98k is cheap. Ayonae it's going for 140k to 200k,
and is a top rated head item for a Ranger (i've got one :)

Bards are actually classed as a pure caster if you read the handbook, but not like Wiz, nec or mages.

Bards are primarily a hybrid of Enchanter/Warrior. However, they are given attributes of other classes as well, just to lesser degrees.

#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 07 2003 at 6:11 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) pallys make way better agro holders than an SK.
RE: Pallys are better
# Nov 28 2003 at 12:30 PM Rating: Default
It's not true Ralalorn. There is a big difference in SK vs Pally aggro. Pallys mostly get aggro through stun, which is a very high aggro spell. SKs have to use a lot of different spells to gain aggro very well. I would have to say that Pallys may have a very slight edge against a SK, but it's not very much. I've had aggro wars with every class in the game, and for the most part, none of them could even take aggro from me when I was willing to burn the mana. A Pally is the only one that could take it from me, but I would take it back from them with just a few moments and we'd end up trading it back and forth.

The main difference though is that to get really good aggro, an SK needs to have more skill and understand how their aggro works and know which spells to use when. There are a lot of SKs that never learn this, so they suck. Those of us that do learn it can aggro every bit as well as a Pally

No rangers are the best at giving up agro.
Jolt and Jolting blades work great.
Pull with Jolt. Anyone touching the mob will get aggro from you.

When you need to get agro (to save your healers life, or die tanking the mob because the group is potential wipe bait) then use tangling weeds, snare, proc'n dual weapons etc... cause that's what your there for.

When I group with my ranger I try to stay right on the edge of having agro. If the mob turns and hits me then I stop attacking and cast jolt to get him off so the tank can maintain. And ya I still pull agro sometimes with my 2hander..., but I know how to get rid of it too.
RE: Pallys are better
# Nov 26 2003 at 8:57 PM Rating: Default
One area I've found pally's to be superior in is in grabbing aggro from a number of mobs at once. Their group heals make great AE taunts, and can be a lifesaver to the primary healer.
RE: Pallys are better
# Nov 19 2003 at 4:22 PM Rating: Default
Ralalorn you must know some awful Shadow Knights. SK/Pally are almost equal as far as aggro is concerned... however, at lvl 65 the spell I use most for agro is my lvl 9 Clinging Darkness. At only 20 mana per cast it doesn't even move my mana bar, and 1 cast on inc is enough to allow a shaman, chanter to instantly slow it. Most times the mob is slow before I even get touched, and my slowers do not take damage. With about 4 more casts during the fight nobody will be getting hit for the duration. Also a side note Sparty... Harm Touch is almost zero agro, and also at a re-use time of 36 minutes at best it is never used for agro generation. And as for LoH when you are about to die as a pally i have but 2 words... Feign Death =)

# Nov 19 2003 at 4:23 PM Rating: Default
Oh yeah... not a bad helm =)
RE: Pallys are better
# Nov 14 2003 at 11:26 AM Rating: Default
No offense but SK and Pally's are about equal as far as getting/keeping aggro and I would say it solely depends on what type of mob you're trying to get the attention of.

All things being equal though, I would have to say SK's should and would (those that know what they're doing anyway) hold any aggro over Paladins because they can use Harm Touch to get it initially. And unless your Pally has weapons that are 3 times better than the SK's, you couldn't taunt enough in a regular fight to get it back.

But when you die...on your deathbed..you will have Lay on Hands going for you....which is nice.

>Their group heals make great AE taunts

No they dont sorry, healing aggro isnt that great especially low hybrid heals...

> because they can use Harm Touch to get it initially

No thx, id rather save my Harmtouch for something that is usefull and hold aggro with superior snap aggro spells.

May be an old post...but since you were quite wrong, I felt I should respond to it anyway so that newer people are not mislead.

Group heals *are* good aggro. Ask Blazzax, he agrees with me.

I had to learn when I could get away with using them in high end AE encounters, else I took aggro from the MT and promptly sploded. Not a good thing! Now that I'm used to it, it is no problem to keep my group healed/cured without swiping aggro, but the first couple fights after I started using Marr, I most certainly *did* feel lots of love.

So yes...group heals are good aggro. Especially in a group situation where your cleric gets a mob on 'em and starts getting pounded. Serves the purpose of aggro, and helping the cleric stay alive.

As for who is better between SK and Pal? Neither. It depends on the player. Both have excellent aggro control. The only advantage I see a paladin having really, is when the mob is actually stunnable. Not going anywhere for duration of stun. That's nice, but aggro itself is good for both.

# Apr 22 2003 at 12:17 AM Rating: Decent
While I hope to see this sweet helm on a main, unfortunately I have seen them being sold after alot of ring wars. Because the helm isn't level restricted, it is by far the best hybrid head slot twink item. Hopefully I will get one on my bsty soon, but would rather see it awarded to a main that attended the raid.

Not everyone is a twink, and some of us do bust our butts to get our mains decently equipped so we can better raid with you. But imho, twinking is fun, and I really don't want to go through being in newb gear all over again.

Sig outdated.
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 30 2003 at 1:46 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) mithril helm also isn't level restricted. no ft2, but 10 more AC, and 15 on each resist. eh... i'd say it's better.
sk's could definitely use this
# Feb 11 2003 at 8:40 PM Rating: Default
if you think this is a waste for an sk/pally you obviously havent grouped with an sk/pally that knows how to make themselves the most effective i get /tells all the time from past group members beggin me to join them for one simple reason nobody and i mean nobody can get agro back off a caster faster than an sk that has taken the time to learn the true potential of the voice and terror line of spells at lvl 53 voice of darkness on myself alone is enough to outagro ANY taunt and when a cleric does buy CH agro terror of death is a quick cast quick recover 450 points of hate any mob i have ever hit with this instantly forgets anybody and everybody but me the only downfall to this is it becomes almost impossible to get agro back off of me when im near dead but hey if i gotta die so the cleric lives to keep the rest of the group alive so be it after all i am a tank class that's my job

Woa, I tried reading that whole post outloud, and it took alot of wind outta me :) . But you're right, I think this is a fine helm for a Shadoknight. For me, having FT3 (1 from earring and 2 from this) would help me exponentally with Solo'ing. I've noticed that when I'm lucky enough to get extended clarity, I can solo effortlessly for an entire day, and make insane experience. In groups, this would enable me to throw out every detrimental spell I have mem'd through the durration of the fight, assuming I got a bit of downtime between rounds to med. The only problem is the rariety, and the price it results in.

Curiously wondering why people want 150k-250kpp for this item when it is almost as common as the Narandi Lance which goes for about 10k on Tunare /boggle.
RE: Hmm
# Oct 20 2003 at 6:50 AM Rating: Default
Lance drops in every successful ringwar. You only get the helm when a certain hero survives.
RE: Hmm
# Feb 06 2003 at 2:14 AM Rating: Decent
Because lance is not anymore as good as it used to be when compared to numbers of 2 handers since SoL came out, it's not even 1/1 ratio... not saying it's not good, but when there are another to compare with, price goes down as lance becomes more available...

Helm on the other hand - FT2 and 25AC alone beats alot of helms out there, especially for beastlord and ranger.. do a head item check for the said 2 classes and you have an idea. Chances are you wont see too many people selling this either unlike the lance, they rather keep it/ transfer to another char in most case.
RE: Hmm
# Apr 25 2003 at 7:17 AM Rating: Default
it's because this is rarely sold. if it's one of the usable classes who gets up to the 10th ring, i would hope their guild would let them keep this very fine helm.

This is a crown, therefore, no graphic. I won it last night in roll on the Ayonae Ro Server - sweet head piece. I was wearing a crown from the 2000 Halloween GM event - nice upgrade - but STILL no headpiece graphic =( The FT II is a nice assist for me (46 Pally) to help with heals from time to time.

He never has the helm on him. He only drops the Head of Narandi. The other rewards are a matter of specifically which dwarf commanders are alive at the end of the fight. After you turn in the head for your 10th ring, you get the head back, and go from commander to commander handing it to them. Each hands you back the head plus one item. Each commander you keep alive is another item gained at the end. I forget which gives you the crown, but I think it's either Garadain or Dobbin.

Um reality check here...... WTF are you doing? You are doing the same thing you acuse other people of doing. What do you actually sit at your computer desk waiting for a response to your flames so you yourself can spend another 5 minutes of your life to write a response?

What gives you the right to decide what someone can and cant do? It obviously troubles you to no end that somebody is posting on these forums but yet you find and irrisitable fascination to do the same.

So Get your head out of your wife's *** take your kids to Mc'donalds and forget you even saw this webpage. Because you obviously enjoy bringing missory to others you self righteous ignorant spore of a baboons *****

Now what would really impress me is if you found the sense of control not to respond to this post. I know its in you somewhere. Seeing as how that it is a waist of prescious time.

So in closing i would like to say please for all that is good I hope you are venting on this board and not on your wife and child. God help their souls. Because if this is the true indication of your actions IRL then you my friend are the the one who really has no life. Dont spread the disease of your hatred. Grab a hammer and take out your (sexual?) frustrations on your Computer. Maybe then you can feel you have a purpose in your pathetic life.

# Nov 11 2001 at 8:24 PM Rating: Good
I agree this is one piece of loot. Be happy that pally/sk get this item. It wil help them while you group or raid with them. 25ac 50 hp/mana is nice. The fact that only pallies and sk use means that more will be on the market. They sell for 100k on my server. Uberguild X that does this quest often on my server has very few pally/sk, meaning the lances and helms get sold now.

Bottom line is don;t covet other classes items, concentrate on what you can use. Will be alot more productive. I suppose seeing a cleric in a breastplate with aura of battle effect and no wis or mana would really make them mad.

What a stupid argument
# Nov 11 2001 at 5:39 AM Rating: Decent
OMG, this is a stupid argument. Look, this is a GREAT helm for any SK or Pali (except in a raid situation needing better resists, but still great all around).

The FT2 is NOT the main stat on the helm, it's a little added bonus. This is an awesome helm, 25ac, 8 to melee stats, 8 to wis/int, 4 sv all, 50hp/mana, what an AWESOME helm, a lot better than my umbral helm I'll tell ya that. FT2 is like nearly the least of all the mods on this helm.

The FT2 doesn't help all that much (2 mana per tick) but it does help a little bit. It's not gonna help as much as the ac or those melee stats or that 50 mana/hp or that wis/int or those resists. People blow one part of an item out of proportion and it drives me nuts. It's like there's a little proc on a weapon and the ONLY argument seen about the weapon is on how worthless the weapon is because it's a crummy proc, even though the ratio is awesome, I mean COME ON.

Ok, end of rant, great item, me want! Sorry, had to get that in there :)
RE: What a stupid argument
# Nov 13 2001 at 8:51 PM Rating: Decent
good point ya got there...every1 is fussing sooo much over "what a waste" and "why should pal/sk get FT2?!" that they forgot to look at stats...happens so much too...just like scotty said...people just look at proc so much...they miss awesome stats...oh well...
