Does anyone look at the dates on these posts...at the time, this might have been one of the best for WIS casters, now that Luclin, PoP, LoY, LDoN have come out, perhaps it's not...what is uber to one person may not be to another. Everyone should adhere to their own definition of what is best and not try to tell others how to equip or play their character...just my 2cp worth.
RE: What planet are you on?

I don't know about anyone else, but for myself I'd choose this over the Earring of Veracity. Flowing Thought III is indeed more valuable to me than additional stats. When I am in combat, it's about balancing my mana useage with my ability to generate it. Even if my mana pool is larger, I will still run out of mana unless I match use to regeneration.

With this earring, the mana regeneration rate is higher, and therefore so is my buff/heal/damage output. Also, once players are at the level were getting EITHER earring is even a possibility, WIS is usually maxed out, so the higher WIS stat often isn't that signifigant. WIS items are easier to come by than FT III items.

Edit: Here's an example of an item that is valuable despite its stats:

Sweet earning for wis casters, but if you are a follower of Tunare there is an alternative to killing your Goddess.
The Wood Elf Cultural Armour!!
The stats for the Druid armour are as follows:
Gorget: ac 6; wis 5; agi 5; hp 25; mana 25
Mask: ac 8; wis 5; agi 5; hp 30; mana 30
Shoulderpads: ac 8; wis 5; agi 5; hp 30, mana 30
Gloves: ac 9; wis 5; dex 5; hp25; mana 25
WristGuard: ac 9; wis 5; hp 30; mana 30; plus 5 to all saves
Cap: ac 9; wis 5; mana 30; sta 5; hp 30
Boots: ac 9; dex 5; wis 5; hp 30; mana 30
Belt: ac 10; wis 10; hp 40; mana 40
Sleeves: Ac 11; wis 5; hp 30; mana 30
Cloak: ac 11; sta 5; wis 10; mana 40; hp 40
Tunic ac 21; wis 10; mana 40; hp 40; sta 10
Leggings: ac 15; wis 10; mana 40; hp 40; sta 5
all have a recomended lvl of 45 and can be worn by elf or half-elf

As you can see the belt alone is equal to the extra wis the earing grants. Taken all together and they raise wis plus 55. So there is an option available if you dont want to kill good ol' Tunare ;) Of course, the earing does have that spiffy focus effect and the armour doesn't, but if all you want is the added wis then I say go for the armour. Just my 2cp.

Ranger's also have a set, but it only raises wis plus 25.

Oh, and the armour is crafted using tailoring, although a high smithing skill helps too for all that pesky mithril you will need.

PoG Faction FIX!
# Dec 30 2002 at 1:24 AM Rating: Excellent
There is actually a way to fix PoG faction you know...at least now that PoP is out...but u must have every expansion (Kunark, Velious, Luclin, PoP). There is a druid in PoP that is on indiferent faction to everybody, UNLESS you kill him...which I suggest not doing :) *smiles*. His name is "Stormwarden Elrick Growthguardian" or something close to that. Hail him, and go through a big conversation (he might not be up if someone else did this quest already, cause he depops for like 24 hours). at the end he gives you a bag, and tells him to get get him 10 items, blah blah blah. get him the ten items (actually kinda hard to get, but worth it since u get max ally with all the factions that you lose for killing Tunare) and combine them in the bag. Hand him the combined bag, and he gives you a note to tunare. But he also says something like "if you worship the mother, but have [betrayed her], please tell me. say, I have betrayed her, and he will give you another note, and ask for the first note back. Give him the first note, and he will give you a bag with 4 slots. He tells you to combine the 3 Cleansed spirits of Norrath (yes, the druid epic pieces, Cleansed Spirit of Kunark, Antonica and Faydwer) and the note in the bag(look up druid epicm to find out how to get the cleansed spirits. epic name is "Nature Walker's Scimitar" BTW). Give him the combined bag, and he will give you an earring of rededication.l now your PoG faction will go up, and you will be dubious! Go to PoG and give Tunare the earring of rededication, and she will give you a "Half Filled Parchment". She tells you that if you wish to be trusted by her once again, you must find the evil power that is trying to destroy her and kill it, and bring her back his head, a Glowing Feather Ink Pen, a spectral parchment from one of the Planes in PoP, and the "Half Filled Parchment" she gave you. Wait in PoG for a long time at the port in.. longer... come on, a bit longer... just a little longer... you're almost there... WOOT!!! Growth Assassin spawned! Kill him, and that is the head. Bring all those items to her for max faction to all lost factions!

Is that a joke or are you just insane? There is not a snowballs chance in hell im going to redo the druid epic just for tunare faction! Oh wait not just the druid epic, I also have to gather 10 items, kill some odd spawn in PoG and give up a spectral parchment which are about as common as jimmy hofa sightings.

No, the guy who wrote about killing Tunare is right. I shouldn't have to kill the God I worship to get the best WIS caster earring in game. Lemme see, I should choose a religion, do quests based on it, receive spells as gifts from my God, start out in a city that worships that God, or has a lot of followers who do...etc...killing Tunare as a woof elf druid...means I can never return to Kelethin or Felwithe, or Surefall....BUT HELL! I'll have this earring right? And I'll just be screwed for the rest of eternity. he's not saying role play, he's saying that if Verant wishes you to choose a religion, they should make it possible for people to receive a nice item, without going against everything their char supposedly stands for.

See ranja tunare only armor and you get screwed over in items. Least you have options, halfings rangers don't. So either kill your bark elf you got and make de cleric or evil race shaman and get BEST WIS EARRING, lol, in game or suck up and accept your weaknesses and draw backs. I sure have had to suck up getting adds on a runner many a times. But, I don't cry cause by time I get a weapon that I can snare with I have aa skill for pet to proc it. I zone and lose completely buffed pet, that takes alot of mana to raise up into fighitng form. I mean i burn 1k mana on 3 pet spells, summoning warder, hasting, and casting proc. Add other buffs it upsets me to have to zone because of add and is major set back. But hey, I got a bad **** loyal poochy I would chase mobs down through adds any day. So if i gave up ability to root/snare mob, outside 59 aa, for my warder to be as bad **** as it is, I happily accept that deal. And see sk or necro epic, it has you drop cazic for his blood and innoruk for is eye. And one of them may be for necro epic and other sk epic don't recall completely, either way it is evil race/class having to kill their god for their EPIC. Something one should surely have right to their epic without killing their god. But because your god drops an item that you see as the best item for that slot it's lets flame Verant/SOE or just SOE, as it is now, for not letting it drop elsewhere. Well, why the hell would Cazic have a earring of Tunare orgin and makes sense to get best wis gear, kill what you see as wisdom based gods. I personally would slaughter anything and everything for uber gear, but hey maybe that the Cazicite in me. As for being kos somewhere, PoP made it where kos is not so bad.

you get faction for just being in the area when killing in PoG if you grouped with people who are. and also. none of those factions matter. quit whining. you kill your god for some nice stuff because guess what, SHE'S A GOD! she's the ultimate caster of your diety and you take her down to get some nice gear. if you hate it so much just dont do it.

You can easily fix Kelethin/Surefall/Feliwthe faction, however you will always be KoS with the Plane of Growth once you ruin that faction. Easiest way to fix most of Kelethin and Felwithe is the muffin quest in Freeport, just turn in several backpacks worth of muffins. As for the roleplay aspect, yeah, its pretty twisted killing Tunare to get this as a Tunare follower.

There are other nice items. You probably shouldn't kill your god to get the one she has, and you aren't required to get this particular item. You just sound really greedy.

Besides that, you don't actually have to participate in her death. Tunare worshippers go on PoG raids all the time, for downtime support. They don't fight anything and they don't heal or buff at all during battle so they don't take the faction hits.

Really people, there ARE better things in this game, as a Woodie Druid I do follow Tunare (duh) BUT I do intend to go on PoG raids for items like this, once I get my epic, and some of the other cool stuff that drops, my good friend is one of the best raid leaders I know, he does PoG every friday and sunday. If you want something uber like this, go to Vex`Thal or Akheva.. what? you're not good enough to go there? STOP WHINING THEN. so what? you can fix your faction with everything except PoG, and it's not like you're going to find the pained unicorn around every tree in Gfay.. You won't live a life of fear.. Besides, you only have to get near the druid/ranger guild to aggro them, the guards are on entirely different faction.. Pretty elf lady or not, I still intend to kill her cause I want that earring..

It's a shame to see that there is no longer any sense of role-playing in EQ.

Hopefully EQ2 will change things, but somehow I doubt it.
RE: Nixoh is right...
# May 22 2003 at 6:36 AM Rating: Decent
If roleplaying being dead in EQ the main thing that shames you about game, you must have low morals. Cause that the plaguer right there. No one truely thinks of the other person behind the pc. ***** a fake god, in a fake world, which is in a game. That Sumakis Damighty or what ever could be your neighbor, your service man, or the one that would give his life one day in effort to save you or a loved one. Playing in a fun and friendly environment makes EQ a hella more fun then roleplay. That just makes me want to slap my friend ogre in back of head and say speak where I can understand you. But, roleplay does add to game, but being as serious about it as you seem to be, ruins it. I played fv server a long while and roleplaying to point of disliking someone based on class/race is stupid and the shame of EQ. But, we entitled to our opinions some just stupider then others, because no opinions are facts.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree with the person who said you'd be screwed for all eternity. As someone else already mention, you can fix your faction but to me the big thing is, how often to you go back to the little tree city anyway? Not sure about ne1 else but I haven't been there since they stopped selling the spells I need. It'd be kinda inconvienient but I'd certainly rather have some of that gear.

Tunare, My God
# Jun 28 2002 at 6:17 PM Rating: Decent
Here's what i imagine my druid, Visot, would have a convo with Tunare about this item:

"Oh Mother Tunare, I have been worshiping you ever since i gave my enrollment letter to my guild leader. I have traveled throughout Norrath and the moon of Luclin searching for the best equipment possible to increase my casting abilities you have blessed me with. But yet, i have found that you are the possessor of the best earring possible for me in my opinion. But i dare not harm your beautiful being."

"Visot, you have been a wonderful Druid and have protected the world for me to the best of your ability. You have defeated evil in face of death. I applaude your persistence in aquiring the best equipment to enhance yourself. If you want to prove to me that you are capable to being the best Druid to protect Norrath and all her creation, fight me and show me your power!"

"Tunare my mother, i cannot harm you. I can live without the earring, it is not something that i will dread never owning. If the cost to getting the earring is your death, i will not possess the earring."

"Visot, attack me now! You must show to all of Norrath that you are worthy to be the next ultimate Druid. I know it pains you and all of my other worshippers that i may die in this battle, but if someone is able to protect Norrath better than me, I'd like to be the approver of it."

Tunare strikes Visot for 400 points!

It may sound kinda cruel or unrealistic to roleplaying to some, but that's how i picture Tunare to be if that situation came about.

An Open Request to Verant
# Apr 01 2002 at 11:46 AM Rating: Good
Please, everyone feel free to respond with your thoughts on this issue. I will re-post this to the areas that seem most appropriate, but the original post is in the discussion area for the Golden Leaf Earring: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=7026

Verant/SOE, I've been an EverQuest player for a couple of years now, and a role player for well over a decade. One of my largest problems with role playing in EverQuest has always been the emphasis on ignoring your characters' motivations in favor of getting good loot.

A perfect example is the sort of loot that drops from one's deity. A High-Elf cleric who worships Tunare, for example, would be at a disadvantage with respect to any other players because it's their God who carries the best earring in the game for WIS casters. The obvious solution: kill your own God. Heck, it doesn't hurt your spell-casting ability. It doesn't hurt your faction so much that it can't be repaired. Why not?

The answer should be role playing, but Verant has seemingly worked very hard to make this a less than attractive option.

With the upcoming release of Planes of Power, I'd like to make a request, and I'm making it publicly so the community can join me in speaking up. Please make sure that when someone's deity offers excellent loot, there's either an equivalent item available elsewhere for the worshipers of that deity, OR the deity offers a quest to their worshipers to attain the item.

Perhaps you could even turn this into the next line of epic-like quests. Certainly, using the Golden Leaf Earring as an example, it would be well worth performing a quest that took a fair amount of time and culminated in the killing of a Tunare-opposing deity. Making it harder to "do the right thing" would not be as much of an issue as making it detrimental to the character in the long run.

The deity problem is only one example of the lack of role playing incentive, but it is an important one. Others include: Luclin Class Armors fail to incite cooperation because of poor risk/reward and lore status on Jewels (which are difficult to collect in the first place). These should have been the showpiece of Luclin's draw for player cooperation and trading; I've personally never witnessed a GM event that stressed role playing over hack-n-slash, though I hear they have been done.

I'm not saying that the game should not provide the hack-n-slash player with opportunities. I'm just saying that the dedicated role player should also find the game attractive.

Thank you, and I look forward to the future of EverQuest.

What better roleplay than the God has the best item for that class? You don't have to have the best of everything after all, leave some scaps for the Gods.

Hell thank your lucky stars for Tuna I dont see any Karana quests much less the diety manifest in the game. Course it looks like Special K may be coming w/ PoP.

Well said, Nixoh. I also find it curious that some on the Verant staff seem to go out of their way to make it almost impossible to RP against the higher level mobs. However, the only obvious choice we have is never to participate in a raid on the Mother! That being said...I agree with you that there should be equivalent wis items available to us that can be looted off the minions of evil and the gods they serve.

As far as having you able to quest these things instead of killing off the gods for it, that is where choice comes in. If you want to Roleplay, that is GREAT, but really, you should think in terms of RP then.

Tunare is a WIS caster, and a God. She should have the VERY best of WIS caster items, hence if you kill her, your plunder is good for them. The other Gods are SKs, Rogues and more. They have loot corresponding to their classes. You grasp that nicely, easy point anyway.

Now you say let you quest for the items. But the thing is, they are what your God wears. You are to revere them, place them on a pedestle and admire them from afar. You are NOT supposed to try and become better than they are. It makes no sense for them to provide you with their own items. They are your God, sure, some little items would be nice, but like heck if I am going to give you MY armor if you follow me, I should be better than you, or I should follow you.

Yes, more RP stuff would be nice, especially if it involved just 1 group of friends to do, instead of a raid of insanely equiped people. I also happen to LIKE ulthork armor. If verant made all the armor have bonuses AND disabilities, you would have much more choice in your equipment, and game balance would be almost trivial to attain, since for every plus you have a minus. People would specialize themselves to fit play styles. But with all the 3246136ac and 2335 to all stats and saves items out there, so often a guild that is NICE and POLITE is stripped of vital classes and high levels who simply want to see all of the game they bought and join an Overpowered guild.

# Nov 24 2001 at 12:05 AM Rating: Default
Hi. For all those ******** about Tunare followers killing Tunare, let's take a little look at the facts, shall we?

Druid class: Well, as I recall, Humans, Half Elves, Wood Elves, and yes... halflings... can be druids. The two Dieties are Karana and Tunare. So sorry, but Karana followers are KOS there anyway. =) I'm sure some 733t little halfling druid is going to get their grubby paws on one and have no regrets wearing it. A human or half elf might have a second thought about wearing it if they worship Karana, but I realllly doubt it.

NOT ALL DRUIDS FOLLOW TUNARE.

Cleric: Well, as I recall, sure, there are high elf clerics of Tunare, but.. what happened to all those Clerics of Cazic Thule? Of Quellious, of Erollisi Marr? Of Prexus, whatever else gods? Including INNORUUK. Don't think that just because high elves are good clerics means only they can use this item. I see an ALL on the race.

NOT ALL CLERICS ARE TUNARE FOLLOWERS.

Shaman: Okay, lastly and importantly, kids, who can be shamans!? That's right! Barbarians, Iksars, Ogres, and Trolls! Even the new kitties. So far, I have not seen a SINGLE Tunare Following Shaman. Cazic Thule? Yes. Tribunal? Yes. Mithaniel Marr? Well, on that funny PVP RP server thing, yes. Innoruuk? Yes! Never ever ever Tunare, so sorry!

NO SHAMANS AS OF RIGHT NOW IN GAME FOLLOW TUNARE.

Now, you may want to consider it really screws up your faction to kill Tunare, but all you have to do is sacrifice a lot of time, patience, and your dark elf faction to get un KOS in the elven lands again. It has and can be done quite easily. I did it myself, took a couple weeks. Much easier than switching around Velious factions.

So quitcherbitchin, ladies and gents, and realize... that people ARE going to go after it who will NOT be murdering their own goddess. And people are going to succumb to the call of phat lewtz and gather forces to take down their goddess. :) Everyone knows Wood Elves can't resist shiny objects.

This is how Verant rewards goodie-two-shoes followers.. their goddess drops phat lewtz that they can't ever get unless they participate or encourage the death of her. :) Evil people are expected to kill their gods!

We may be looking at the dumbest woman alive......

Ummm, no #@$*! sherlock. I am a role player. My post was not directed at clerics of other gods, it was directed at Tunare followers. Since you treat this game like checkers and do not role play at all, nor do you read and understand what someone is trying to say in a post, perhaps you should try to keep your mindless squablings to yourself.

I was not ******** either; that sounds more like what you are doing. ITS CALLED ROLEPLAYING! God, you young people obviously do not remember an age before computers when we actually made characters on paper and rolled dice to see if we hit something. Ahh, when I read a post like yours, I truly miss those days. Perhaps as my Wood Elf Ranger I do not want to participate in killing my diety. Now wouldnt it be much more fun if a High Elf Paladin or Cleric killed Tunare and caused a civil war in Felwithe or Kelethin? The Ogres, seeing fraction among the elves, decide to attack Greater Faydark once again with their ancient allies the orcs. Wouldn't that all be fun. Too bad Verant doesn't do something like that, huh?

Instead we are left with people, like yourself, of small imagination who have to see something and flame it. Next time, since you are a Karana follower, why not have some fun with a post like mine. I dunno, maybe something like: I hate all you "goody-two shoes" elves and I hope your bum ugly goddess dies again and again. She doesn't have enough hair on her feet anyway, so who needs her!

Frankly, I dont care for a damn if you all wanna kill Tunare. But, when roleplaying my Tunare worshipping ranger, I find it pretty damn offensive. So I try to have some fun posting how I will kill all the Tunare traitors, and what do I get? IDIOTS!

You lost the battle when you clicked on the message title to reply.

Tunare has been killed at least 5 times on at least 3 servers. (Brell Serilis included)
Beware Traitorous Paladins (spit) and other Followers od Tun

My blade awaits all traitors to the Great Mother of All. You high priests who participate in her death will be tracked down and destroyed. Your flesh will be wrought from your bones and sold to Grobb! Death to any follower of Tunare who takes part in this vile sacrilege. It seems the forces of darkness grow stronger every day in Norrath. This Champion of Faydark will not accept it. If I get my hands on this item I will destroy it. I swear I will.

Religous test you say? My religous test will be defeating all Tunare traitors. Die Die Die.

why does everyone think this drops in chardok jesus chardok isnt the only zone in EQ it says right at the top of the page that it drops from TUNARE in POG
RE: why?

The reason being, this was originally listed as dropping in chardok, before it was corrected.

Don't jump down everyones throat if you dont know the facts, just makes you out to be a jerk.

Acquiring earing
# Nov 16 2001 at 10:51 AM Rating: Default
Wow this is amazing earing, if Tunare is my god how would i acquire this? I cant kill my GOD, can I? Thought that would really mess faction so much that playing the game would be difficult. Please give me some info_ I was led to believe that I wasn't able to kill anything IN PoG, because of the Faction Hit any info would be apprecitated.

You can kill anything on PoG you want. But you´ll be KoS in parts of Felwithe and Kelethin as a result of your faction hits.

To me it would be worth it. I´m a Tunare cleric, and neither Felwithe nor Kelethin has anything to offer me anymore. I´ve done the quests I needed to do in both places, all my high level spells are either NPC drops or bought in FV and if I need to see a guildmaster, I can go to Freeport or Kaladim.

If you don´t like the thought of being KoS in your home town, don´t do it. If you don´t care, then go for it! :-)

May Tunare smite you down, take all your powers, and may no other clerics of the All Mother offer to res you. Perhaps you should worship Innoruuk?

seems strange that there is no way of me as a PC to tell if this warrior or necro that wants a ride to some other druid ring has ever killed tunare or ever killed a treant.
there should be a way in the game to know if this person has done something that would make it to where i'd not want to port him if i felt like RPing.

Mwhahahahah!
At last my twisted plan has seen fruition! Even the vaunted altarboys of Tunare have forsaken their goddess and thrown over the traces! I *knew* that their devotion and prayers were just lipservice. They are in the end, just as evil as me...

So much for the "role playing" aspect of the game, what a pleasent way for a cleric to feel about his/her god. =p

Chardok is a good zone with some phat loot, but not that phat.
