It's pretty easy to farm the dragons in WW. And you only need one group. It helps if they're mostly 58+, but you can do it with a couple of mid 50's too. -Apollyon, test edit: should prolly have a 60 warrior to tank and you'll have to have someone to slow, but other than that it's not too hard.
Considering the lvl and group size you need to have to take down named dragons in WW... I would think that most tanks would have somewhere along the lines of cobalt vambraces, or champions at least... which would make these, good twinky gear ;) I swear WW is like uber guilds twink factory.
Our guild is far from "uber", and we hunt with 2-3 groups. Reinforced drops off the weakest dragons, so it's not really that difficult to attain. It's a good armor in general, nice for filling out slots where you might have lesser equip.
Vitaela, Hechaeva, Yeldema (forgive spelling errors, not 100% sure) are some of the weaker ones I recall. None of them have the AoE fear(that we have fought anyway), and one has no AoE at all.
Our guild (far from uber btw, just very well-oiled) does these dragons with 2 groups, sometimes only a single group. The trick is to find a pull spot with no roamers (yes, there are spots like this). A 57+ warrior is optimal for main tank, but we have been successful using just a lvl 55 warrior. All of our groups have average gear btw, very few with kunark/velious BPs, etc. On a typical hunt in WW, lasting for 3 hours or so, we average 4 or 5 peices of dragon(hide/spine/etc) gear, 7-10 high-level spells, 3-4 peices of dragon meat, and usually 2 or 3 talismans. Of all the dragons we ever killed here, only one was without loot, and some have dropped up to 5 items at once.
It is essential that the main tank fight the pulls solo for at least 10 seconds before others engage. Wait even longer if there are fewer people fighting. As long as that main tank stays at the top of the dragon's hate list (and the clerics keep him alive), these guys can be taken down without trouble. That means rangers, wizards, SKs, pallies (like myself), rogues, secondary tanks,.. they all need to be very mindfull of the amount of taunt they generate. Once the dragon starts ping-ponging, the fight is pretty much lost.
For all dragons but Yeldema, instant-click items (jboots, 8th ring, etc) are very useful since the AE is Cold+Dispell or Fire+Dispell.
The dragons we kill (and their level/special attack) are: 1) Yeldema. This one is 52, with no AE attack. Easiest, and a good one to start with to get the team warmed up. 2) Hachaeva. This one is 54, AE Cold/Dispell. 3) Mazi. This one is 54, AE Fire/Dispell. 4) Gafala. This one is 54, AE Fire/Dispell. 5) Pantrilla. This one is 53, AE Cold/Dispell. 6) Bratavar. This one is 53, AE Cold/Dispell. 7) Vitaela. This one is 53, AE Cold/Dispell.
We avoid the other dragons because they are much higher level (60+), and most others will Gate or GFlux.
This zone is so much fun to fight in. I think its probably my favorite place to raid, something about getting my revenge on all those times Naggy/Vox tore me a new sphincter. One word of caution however,... the faction hit to Yelinak and ClawsOfVeeshan is very significant. 10-15 dragons will easily take you from kindly to dubious.
