Dropped from "a steamwork shock trooper" pulled out of the room you find the Gnomium samples for the Alloy Samples quest.

Both the yellow and the purple gem grade faycite drop off "a steamwork trooper" for me. We tried killing many other things, but in the end we always got them to drop off the troopers. Happy Hunting!
