS, any of your choices are going to be fast on a duel wielding double attacking barely delayed meat shield, just watch out on which items are main or secondary only, but most you shouldn't have to worry about.
Doesn't Say what class you're using, i'm assuming you're a warrior(maybe i just skipped over where you said what lvl/class you are) anyways, my idea would be for speed of attack, something like the Winter's fury in main hand and the Centi LS in the offhand, or just use two Centi's, i see them duel wielded pretty often. Just my 2 cp worth, so don't get too upset if I took up a lot of room ;p. Take care all, safe hunting.

Everyone posting about how Lammys are "faster" seems to be forgetting something. Your delay doesn't go below 10, or one second, no matter how many haste items/buffs/percentage of haste you have. Since a lam is so low anyway, you can only reduce it's rate about 50% before hitting the min delay cap. Your weapon becomes 9/10.

The Centi and other high-damage but "slower" weapons can take greater hastes (which at 50+ you're going to get with any group that has a chanter in it, esp. if you've got a haste item.) At the same 50% delay reduction the centi becomes 15/13 at 70% it becomes 15/10 (technically .8 but the min delay cap again.)

So yes, this is superior weapon when there's haste involved.
RE: fhNiSN
# Jan 04 2002 at 12:25 PM Rating: Default
Weapons can go below 10 delay. A hasted moss-covered twig is (well, was, since nobodby's using them anymore) faster than an unhasted twig.

Oh, and it seems you're mixing up haste and delay reduction.

(100% haste = 50% delay reduction)
You can't reach a 70% delay reduction, since that would result in 140% haste, which isn't possible (...yet).

So, at max haste (without a Luclin lvl 60 bard ... forgot the name of the haste song) with 105% haste, the Lammy reaches 9dmg, 9del (19 unhasted). The Centi reaches 14dmg, 13del (27 unhasted).

So, this weapon is superior in the off-hand, however, in the main hand the damage bonus should offset the slight advantage of the Centi LS, thus making the Lammy better.

correct me if im rong but im pretty sure that you cannot go below 10 delay yet for game reason,(might not be fast enough to handle it or sumtin dumb)or mayb just so u cannot make a Moss covered twig 3 5, or reasons i have not thought of, and also i am pretty sure haste makes u hit 21 percent FASTER with a fbss not take of 21 percent of the delay, which equal about 15 percent off the delay, so 100 percent would equal 50 percent off the delay but it would not equal 75 percent doesnt equal 75 percent off the delay plz feel free to correct me if im rong

Most effective combo
# Jan 02 2002 at 9:57 AM Rating: Decent
I am currently wielding a Wurmy as my primary and a Lammy in the secondary slot. From reading some of these posts, it sounds like I'm not utilizing the Lammy to its potential. Anybody have thoughts on what the best combo of 1hs for a warrior may be? I was considering the Lammy and a CLS or maybe a CSS, but would love to hear more thoughts on this.
not too bad
# Dec 31 2001 at 12:43 AM Rating: Decent
It's not too bad I guess, but think I still like my defiance/blood point combo, just cause with a high dex I get a lot of drain procs so it adds to my dmg output and heals me some too :) Definately something I take out of the bag every now and then though, like to keep a good stash of weapons on me, hehe. Full tinker bag of them now :)

they go for about 1500pp on Fennin Ro. Rest of the Centi weapons go for about 400pp to 700pp. Not bad for what essentialy is "junk" loot from a higher level zone.

Looks
# Dec 30 2001 at 1:30 PM Rating: Decent
As for the look, I've had several people ask me if they were my epics. They're *that* incredible looking. o_O

They're impossible to describe and still do them justice, and I don't have any webspace at the moment where I could post a picture. Still, I'll try.

Roughly as long as most two-handed swords. Think of the Sword of Skyfire, basically, for size and general shape.

The center of the blade has a broad, darker strip of metal that seems 'inset' into the blade... and down this strip, a line of large crimson runes are etched into the metal.

Outside the runic phrase and the darker section of the sword, the blade is made out of a bright silver material. The blade actually has thickness and was meticulously designed by whomever does the weapon models to accurately reflect the lighting in the area. It's hard to describe, but the blade is actually.. um, well... let's just say that it looks like a digitized version of a photograph of the most ornate sword you've ever seen.

Above the hilt, for what I would guess to be six to ten inches of the blade, both edges are broken into serrated teeth. Above this, the sword resumes more of a normal bladed edge, tapering off to a slightly triangular tip.

The hilt is dark gray metal, with an inverted teardrop of metal at the base. The crossguard is fairly broad and tapers off into pointed tips. In the center of the crosspiece, just beneath where the blade begins, a large, diamond-shaped jewel of fiery-purple hue is set.

I wish I knew how to upload a pic... they look cool enough by themselves, but two at once looks ungodly. Comparing them to the look of epics isn't fair, simply because epics were designed a *long* time ago... and naturally don't look half as good (although some of them have well-done particle effects).

The only sword that can compare to the look of the Centi Longsword that I've seen is the sword wielded by the Inquisitor of Seru, but I dunno if he's even been killed yet (or if he can be, might be another Sleeper-esque mob)... much less if he actually does drop the sword.

On a final note, yes, the drops of the Centi LS have been *severely* reduced.

First off, Crustacean Armor lowers charisma because it's "actually" gross, barnacle-encrusted, hollowed out shells strapped together with bands of leather and chain. And it probably stinks of seawater and fish poo too. Granted, in the game it *looks* almost exactly like bronze armor, but the Cha penalty is more of a roleplaying aspect than anything.

Not like anyone who can wear Crusty actually gives a rat's **** about Charisma, considering that the rumor about Charisma (high or low) affecting Fear spells isn't true... so SKs don't even care. Buying or selling gemstones or really expensive items to vendors? Just stuff your armor in a backpack. S'what I do with my Engraved Bone Pauldrons.

Now, about the Centi Longswords, my Ranger dual wields these beauties. They're just absolutely *made* for a Ranger, imho... non-lore, either hand, better than 50% dam/dly on a 1H weapon, huge bonuses to Str and Sta, and their delay isn't so low as to create a lot of taunt... which is something Rangers have trouble with *anyway*.

And two Centi Longswords gets you a *lot* of heads turning, people asking what weapons those are, tons of inspections, and people asking the stats/price/etc. The sheer attention value is pretty nice. ;)

Now, *eventually*, if you're going to for sheer damage... a Lamentation, Lupine Dagger, Revulant Whip, etc... will be better for your primary hand weapon, as weapons with lower delay benefit more from the primary hand weapon damage bonus. If I remember correctly, it's (Level - 25) / 3...

... making the Lamentation a better sword for sheer damage somewhere around the low 30's, if my math is right. As you increase in level, the Lammy will continue to become more efficient for damage. Keep in mind, however, that this is for your PRIMARY hand ONLY! For the secondary hand weapon, just get the best listed ratio you can get... and for that, the Centi LS is hard to beat.

Pre-30'ish, the Centi Longsword spanks the Lamentation. It *BARELY* exceeds the damage cap as well, at a rating of 14 for damage. You'll probably only see a difference of 1-4 points of max damage at most once you hit 20th.

Some people might say, "But you could never earn a Centi LS before 20th." True, but that's ignoring the fact that almost every character you see after 5th is twinked to some degree.

Rangers may wish to continue using *two* Centi LS's after the Lamentation becomes a better sword in terms of dam/dly... the lack of high taunt and better stats might be worth the tradeoff of a slightly greater damage efficiency. Then again, as I've always said, your weapon choice should be your last means of managing aggro... use of spells and careful attention to the fight should always be your first line of defense from getting smeared as a Ranger at the high-end game.

It's all up to you. :)

I keep reading how these weapons look really nice. Can anyone post a picture of what these weapons look like when wielded?
And thats bad because.....???
# Dec 30 2001 at 5:36 AM Rating: Good
Don't understand people ******** that prices have dropped dramatically on what were previously super-uber weapons. Why is that bad? Its about time that verant has made a way that people who don't play 24/7 can afford some of the nicer weapons in the games such as lammys, venom axes, and centi long swords. Or, in my case, I can afford to twink out a melee in a pair of really nice weapons. I don't see how this takes away from the game at all....
And for those who don't or can't twink, main tanks everywhere should rejoice that nice weapons are now affordable... and boohoo and whine whine to those who could previously sell lammys and venom axes for 10k or more. I guess you will have to go camp something else more profitable (pppbbbttt)
Lammies vs Centi Long Swords
# Dec 29 2001 at 8:24 PM Rating: Decent
I am currently a 35th lev warrior.
I am duel wielding lammy's with haste gloves
(I forget the name, its like spider fur wrasp ro something)
I am thinking of selling my 2 lammies (5-6k each) and buying 2 of theese (3k each) and havind some spare cash left over.

Can anyone who has owned both of theese weapons tell me wheteher or not this woul be folly on my part?

Keep in mind I like to use 2 of the same weapon for looks, so my question is 2 Lammies or 2 C.L.'s????

thanks all.

RE: Lammies vs Centi Long Swords
# Jan 04 2002 at 1:41 AM Rating: Default
I'd say the Centi would be preferable later on, because with the faster Lammies you might actually be (slightly) limited by the minimum delay, with good chanter haste and a good haste item. As people have pointed out, the higher-damage, slower Centis will never hit this limit.
Then again, the faster you hit, the better you keep aggro, but I think a pair of Centis will hold aggro just fine.

Better yet, for substantially more damage output, force yourself to use an unmatched pair of weapons: get a Longsword of Ethereal Energy and put it in your main hand. It is 16/29 vs. highly magic-resistant creatures, and improves to as much as 21/29 (against low blues or totally non-resistant MOBs.) Call it 18/29 or better in average everyday use, at a guess. DAMN good. That's Wurmy-style ratio in a reasonably fast weapon.

----

If you want to be stylish, my opinion is ditch the Centis! Pair some Lammies, or LSEE and Lammy. Maybe I'm in the minority but I think the Centis look dumb. They're ridiculously oversized. Ever since Final Fantasy 7, silly 50-pound comic-book swords make me sneer.

A 4-foot, slender 2-hand sword with a nice, deadly, basic shape, of some shiny midnight-blue metal, with a 40/40 damage ratio, (stats optional), is what I want to be seen wielding. C'mon Verant, make my dream come true!

40/40 2H is no longer out-of-line, considering all these new one-handers that are redefining the weapon market, the mid-level game, the high game, and just about everything.

RE: Lammies vs Centi Long Swords
# Dec 29 2001 at 11:34 PM Rating: Good
Keep one lammy in main hand. Get 1 CSL for off-hand. You'll soon start to see a substantial damage bonus on main hand, so you want to keep a lower delay weapon there. Off-hand there's no bonus, so ratio is what's important.

RE: personal opinion
# Dec 29 2001 at 12:46 PM Rating: Excellent
You may do more damage, but you won't build anywhere close to the aggro you'll get with a lammy. If you want aggro, main hand has to be the lowest delay you can find, and 9/19 is the best most people can get. Few are lucky enough to find a 10/18 they can afford or kill for, and even fewer a sword under 18 delay (Swiftblade of Zek, 11/17 for example) Offhand you want the highest damage while still keeping a good ratio. My warrior is using a Defiance (9/19) and Scimitar of the Emerald Dawn (20/34), and I do more damage while keeping aggro than anyone I know, short of Primal wielders. It's all about the delay.

I dunno bout other servers but since Luclin came out there have bin crazy changes in econmy on drinal, lammy dropped from 8k to 4k in a week, almost every weapon dropped in price dramaticly, and as for the centi. heh. it went from 15k the first few days of SoL and now sells for 3k. its sad, verant has taken a really nice weapon and brutalized it. once upona time club of ice ocean was consderided a great weapon but super exspensive(around 10k now). now u can buy a weapon with same ratio for a fraction of the cost.

this combo is really good I think..and I have looked at a lammy....whats the big deal with the lammys? it is only rated as good..while these two swords are Amazing!!!

now just to get one piece of haste gear and I think I will be set.

these are the best two weapons I have ever had..
and untill someday I am able to get my epics..this combo is hard to beat!

Dont be fooled by the ratio statement on this site, it does not reflect the true potential of the weapons when used in the primary hand. Once you factor in the level based damage bonus for primary hand, you will find that the Lammy outdamages this in the primary hand from about level 40 onwards.
In the secondary then this will always outdamage a lammy.

I personally would like this sword in both of my ranger's hands. Yes, lammy's are nice and yes this will drop the price. As it has been stated earlier though, the desire will rely on the class and how the person plays it. It seems to me, though, that the starting price on these babies is rather low while the lammy, which has been around longer and has many more in circulation remains in my opinion, too high.

Just a thought

You just can't beat the price of these new swords! Even now, with the money spent on one Lamentation, you could have 2 Centi LS'es and still have around 1k plat left over.

However, as anyone who dual wields the Centi Longswords will tell ye, 2 of these weapons will drink your stamina bar rather quickly. You WILL look extremely pretty, though :)

Lammy main-hand and Centi LS off hand is a decent combo. I, el-Ghetto Ranger, have a LSoEE mainhand wit Centi LS off. Either one of these combos are fine if you're into conserving stamina.
