Seriously.. 50% for somone at 250... 1k+ per attempt.. average 2 attempts at 50% and a little profit for the creaters time and you are talking 2250+.... not even close to worth it for those stats.. low int.. low mana boost... sv magic 5 is nice but if they are gonna make it so damn hard to create they should at least make it worth your while
I am personally hoping that with the new expansion and new creatures there will be some new tailoring that will help bridge this gap. I think considering the cost per attempt, I would hold all of my goodies like the silks until I found out and see if I can raise my skill in a less expensive manner. Just a thought, and not long to wait either.
Well, finally there is some new stuff that we dedicated tailors get to make....err or not. Level 250? Only 50% success rate? Crapp! You would think that verant would make something available to all so they could bridge that big gap right after 158. Very nice stuff though. Unfortuntely, I don't play a caster so I have no clue as to if this is really worth the effort and material to make. How much should it be sold for? What does the farmed silks price at? Are there better dropped items out there or is this something that is really worth making? If it is then verant may have redeemed themselves a little.
While I am not a tailor myself, my betrothed is, and his tailoring skill is currently at 242. He tried 4 attempts on Ice silk at 224 and failed them all. Due to the extreme cost of such attempts, and the rarity of the silk, he is waiting to get to 250 before attempting anymore.
And here is why: Most Velious tailored items (if not all) trivial over 250, but we have seen a marked increase in successes on these items from 225+. Given that ice silk is supposedly harder to make than other velious armors (based on successes vs. attempts on ice silk from other tailoring folks at different skill levels) and based on the success rates we've documented on other velious armors, I would surmise that whoever did make these items has a skill level approximating 250, and probably attempted at least 10 combinations to get the success.
Understand, this is an educated guess and not fact, but I wanted to share with you all as I feel our past experiences with Velious tailoring have given us some understanding of the difficulty of each item.
Good luck to all the tailors out there! -Lanorra Wolfdancer Druid of the 54th season Warriors of Living Force Seventh Hammer
i was wondering. Is there anyone who has actually GOTTEN 250 tailoring skill? How do we know that all this stuff is triv post 250 if no one has ever tried it? some of it could be trivial at 249 for all we know. Well that's just my 2cp ;)
component: -1) vial of purified mana (4 ruby plus a poison vial) -2) 1 ice burower silk swash (Ice burower silk drop from lv62 mob in WW as uncomon drop) -3) 1 gold thread (bought in Thurgadin for 220pp with max faction-charisma) -4) 1 sash patern (duh)
Succes? Well to be honest unknown, since the only person that have been trying these is DenMother to complete her suit on eqtraders.com, i would guess it's about the same as leather, witch mean 40-50% succes at 250skill.

All ice silk armor trivials post 250 skill. Basically its a gamble to try it at 250. You need swatches of ice burrower silk, which you can get the silk from ice burrowers in Western wastes.
