Actually a relatively good cultural

First off, the trivial on these is 228. The unimbued version is 215.

Now, while the stats are none to impressive, the boots are reasonable but its use come from the fact that it helps bridge the velious tailoring gap.

Once you hit 158 tailoring the only way to raise tailoring is with velious armor which you have a VERY slim chance of being successful with as it all trivials above 250 skill. If you are a halfling or wood elf, you have things good because cultural tailoring makes the gap much easier. While it is a pain to get the components for this, it is far easier and cheaper than velious tailoring components. To top things off, halflings have a cheaper cultural tailoring than wood elves. Halflings require misty acorns which are both a ground spawn and foraged in Misty Thicket. Meanwhile, Wood Elves have to use Mithril Ore which is much more expensive and use Morning Dew which used to be a lot easier to get than they are now. Supposedly it is a ground spawn too, but in a MUCH larger zone than misty thicket.

And back to stats, I can't think of any cultural armor for any race that is really worth it for the time and money required to get it. At very least, cultural tailoring makes it easier to get to velious tailoring which there is a substantial market for the high end items, unlike the other trade skills except for jewelcraft.

Cultural Dark Elf imbued adamantite plate is definately worth the effort. Imbued Mithril Plate is definately worth the effort. Imbued Steelsilk is definately worth the effort.

None of the cultural leathers are worth the effort, except to skill up. Alot of the Cultural armors that cannot be enchanted are also not worth the effort (ogre plate/splint and iksar Chain).

Thats something that makes say 'Hmmm'. Why is it that Dwarves can have their armor enchanted, and orges and iksar cannot? Last I checked, none of them could be enchanters...

If it were easier to get up to 240+ skill, I would say that you are correct that DE and HE cultural is worth the effort. However, the stats on Steelsilk just are no where near the trouble and cost it requires in its current incarnation.

DE cultural really is very good armor but the imbued and enchanted versions require a skill of 240+ to have a good shot at making them, and require you to find 2 essence of shadows per attempt, the elf blood is just a minor hinderance at such a point.

HE cultural is in a similiar position except for the fact that it requires Morning Dew, Swirling Mists, and 2 Essence of Moonlight, none of which seem to be easy to come across anymore, particularly for High Elves who can't forage the dew themselves.

Ultimately, the time and cost it takes to get high enough to make this armor, makes it such that you could be getting better drop armor by the time you can make cultural, thus, the only ones that really are helpful beyond sating some desire to raise your skill this high, are the halfling and wood elf culturals because they are used to bridge the gap to velious tailoring. Of course, Verant wants to bridge the tailoring gap, making it easier to reach high tailoring skill, and thus drasticly reducing the prices that the high end pieces can be sold for because there will be significantly more people who can get their skill to grandmaster.

I'm gonna have to agree with the guy who posted his opinion three times. While the studded armor is nice while you're in your high 20's - low 30's, the reinforced armor is kinda crappy.

To get the sewing kit in itself is a quest. In fact, I spent 6 weeks (on and off) just trying to find a high level halfling smith. Luckily, I had the ore before they changed (nerfed) runnyeye ore drops.

Once you get the sewing kit, you need HQ brute hides, which still do not stack, and weight 5.0 each. I'm encumbered after looting two of these.
You also need steel bonings, which are easy to make if you've got some smithing training.

Then there is the tannin. The Vale acorns are groundspawns in Misty Thicket. If you're lucky, you can get about 5 an hour. Or you can trade buffs to newbies for them. Thats how I usually do it. Once, I had a level one rogue that wanted to charge me 100pp per stack. Since then, newbies have been charging 1pp each acorn. Remember, this is something you pick up off the ground. You don't need a foraging skill, and you don't have to kill anything.

All this extra work, and all we get is 1 more AC per piece. Hell, the trivial on this stuff is 150+, so it's not even good for training up because of all the time collecting the items. Wu's silk is much easier.

There's a rumor going around that some of the cultural armor is going to get upgraded. Probably on a risk/reward system, but I hope they at least bump up the stats to +3 STA/WIS. That would be a bit better, and I could actually sell some pieces.

Although these have fine stats the time and money it takes to get it to the skill you need isn't worth it. Halflings get screwed with this terrible cultural
