Posted: Jan 27 2003 at 2:39 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Well I have tried numerous times to buy myself a horsie. I right click on the borthers in the stable and they just con like a regular mob. I hail them and they say they buy horses only. Do I have to do this quest to buy horses?
You buy the horse from the two merchants who are in the stables. What you actually buy is a bridle that summons a horse. When you want to sell your horse back (at a noticable loss), you hand your bridle to one of these guys, he gives you a bag of platinum (an item, not coin) which you have to take to... well... ANY... merchant, but preferably one which likes you, to sell.

Did this quest as a 2nd level druid. took me 20 minutes. hardest part is finding the people you need to give the items to. Almost died when I strayed too close to a blood sucking plant. Faction in nice, and now can buy food and water in Shadowhaven. Also, the pirces did indeed go down. wnet to druid trainer and tried to buy spells: without amulet ciost 5p 6g, while with, 4p 6g, approximately. Still more expensive than in Kelethin, but an improvement

I did this quest, and wear the amulet. Is that why I am not KOS in the city by the book in Overthere? I am told I should be KOS, but everything cons apprehensive and I can walk freely in the city.

No. That Overthere Outpost is a seperate faction named Venril Sathir. You are not KOS there because you are either an evil race, an evil class, or worship an evil deity. Also, certain agnostic humans can enter the Overthere outpost as well.

Agnostic erudites (Wizzie) are not KOS there either, matter o' fact.. I'm not KOS anywhere really, threatening in a few places, but not scowling, ready to attack anywhere that I've ever been. A few easy little quests like this one are usually all that I need to overcome what rare bad faction I encounter in my travels (notable exceptions are CoV, which seems quite difficult to fix so far, and I am quite hated by ulthorks due to my Quad kiting habit, however, the little othmir guys love me so much for it that it's worth a quick port to CS to sell stuff to the brewer merchant there)

Ok, I did this quest 5 time. After the first I could trade if wearing the amulet, after the fith time I no longer needed it :)
Did this quest once.. went from apprehensive to Amiable...
Just did an "Identify" on the amulet using my silvery mask. Here are the current results as of June 29, 2002:

Just redid this, the faction modifer has been restored. Now all venders will sell to me in shadowhaven and i can now use the bank near the spires as well!

It seemed to take my iksar up one level.. from apprehensive to dubious. That should speed things up a bit if it's going to raise me a whole level.

There is a way to get your Shadowhaven faction up. A guy in teh back room with Record keeper ajar give a quest for a Gemmed Sword hilt that needs to go to yaeorat (something like that) in katta its a good faction hit with
Traders of haven Guards and others i believe 3 total. ive done this quest 7 times and got my faction to Amibly from Dub. And i believe for the FG guard they cane be raised by doing the quest the barbie gives ya 2 door to the right of Soulbinder

I have done this quest several times with my alts and showing others to Fungus Grove. Lowest level I have done it with is lvl 8 Bard using Selo's. Nothing attacked her on the way through and if you watch for the tentacle things they are easily avoided.

How did you use selo's inside? Camo won't work so I wouldn't think selo's would either.
Superior Camo will work indoors and Selo's, SOW and camo will not. That is the main difference from the Sup Camo to the plain ol' camo.
So I went on this silly quest for nothing and I still can't buy anyhting from the vendors. Just great.
I had to do thw quest 3 times with my Paladin (High elf). And 5 times with my Barbarian Warrior.
The faction boosts are nice, but the item is otherwise worthless - wearing it doesn't help me in the least bit.

SINCE the WOOD ELF in the druid train area 'Won't have anything to do with filthy WOOD ELVES like you', I'd love to be able to train in SH if the need arises.. Is this the quest I need to do to get them to allow me to train?

I haven't been able to complete the quest yet. I can't get through Echo caverns, camo doesn't work. But if you're a wood elf you should be able to sneak behind the trainer and train. I did it with the ranger trainer.

I just looked at my amulet and it now does not say that it has a faction modifier. Has this been changed?
I noticed that, too. Mine used to say that, and no longer does. It also has no effect on any /con faction within Shadow Haven (Troll Warrior, Rallos Zek) and made no difference for me on prices. I now keep it in the bank with all the other currently useless No Drop items.
You need somebody to cast an "Identify" spell on it to get the faction adjustment note
I just cast Identify on the Amulet of the Haven, it just says "Item Lore: Amulet of the Haven" now. I think Verant stealth-nerfed this item.

This item may be necessary when Verant codes in the game so PC's can sell in the Bazaar. Perhaps this item will need to be worn when you register as a PC merchant.
I just completed this quest yesterday and did it by first binding myself in the same room as Trade Commissioner Henry. Made the trip to the bazaar and gated back. Made the trip to Fungus Grove using the false wall approach near the Rogue trainer. Using SoW and Superior Camo trip was easy. Without camo was almost as easy. Did get hit by tentacle thing on ceiling, couldn't target it either, but only got my blood sucked for one bubble of hp's. From Fungus Grove gated back.
Rinsed and repeated 6 times before the faction change was enough for the locals to how me anything but the EXIT, LOL.
Clearly melee classes have to do all the running and it will take a longer period of time to complete as many as may be needed.
I have found that certain NPC's will talk to me where they would not before having completed this quest.

Even though it may be nerfed now, hopefully if they fix it, it should be somwhat useful in the future so i would still like to get it anyway but i can't find Sateal. I've hunted all over the bazaar for him with no luck. And if you could tell me how to get to Echo Cavern too would be nice.

When you enter the bazaar go to the big building in the center with the many merchants. if you go in the door from the bank side he is on the right standing on the wall hope this helps :)
Essentially worthless now....best bet may be to repeat the quest a number of times for the faction hits you do get for each phase...otherwise as stated...Amulet is pretty much of little value.

On Bertox this amulet still works I put it on and prices go down. Bought a Slime Coated Harpoon was 581pp without amulet and 502pp after I put amulet on.

The prices go down because of the +CHA on the item. This item has +2 to CHA. If I replace a neck piece with +3 CHA with the Trader's Amulet, the prices actually go *up*, so there is no faction adjustment going on.
If the prices go UP when you have higher cha, it stands to this tank, that faction adjustments are working. Cause with my enchanter, higher cha = lower prices. At least, that is how it is SUPPOSED to work.

Yep, this is virtually junk now. I did this quest with both my characters because the reward was a very nice item that would come it handy when selling/buying as well as when quests came about. I figured they put it in to help people out in getting 'ally' faction for some quests.
Oh well. I guess I will keep it as it may become needed for a quest in Shadowhaven some day but for the most part, it is junk now.

It's worse. Now, I'm getting no faction adjustment at all in SH with merchants. A post on the quest itself quotes a GM as saying that the bug is related to race/class/deity combos. I'm HUM/WAR/Agnostic.

That said, I disagree that this is "useless". First off, The Bazaar is a very convinient zone to sell in, and it's nice to have the merchants there give you better prices. Also, this affects prices with the merchant that sells HORSES, and I would think that shaving a few percent off of THOSE prices is anything but worthless! Once they fix the bug, this will be a very handy item to keep right next to my goblin voodoo doll from Kunark. ;-)

Yes this does work in places like Freeport. I did this quest with my Mage alt. She can't buy in Freeport. I gated her back there and with the amulet she can buy and sell there now. I haven't checked to see if it modifies enough to be non KOS though.

This does in fact raise faction outside of Shadow Haven. However, it does not raise faction for Indiferent or above, even in Shadow Haven. Also, I found sometimes scowling will stay scowling if they hate you enough, other times I've raised scowling to threateningly. I haven't tried the neck piece outside of Luclin yet. Next time I'm back on good 'ol Norrath I'll try it on and see how it works. If it does work, I can see how this will help, especially for a ToV raid and you're still threateningly to dragons, throw the amulet on, you're instantly non-KOS.

This does work outside..I took Eberk to Shar Vahl(Cat City) and my faction was raised with the cats..when I took it off it lowered..So it does work outside of Haven...Wonder if it works on Norrath..Might try a Cabilis run..If so Verant will nerf these but since we have them before nerf we should not have any probs...well good hunting and safe journey to all.

I'm in the middle of this quest and was wondering is it hard to get to Thar is Fungusgrove? I am only 44 and I hear that zone is 50+. Anyone have that info?
He is in a village you reach just inside the zone from Echo Caverns. I've not seen any aggro mobs there. Guards are patrolling the village, and there are vendors as well.

I have done this once by myself and 2 more times showing people. Its not a problem. I am a 27 monk. The only thing to watch out for are the tentacle things in the ceiling on the way to fungus grove. If you get to close they will root you and suck your life. Which really hurts.

It does alter factions outside of SafeHaven as well. In fungus grove I went from Apprehensive with the tormak's to indifferent when wearing the amulet.
