Abysmal Sea vendor
# May 03 2004 at 7:35 PM Rating: Decent
These are now available for purchase off of a vendor in the Abysmal Sea. I'll try and look up the name tonite, but I've been purchasing them in droves for my monk.

The merchant's name is Ermden Nermuzo and does not show up in the FIND window. He's standing outside in the lower part of the NE section of the ship loc P463, N253.
stacks
# Jan 22 2004 at 3:21 AM Rating: Default
they stack, and end up costing roughly 5-6 gold at cost. the range is great, and especially for monk if you can get a good wt reduc bag to hold them in. mine say 2 weight, but considering shurikens are .5 wt, and the ones i made were 2 wt, only taking on 3 additional wt if i get 100% bag to hold extras, while gaining about 140 range. to me, thats invaluable to a monk to be able to pull that much further, even if it does sacrifice a little AC. oh well, my monk is still well under the limit for now.
Triv
# Jul 09 2002 at 9:39 AM Rating: Decent
they changed the triv, something like 60 or 62 now

Check EQ Traders Corner, there are listings for shops that sell javelin molds in just about every city except Grobb, Oggok and Kelethin.
Rogue Toy
# Nov 30 2001 at 10:27 AM Rating: Default
Very good rogue toy. My 18 rogue can crit for 15 and deadly for 30 on store bought throwing knives. So I imagine these things in the hands of a rogue with high dex and maxed throwing skill can cause some decent damage from a long way away.
Should be stackable
# Nov 30 2001 at 5:55 AM Rating: Default
Edit:
Ack when did they become stackable? I bought some in Thurg and they weren't
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 01 2001 at 8:53 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) haha your rogue is weak...286 is the number to beat and your 48 i was backstabbing for 300 at lvl 40 (str 200 unbuffed) you need better stuff hehe
RE: Should be stackable
# Nov 30 2001 at 6:42 AM Rating: Good
Only the player made javelins (forged) are stackable, the store bought javelins are not.
Very popular with Rogues.
# Nov 30 2001 at 4:09 AM Rating: Excellent
The real users for the Forged Javelins and Throwing axes are Rogues and Monks. With ranges of 205 and 125 respectively, they are pretty much viable compared to low to mid end bows/arrows. Add to the fact that they are relatively trivial to make with the Blacksmithing tradeskill.

Javelins cost approximately 5 gold and some change (1 plat for metal sheet + 1 silver for mold + 1 water = makes 2 javelins). Throwing axes costs 2 gold + change per throw (1 plat + 1 silver for axe mold + 1 water = makes 5 axes). Not exactly the cheapest thing on Norrath but much better than the store bought stuff and about par with the some of the high value arrows rangers love to use.
Beastlord???
# Nov 27 2001 at 10:19 PM Rating: Default
What I want to know is if a Beastlord will be able to use them. I wonder about how a Beastlord will be able to pull very well.

Also, just let me take a moment to vent a bit.
Twoedge of the Omenborn guild on E'CI is a KSing prick!

If you're a beast, use a spell to pull.

They may ONLY be 2 pounds, but, to a Monk, that's 1/7th to 1/9th of their total weight allowance, depending on level. Even if you have weight reducing bags, that doesn't help out when you have to have one in your range slot. Then, you have to have at least one in your ammo slot, so, there's 4 pounds....

I equip one at a time for my monk, the rest being in my Evil Eye bag. Even then, I'm right at the weight limit.

For Rogues, that's a different matter. They rock for Rogues. The Anonian Javelins have a 250 range, if you are a Human and make them in Qeynos.

Now, if they could change the graphics so they don't tumble like a throwing knife......

Ok, a couple of things to help you out... the weight of stackable items is the same at 1 or 20, ie if the item says weight 1 and is stackable, 20 weighs the same as 1... also, if you put something like fishing grubs in your ammo slot, they weigh almost nothing, and you can keep a stack in your range slot only.. it will say "you are out of ammo" but you are not as long as some remain in that stack

Remember, a stack of something has the same weight as 1 item, so 1 or 20 still weights 2 stone. These are awesome for a rogue, same range as a decent bow/arrow combo, plus we have the ability to crit/cripple with thrown weapons, I am surprised not every rogue uses these, I know I do.

These are obviously made by smiths, and are quite useful in special pulling situations. They trivial at 80 and here's the recipie:

(1)javelin mold,
(1)sheet metal, and
(1)water flask

Combine in a forge. A success will yield two javelins. Hope this helps!
WOW
